  • Help us grow so we can bring you more videos! Like us on Facebook @ / 2redline Station wagons are such an un-loved vehicle here in America. Which is why Toyota created the Venza, meet the spiritual successor to the old Camry Wagon. With its higher seating position, roomy cabin, and slightly odd looks; this vehicle is designed to appeal to empty nesters in search of more room but without driving the typical SUV. We think other than bland driving dynamics and an interior that could benefit from finishing school, it's a fairy useful utility vehicle. Toyota still has too many crossovers in their line-up though :)

    honestly though, as long as the dashboard looks okay, why does it matter how it feels or if its soft touch? people dont go around feeling their dashboards while theyre driving. Its more important to worry about the places you actually touch when youre in the car like the armrests and door panels.

    • @ConnecticutDashcam
      @ConnecticutDashcam Před 10 lety +4

      I agree with you 100%, not only can it be annoying to have creaky or rattling panels, but if they're cheap like that, they're not going to last

    • @MrTblackmon
      @MrTblackmon Před 9 lety +8

      asdbs11 I agree with you. I don't necessarily see what is the problameo with the vehicle fit and finish as for the dashboard or other irrelevant areas where no one would actually touch unless detailing the vehicle, but I do I agree with the creaking with the plastics in that vehicle and I can deal with the center console creaking with music ... not a problem; however, when you have a car that is priced in the mid to upper $20k's than anyone can expect a car to have cheaply made interior materials and creaks throughout the vehicle itself. We are not talking about a $60k Lexus that should have exceptional character with it interior fit and finish. We are talking about an affordable Toyota Venza to some people with plastic interior material that creaks, but again; it is not a big deal to me. The interior look incredibly good to me, especially the faux wood around the cup holders and how the center piece ( the cup holders and storage) slides back and forth, that is quite nifty.

      ***** Honda Accord is a great choice for people looking for practicality, but no matter how the reviewer has compared this vehicle to a Camry or an Accord, it doesn't directly compete with either. It compete with Ford Escape, Dodge Journey, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-9 and vehicles of that nature.
      But as for pricing, maybe you should step up to the Venza limited with better built quality and overall design if you are willing to spend over $30k on a Toyota.

    We had one of these. Yeah, the fit and finish was horrendous and replacing the 19" tires cost a small fortune, but overall I was pleased with the car because it had loads of room, was comfortable, very practical and best of all, it saved our lives in a pretty severe crash that totaled it.

    Acquiring press vehicles isn't as easy as you think it is. Manufacturers control which media company gets them and we are in line. We should be getting a press car next month but in the mean time, we go to our area dealerships for access. Nothing wrong with that, we started out this way and will continue to do so. Used car are an important part of sales, a lot of people want to know how these cars hold up throughout the years.

As well as all the major Publications that reviewed the car at the time spoke about the subpar Fit and finish, It's good to have an objective opinion sometimes. Whether you agree or disagree

    I think the interior on this vehicle is nice. Very Toyota practical. I could not care less if there is hard plastic, and that sliding center console design is amazing. What I do care about is whether or not the interior wears well even past the ten-year mark. Toyota = economy, reliability, durability, longevity. This was one of the most sensible cars you could buy. A very capable Subaru Outback alternative. Too bad they were discontinued.

  • @shwndh
    @shwndh Před 8 lety +19

    I agree about the cheap materials and the creaking. But it's still a great value if you're buying used at a good price. It's still a very stylish and practical vehicle, lots a great standard features, a ton of room, with good reliability. They were priced a little too high to have that cheap interior. The Crosstour interior was way better but less practical.

Its unique in a good and much better looking than the honda crosstour that you mentioned. the hone is the one that looks a lot like a accord stationwagon. heck it even has 'accord' in its name hence 'accord crosstour'

    The Prius V is a completely different vehicle. It's smaller, lower to the ground, and is even more like a car. They have different purposes, the V is designed to appeal to Prius drivers looking for more room, while the Venza is designed for Camry drivers looking for more room and a higher seating position with the availability of AWD as well.

      The 2010 venza only had one trim which was the base. It wasn't till the 2012 venza that they added the le, xle, and limited trim. The 2010 did have a choice between fwd or awd 4 cylinder and V6 with either fwd or awd. So the reviewer is actually correct! Lol

    It's an important aspect because if the cut costs on the interior perhaps they cut costs elsewhere? A soft touch interior will last longer and gives a more premium feel which I think any car north of $20k should have. I understand that power, performance, handling, feel, practicality and style are important but interior quality is important too.

    This car is essentially a 5-seater Highlander in my eyes. Reliable Toyota and affordable when used. I have 2 kids and a dog. This car has the biggest space between the 1st and 2nd row that fits a dog for trips when the trunk is full. When I hear this car compared to brands with next to 0 reliability, I laugh when thinking about worrying about soft touch materials on the dash. Completely misses the point. Of course, a review should cover all the points. But there is a bias in this review against this car and unfortunately the point of this vehicle was missed.

    You know when you are reviewing a base model vehicle it is going to have rough grains and partially leather vinyls throughout the vehicle itself, but it doesn't make it a bad vehicle because it offer great value and a decent amount of power and fuel efficiency with that four-cylinder; and furthermore, for that vehicle to be a base model I see fog lamps and rear cup holders that don't come standard on most base model vehicles ... period.

    It's a real shame that America doesn't like station wagons anymore. Anyone who remembers the Volvo V70R knows that was one badass station wagon. Not to mention the CTS-V wagon, Saab 9-5 Aero wagon, and the E63 AMG wagon. Whats not to like about a car thats practical and is a total sleeper? I know I'm getting off topic but it pisses me off that Americans just want bland, ugly crossovers now.

      I'm honestly the same way. I'm looking at a asian alternative to my Volvo V50 and there's nothing except older Outback. Nothing but SUVs as far as the eye can see. It's ridiculous. In my humble opinion, the reason us Americans don't buy wagons is because no manufacturers except for the Europeans sell wagons. We're forced to get SUVS because there are no other affordable options if you want more room than a hatchback to haul a decent amount of stuff.

    I still would have a Ford or a Vauxhall, we all have a choice of what we like and who we like, I have been in classes where they were like you should like this you should like that.on my last course I was the odd one because they liked Heavy Metal and I like Country, and today I got a reply to an comment where I commented I would have a Ford and he said scrap that Idea get a Toyota, the Toyota Corrola hasn't existed in UK since 2007 and the Fords I mentioned may not be USA Versions or exist.

    Basically everything you said was my first impressions of the V6 FWD Venza I drove. Didn't like the interior at all. Nothing flowed nicely and the materials just sucked.

      Any 4 cylinder especially getting up to V6 sizes must have balance shafts which could definitely make a more stranger sound.

    Do you actually think you're contributing to the conversation by going so over the top? If interior materials didn't matter then Rolls Royce would be able to get away with cheap hard plastic but that's not the case is it? Any good car will have a soft touch interior, cheap compact and sub-compact cars are exempt from that. Also don't you find it weird that previous generation Toyotas had better soft interiors than the new ones? Seems like a big F U to the customers.

    I don't see the point of the Venza when Toyota has the Prius V. Very similar cars in terms of purpose and size. Prius V gets better MPG by a lot though.

    Toyota Venza 2009-2015 was not a Toyota Camry Station wagon... Actually was the same wheel base as a Toyota Avalon...

    • @crazykenbei
      @crazykenbei Před 2 lety

      The chassis was the same as a Camry though. And the V6 engine is the same one found in the 05-17 Camry (Avalon too). With a bit of tweaking it could have very well been the return of the Camry wagon!

    For Toyota, this design, at the time, was radically different. It looked like someone cared, at least a little bit. I mean, look at the rear end. It has curves with no bulbous tail lights. I was very intrigued to buy one, until I drove it and it felt horribly underpowered here at 6500ft above sea level.
