- Part 2 of my weekend testing the Enyaq Coupe - this time from Stafford back to Edinburgh. The flatter charge curve and battery pre conditioning make an excellent car even better. Since the 60 and 80 already have the hardware to pre heat the battery why will Škoda not enable this feature on older cars?

Thanks for your video and honest opinions. Most encouraging. Just been told that my VRS has a build date of week 18. Can't wait.
Another good video bud. Looking forward to my Aberdeen to Manchester road trip in June to see how I get on with the vRS.
Managed a journey in our 80 exceeding 4m/kWh… that’s the best we’ve had in the last few months.
No public charging needed. By the time we arrived the GOM + distance travelled was greater than it was when we left :)
Preconditioning would be a bonus on those really long journeys though.
I have a skoda enyaq 85 on order as well, dealership last update was build week 20 which is mid May. Ordered end of Nov last year.
Back in 2021/22 the lead time was 18 months or more!
@@enyaq_gorm My first EV, home charger not installed yet, Ohme hasn`t contacted me since online home survey. Don't know what EV tarrif to go with either.
Wow. Iv just ordered my enyak 85 and its a 3 month wait
@@shogunpxp that's pretty quick. Even when mine shipped it was nearly 2 weeks waiting for a truck to get fun the port to the dealer
Ordered a 80 sportline on the 5th October, got automatically changed to a 85 and received delivery of it this Monday (22nd April). Loving it.
Wow the charging curve is really impressive and I would be very happy with the efficiency you wee getting. Thanks again for your video I really enjoyed it. Would this make you consider changing from you 60 to the 85?
not right now (unless West End make me an amazing trade in deal) but @Skoda have moved to an agency model where you buy the car from them and the dealer is basically just paid a handling fee for doing the paperwork, so I can't see their being any amazing deals any time soon :-(
The 60 is more than enough for 99% of my needs but the 85 is everything the original Enyaq should have been (and could be if they would update the software!!)
Yeah, I would have to agree with you on trying to get a deal on trade-in. The only reason I changed my 60 to the Coupe vRS a year ago is I got a good deal as the coupe was a demo . I don't think Skoda will be updating existing enyaqs with preheating software and I believe they say there is hardware required so can't see that happening any time soon but maybe later as an extra cost.
Looking forward to getting my 85 in June! Considering most week days I might only do 20-40 miles, do you think I will get away with having a slow (2kw) charger at home? Having difficulties finding someone that can install 7kw because of my particular house layout.
Be careful not to overload the plug, many aren't suited for sustained draw of 2 kW for prolonged periods and can go on fire.
Question.
When cruising at a steady speed, does using "Eco" rather than "Normal" make a noticeable difference to consumption?
Or just alter tha available acceleration?
Thanks.
Mines due next Monday. Bit of a wild one as it will be an 85 sport line but 2WD as it was a conversion from 80 models.
Do you happen to know the tow weights on the model your in of just the 2 top weights on the chassis plate plate please.
Not a clue sorry, never towed in my life 😂
It's 1000kg using a braked trailer, 750kg with a non-braked one.
I'm trying to decide on an enyaq coupe, enyaq estate and the newest upcoming peugeot 3008 electric. Never had or driven an electric car yet. Any advice on any of these would be received with gratitude.
I'd saty with skoda. The Peugeot didn't feel or drive as nice.
The Škoda cars are great, no driving difference. I've had several colleagues with Peugeot EVs and Vauxhall EVs (same platform) and they hated them.
One other point, forgive me if I am wrong, The Edition car you have also has the Optional 'Suite Trim'
Yes it did, I didn't really mention that because it's just different fabric so every car can have whatever one you choose according to taste, my own car is lounge which I prefer but it's all personal taste
@@enyaq_gorm We have ordered this car for our Fleet with Suite Trim, just easier to keep clean, but at a cost. We left out the Heat Pump. The range is much better speced that the previous add on packs with the 80? How do you get on with the Keyless go (from a security point of view) we probably will get a GHOST device fitted.
How much energy does one use when pre heating the battery and is it really worth doing?
Didn't appear to drop the battery percentage much and worth doing unless you're happy to spend the time waiting to charge more slowly
Do you use the lane-keeping assistance ?
I use the travel assist
what speed are you doing on the motorway?
Set to the speed limit (the car auto adjusts to speed limit signs)
Thanks for the video. I don’t understand this pre conditioning for the battery. Can you explain it please? Like you I have a 60 with v3.0 software and no heat pump. If I add an ODBC dongle can I pre heat the battery? I only do 6 or so long journeys a year where I need to charge away from home so no big deal, but I did drive in minus 4 for about 400 miles in December and the range was shocking.
To charge as fast as possible batteries should not be cold. They need to be at the optimum temperature. On the Škoda that's around 23 degrees. The 85 models allow you to turn on a battery heater to get the battery warm. Only the 85 models can do this.

Okay thanks for the reply
Collected my 85x last week and already has 12v and electric drive errors, awaiting recovery tomorrow. Poor start for me as first Skoda purchase :(
Yes I am on foum . hope yours gets working soon.
That's a bummer. I hope everything is fixed ASAP.
@@David-pk1jg fingers crossed it’s fixed asap 🤞
@@Bazbolly Typical new EV error. Even Tesla had similar issue at one point.
