@@abbij2009 I'm sorry to hear that, sound like if your willing to pay $600 you must have loved her very much. My rabbit wasn't just a pet, she was a best friend too. Luckily my parents were quite well off, so we could afford the vet bills. Some people abandon their pets when they get old. Which is terrible, their animal must be frightened and devastated. Animals are more complex then we think. I took care of my little bunny until the moment she died, she's buried under the tree she used to run around. My sister has a rabbit that was found abandoned. There really is no excuse for betraying your pet, you bought them because you wanted them. Boy do I miss my little bun, she was the cutest little thing ever!!!!

@ronaldmcdonald8303 mine didn't die luckily, the infection healed. We did cancel her spay appointment though because she takes medicine very badly and and I was worried that she'd die. It sucks because we got her brother neutered so they could eventually be together but they are still separated. I had 2 other bunnies in the past but they both sadly died from seizures (vet think seizures) in my arms right before we got to the vet, and one died in the vet parking lot while we waited for the vet to arrive. I miss them, and my newer male rabbit Boba reminds me so much of them both. I'm sorry for your loss

You will absolutely do what’s best for Lennon. Nobody doubts that. You’re the best bunny mom. But yes you’re so right. It’s so important to be in tune with your bunny. I can literally tell something’s not right with with my bunny by her behavior. She’s had stasis twice. And both times I knew something was wrong just by the way she was laying down and HOW she was laying down. And luckily caught it super early and was able to treat it. She’s 5. Your videos have helped me give her the best life. I am sending all the positive vibes for Lennon and hope that lump is nothing serious. ❤️

I have been a Nurse for 49 years. If you get an "inconclusive" biopsy result it is a good sign that it is NOT CANCER! Her fur will grow over the tiny lump and especially if it's not painful, her happy 9 yo life will continue as is. Don't get suckered into an unnecessary surgery. And yes anesthesia is a higher than normal risk for an older bunny. I have seen bunnies die just by being intubated! They have weird tracheas that are much different than cats and dogs. Poor bun was there for a spay and died just from being intubated. Very sad.😢 So if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Lennon will be fine. That's why they need "exotic" Vets. And even then, problems arise. Good luck on your trip to India! Deb😊

She never said it was a “waste” of money, but just emphasized the cost. In America vets can be very expensive. I had spent around $600 on treatment for my Guinea pig, he ended up needing surgery and that was an additional over $1000. He was already declining in health and 5 years old (Guinea pigs live 5-7 years) but the vets insisted I should do the surgery, I booked the surgery and the very next day I found him passed away. I am appreciative I am able to afford it, but for a lot of people, that’s rent, and they wouldn’t be able to. I believe she’s in the same boat, she can afford it and will do anything she can but it’s still a lot of money.

Good decision to just monitor Lennon. I've commented before on previous videos. My sweet bunny will be 13 in a couple weeks. He got cataracts before turning 12 years old. I felt it was too risky and expensive to put him through surgery. I'm monitoring for other behaviors and signs as to when it may be his time. Us bunny people are truly a special "breed;" we know how deeply these bunnies love us back. While it's gutwrenching to lose a very special bunny it's comforting to know you loved and cared for it with everything you had.

He was about 9 and had been ill for the last two months, gradually getting worse. I’m the end he couldn’t walk but still had a good appetite.
Two days ago he stopped eating and yesterday morning stopped drinking. The vet said to prepare for him to die.
Luckily I was with him the whole time and he passed very peacefully.

As a house bun mom for over 20 years, my heart and prayers go out to you and Lennon. If Lennon is happy and eating well, you are doing a great job as a bunny Mom! Average bun life is 8-12 years. I have had 10 fully free house rabbits over the past 24 years (1-3 at a time - currently two, a 7 year old and a 9 year old). They are wonderful, funny and lovable house companions that are easy to train if you put the time into them. But buns are delicate little creatures and putting them (especially senior buns) under the stress of general anesthesia and surgery is not an easy decision, and is very personal. In my bun experience, I totally agree you are doing the right thing for Lennon. Even though most of my buns passed around 10 year old, I had one for 13 years & one for 12 years. I always feel like I am on borrowed time with them after they reach 8 years old. When it is their time to go, most often with the healthy senior buns, it is very suddenly with little to no warning.

Totoro (opposite in age) was 1.5 years old when I noticed a lump on him as well. The biopsy was the same- but the doctor checked under the microscope as well and said it looked like fatty tissue (like when a human gets a Lipoma). It ended up going away on its own, but it took about 8 months. I did the same thing and monitored it, checked for redness, or any pain or discomfort when being touched. All were ok and no issues. I cannot say what Lennon’s lump is, but the know you’ll make the best decision in the end.❤️

I can feel your pain when you see a pet you love so much in a lot of pain or you know its at the end of its life and you only have a few days to spend with that pet. In my case one bunny and a few budgies and even when I was a kid hamsters. Recently back last September of 2023, my pet bunny Akii (A lionhead) passed away. He was like a teddy bear cause he was so fluffy, and for a good week it really devastated me. Thankfully I still have his brother Yukii and he just turned 6, so we celebrated Yukii's 6th Bunday (Birthday). When I had both of them, they helped me get thru a really rough marriage (2018-21), The pandemic (2020-21), Separation, Divorce, loneliness, and Depression. I just wanted to thank you so much for giving me so much good information out there. I will continue to watch your vids and just be there for Lennon. I will keep Lennon in my prayers for you. In fact ironically, when I got Yukii and Akii, before they were named that, their original names were Starr (Akii) and Lennon (Yukii). God bless you and Lennon.

As a Veterinary Assistant, our doctor only recommends surgery for cysts if they are causing a problem because of their location or if they are constantly bursting and bleeding and getting infected. If the pet is not bothered by them and they have not grown, he recommends keeping an eye on them especially on an older pet.

As a Bunny mom to 4 rescues, foster mom to several others, and several more that have crossed the Rainbow bridge over the past 25 years, I speak from experience when I say you're doing the right thing. As you said, a senior bunny under anesthesia is a risky thing, so if the cyst isn't growing and her behavior hasn't changed, your feelings to not risk Lennon's life for something that may not even be life threatening is definitely the right way to go. I've had 3 buns with cancer and 4 that had benign tumors. Even attempted to treat them. I live in a small town with only 1 rabbit vet nearby. In a time span of 20 years. To be honest, if the rabbit is okay, happy and showing no signs of distress or pain leave it be. You could cause her more pain/stress by messing with something she's ok with. And if you agree to surgery when this is the case at her age you risk complications occuring. When Button's cancer was diagnosed she was 7, She was a old sweet girl and a mother to 12. While i would've loved to fight for her. Her odds to win out where slim, being old and by the time i was able to feel it was only due to the fact it spread. In her case she was suffering, her "Sis" had a benign turmor just below her dulap for 5 years and died at the age of 9 from old age. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 🐇

Hi Lorelei. My 8 yo bun has an abscess. She had it cleaned out twice this past summer. One month apart. After the second one the vet told me that it was a tooth abscess and that unless she had "major" surgery which would cost about$1500 and they couldn't guarantee anything. Including her surviving the surgery. So they told me I needed to be prepared for her leaving. That was in July this year. Its December now. And she is still her old self but with a series of lumps on her cheek and throat area. She eats and cleans herself like normal still. I am glad I didn't opt for surgery. And I am blessed she is still here. Everyday I wake up I look for her first thing to see if she is still with me. I relate to what you're going through.

I have always read comments like this but I never thought I would make one cause I was never able to imagine life without her.but early this year my bunny went In for a ct scan as I found a lump on her chest and we wanted to do if it had spread and in the ct scan we also had found a lump on her uterus.a few months later in September we decided to operate her and she came out very well and acted normal like her happy self till November she was fine until I noticed she had been pressing her tummy to the floor and not eating so we brought her in for a few vet trips to take a urine sample and blood tests and they had also found that one of her kidney were enlarged so they did a ultra sound where they found that she probably had cancer in her right kidney as it was abnormally large and she had big bladder stones and since she was already 7-8 the vets said it wouldn’t be a good idea to operate on her again as the cancer had probably spread elsewhere. So we decided to do palletive care as all this came as a shock we spent are time cuddling eating yummy treats and doing tricks I had taught her till yesterday where she was doing really badly and deid in my arms unfortunately not in the most peacful way however we had already called a home euthanasia doctor to come by then it was already to late. This bunny called lily was my absolute everything we went through everything together and she was always there for me as I was for her she brought me happiness every single day of my life and I miss her so damn much it hurts. But I am so happy that we were brought together and she lived a happy life. RIP my most beloved lily 🕊️💔💔💔💔
I hope Lennon is alright but she is in the best of hands and as long as she is happy and content that’s all that matters ❤

First I just wanna say thank you for all that you do for the rabbit community and to educate people on bunnies. 💜 I started following your channel when I adopted my first bun Usao from my local animal rescue in 2018 and your videos have been a huge help in understanding and caring for him. He's been my whole world too, so I (and I'm sure most other rabbit people) can relate big time to this constant fear and anxiety of anything happening to your bun. 😣
We had a somewhat similar situation last year, and after thousands of dollars and countless vet visits and tests, we hit a point where our next option was to travel to another state for more testing. It would involve a 3hr drive each way (Usao hates the car) and possible anesthesia, not to mention it would be expensive. There was no guarantee the testing would tell us anything, or if it would be something treatable if it did. It tore me up inside trying to make that decision, but ultimately I felt like not putting him through that was for the best unless things got any worse. Thankfully Usao is still doing well and doesn't seem to be in any pain, so I do feel like that was the right call for us. I'm hoping things go the same way for Lennon.
It's incredibly scary and difficult to make those calls when our fur babies can't tell us how they're feeling directly, but we do the best we can. No matter what happens she knows you love her and you've given her an incredible life, while helping countless others in the process. Please know that your Lennies will always have your back and be hoping for the best for you both. 💜 Safe travels and I hope you have a wonderful time in India!

I completely agree with your apprehension about the surgery. Sometimes, it’s best to not take the invasive route bc it’ll leave them worse off than when they started. My eldest bun just turned 8 and I know that if I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t feel comfortable with putting her under either in these circumstances. Sending all the positive healing vibes your way ❤

Lorelei you are so strong, and we love you. My poor bun is dealing with GI stasis right now. Hopefully the tons of critical care and antibiotics will help. I wouldn't want to put my baby under either. She's 7. You have always inspired me to be better for my rabbit. The reason why I adopted mine and do my best by her. Obviously I am very anxious now, but watching your video does help me. So thank you for sharing.❤😊

My baby bunny is a year old and I got her two weeks after my birthday and she means everything to me. But the only issue is I’m allergic to animal hair and fur, which I didn’t realise was so bad until a few months ago, I’m covered in scratches from just holding her for ten minutes.
So I was up until midnight last night crying because I feel so bad because she has been in her cage for months now, I make sure to talk to her and be with her all the time but I can’t take her out. So I’ve decided in her best interest as her bunny mum, I’m going to fine a good animal farm and I’m going to see if they can take her in.
Which kills me to do, this is my last resort but she doesn’t deserve to live alone in her cage, she deserves better, even if that means we can’t be together anymore

Sending you peaceful and comforting thoughts, Lorelei, as well as a big virtual hug! I tend to get too concerned in some situations under the guise of "preparation," but sometimes I steal my own joy! LOL. You reminded me of a quote that helps me, "A worrier dies a thousand deaths; a warrior dies only once." Lennon, no matter what, is the luckiest Li'l bun in the world that she has you has her human companion. ♥

Definitely just keep monitoring it. Don’t risk surgery unless the lump is in a troublesome spot and getting irritated. Even if it were cancer you’re not going to spend thousands of dollars on treatment. My 12 year old bun had a couple of lumps that were cysts and they eventually drained by themselves. My vet lanced a large one with no anesthesia and it healed perfectly. Don’t worry. Lennon will be ok ❤️

My stasis-prone boy was 8 when he had a minor episode and I was palpating his abdomen and found a lump. The vet aws a month out for surgeries but they removed it and sent it in for pathology. It turned out to be an aggressive cancer but they couldn't identify the source tissue. He made a great recovery from that surgery, but sadly two months later he got sick and I couldn't get him better again and I lost him. It turned out he also had EC so I think the cancer weakened his immune system to the point where the EC took over. I miss him every day but he sent me a new bunny to love and care for who is also very special. I hope Lennon's lump is benign!

Love your videos!!! So sorry to hear about Lennons lump. I hope it is nothing serious. Have fun on your trip to India. Also, I have a subscription to Best4bunny magazine and in their last magazine one girl was talking about how she kept her rabbit in a hutch outside and she had a hunch that something was off and then she found your channel and it completely changed her bunny life she now has 2 bunnies, and they are fixed and bonded and they live full time in her house freeromed. I think she is even fostering bunnies now.

This video really hits home for me. I had 2 rabbits that were brothers. I had 1 pass away under the age of 2 due to genetic abscesses that I found by massaging daily, and his brother has the exact same abscesses, but we caught it earlier. Cannot stress enough to have your bunny around for you for things like this. It could save or prolong their life.
I hope it's not serious for Lennon, we love him and your advocacy for rabbits. ❤

My girl bunny had a lump that wasn’t cancerous, but it kept getting bigger. It had to go. And it did. However, both times she’s had any surgery, she’s gone into GI Stasis. We made the decision that any more lumps will be left alone. That she will live her best life without any more surgeries. It’s because of you and Lennon that my girl is indoors and a bigger part of the family.
Whatever you decide, we will support you.
