"The Astro One is Got Friends creative take on what a near-future could hold for EVTOL technology. The project features a fully experimental flight model coded by our flight dynamics programmer Got Gravel. The flight model is a fully independent venture and is separate from Asobo’s simulation. The flight dynamics are not following the standard fixed-wing or helicopter flight modeling within Microsoft Flight Simulator and instead running a locally contained physics engine with mathematical accuracy. This paves the way for our team to further develop this technology for more creative use in the future, bringing more varieties of aircraft never before seen in the simulator.
In regards to the Astro One, our model takes many creative liberties compared to its real world counterpart with the intent to craft a completely different flight simulation experience to those created in the sim thus far. This includes, but is not limited to, a fully custom digital avionics display, safety lighting, propeller guards, RGB inlaid paint schemes, terrain tracking, dynamic boosting, and sport mode. This project was also developed in partnership with Emerald Scenery Design, who created Astro Corsa; an included scenery race track for the community to test out their Astro One."

This toy instantly reminded my on a game of my childhood, Descent 2 - high end graphics, at least what fitted on a few old "discs" back in the early 486 days - yet with the simple "flight dynamics" a lot of fun. Great to have you back! THX 💙

dude yes!! Descent was a massive inspiration for what I in-visioned. 6 degrees of freedom was insane back then, and growing up playing space sims, even today, i knew that MSFS could have something fun like that while still being realistic. Im really proud of the team, they managed to put their very best forward to strike a balance between realistic and futuristic.

This looks like it would be insane in VR. I've been spending all my time in DCS lately but I might have to come back to MSFS to play with this thing for a bit.

i'm more than happy with my trackIR for over 10 years now, despite having had the chance to test VR a few years back (DCS, not MSFS though)... i honestly have to say that the racetrack footage here really made me properly think "imagine VR!!" for the first time ever in my life.

I fly FPV quadcopters a bit and this is simply a very big one and, as such, I think I'll have to get it! I need to buy something off Got Friends after using all their great free stuff. This will rock in VR ...

Got friends have got the flight dynamics spot on for most of their products so far (helos, gliders and the wilga) so I would purchase with my eyes closed!

Nice. I live in Renton, WA! I have the Renton Airport add-on with my Xbox Series X, but it crashes too much...yah yah yah I need to get a PC.....but will definitely get this Astro one.

bought it but not had chance try it yet. Looks great fun is nice change from airliner flying. Got Friends deliver on all their projects. Great video nice to see MSFS can cater for all types flying to give enjoyment to all.
There’s so much potential they’re only scratching the surface I suspect!

👍👍 cgaviator! I barely made it through the whole video before I had to go buy it as I'm also a drone pilot. :) I fired it up and gotta admit it's a lot of fun. I do wish in normal flight mode it mimicked DJI, etc., and had auto-altitude (GPS/barometer) control as well as let go of the 'sticks' and it immediately comes to a stop and hovers at whatever current altitude. LOL I didn't fly it long enough to see if it would automatically _Return to Home-point_ when the batteries get low. Haha! BTW finally subscribed!

Haha, fantastic! They’ve just updated it so the max rpm is 5000 when battery critical. You can fly it from the drone view so you can simulate it being RC!

Picked this up yesterday and it is so amazing! Sadly I don't have the GPU to handle that Renton scenery, but it was definitely a fitting introduction. And that race course was like something straight out of Tron! Awesome stuff, great to see/hear you enjoying it.

My pleasure! Which Tornado sims are you referring to? I’m aware of an XP11 version but I only have XP12. And I don’t play War Thunder. Going to have to wait for DCS & MSFS versions I’m afraid 👍🏻

Definite buy for me as soon as available in the Marketplace. Looks incredible fun and can't wait to try out the TFR at 50 feet around the Mach Loop 🙂. I can already hear the PMDG purists in the forums whining louder about this than the Astro's props 🤣 Edit: This might tempt me into running in VR again.

Just a thought, and maybe you are fine with the Marketplace for the ease of installation and (eventual...) updates. But buying direct from the developper, they keep the 30% cut of MS, the updates are faster, and they can put functions of features in their models that wouldn't be ok with MS. Of course, you might have your very own reasons.
@@fabiena1787 I fly on XBox as well as PC. Sadly that leaves the marketplace as the source if I want to use something on both, as I definitely do with the Astro! I'm waiting on the Astro to appear in the Marketplace 😢
That thing is actual very cool and realistic at the same time! Because helicopters as we know them are probably now slowly coming to an end and will be replaced by such tesla motor driven multi propeller drones in the oncoming 1-2 decades. This is a glimpse of the near future how we will fly around in ten or 20 years instead of buying a helicopter sightseeing flight ticket. (Of course helicopters will exist in 2050 and longer, but more like classic retro airplanes similar to the fifties and sixties cars of nostalgic car fans nowadays.)
It’ll take a while for battery tech to mature. Even in cars it’s taking forever to achieve range, charge speed and infrastructure. But eventually we’ll all be the jetsons! 😂

Thanks for the feedback MrBernardo. We had one of our friends, EightofDragons record the largest drone motors he could find for the source audio in the soundpack. Fingers crossed when real Jetson Ones ship to customers later this year, we may get an opportunity to record the real thing and enhance the audio!

Does the actual Jetson have a ballistic recovery chute ? I'll have to check. Not much use below a few hundred feet though. The 'dead mans' curve.

Just a quick question - do pilots in the RAF get callsigns in the same way as in the American forces and if so, custom helmets with their callsigns on? all of the videos that I've seen of F35 pilots in particular seem like all of the pilots have plain white.
Americans sometimes have naming parties. RAF people usually get there’s just as they go through the service. Some people get away without one! But it’s more a nickname in the RAF whereas Americans incorrectly call it their callsign but it’s not used when talking to ATC

why would anyone want to buy a simulator for something like that. what are we simulating? drones are ugly and take the romance and beauty out of aviation its the dumb mans way to fly. An aero plane that dances and engages WITH the air and the ebb and flow of the earths breathe is romantic and the gentleman's way to fly, these things just use power to push through it and defy it. also very low skill level to fly. Helicopters are beautiful and separate from these things because they don't feel like they have children's stabilisers on them and you must know aerodynamic principles to fly them and respect as they can be unforgiving
I wouldn’t worry too much, each to their own. The simulator caters for a range of preferences. Sadly aircraft are all getting very automated. Way of the world.
