Range anxiety if you get diverted? Not in a Skoda Enyaq iV60

  • What happens if you're on a long trip but something forces you on to a long diversion? Can the smaller battery Enyaq, the iV60, cope?
    On a recent trip from Rugby to Livingston that is exactly what happened, late at night in the Scottish Borders.

    Thank you for your videos, we took delivery of our iv60 at the beginning of December and have done 1700 miles in it so far. Mostly my wife doing short local work trips in it and we have only charged away from home once when we went away for Christmas and topped up at the amazing Gridserve Electric Forecourt at Braintree that had 12x 350kw chargers plus others - look it up.
    Saw on Twitter yesterday afternoon that there were 20-30 electric cars queuing for a charge at Gretna. If it is a 40 mins charge each it would be around 3-4 hours before some began charging. Luckily poster was in a V12 so charged up in about 3 mins.
    Keep up the great work with the videos, gave us the confidence a longer journey would be OK.

      If it's a short trip how do you know it will only do 120 miles? What's your efficiency showing? Multiply that by your battery size to get actual range, the number on the dash is a guess only.

  • @MatthewStanford51
    @MatthewStanford51 Před rokem +1

    It's interesting that you have 60kW battery, what was your thinking about 60kW vs the 80kW when purchasing? Have you found any points when you wish you had the larger battery?

    • @enyaq_gorm
      @enyaq_gorm  Před rokem +4

      The thinking was that my previous cars had 22 kWh (Renault) , 38 kWh (Nissan) and 50 kWh (tesla) batteries so 58 would mean the car could continue for longer than I could. So I knew that the smaller battery would be fine and I couldn't afford the bigger battery anyway. Not once have I regretted it.

      @@MatthewStanford51 bigger battery = more weight = less efficient. 240 miles is what it realistically does (not the 254 officially tested) and that means my bladder / fatigue dictates stops not the battery

    Hi
    This is interesting. I am doing research before buying Kia eniro 2020/21 or mg marvel lux 2022 but this Skoda has me interested with this sized battery.
    What is real life range on 110kmph motorway between 10-80% ?
    If you also have city consumption I’d appreciate that!

    • @enyaq_gorm
      @enyaq_gorm  Před 18 dny

      Sorry I've only just spotted this. I've never tested the range to the maximum, I always stop after between 2 and 3 hours on the motorway as I need a break for a stretch of the legs, or a toilet stop or food. So I honestly have no idea how far it will go. Likewise for city traffic, I'm not in a city bit commute into one every day, I usually charge the car up when it's sunny and the energy is free from my solar panels so I don't ever find out how far it will travel to get between certain percentages, that's just not how you live with an ev. I'm guessing by now you will have maybe bought a car though 😱

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin Před 18 dny

      @@enyaq_gorm yes I’ve bought a model 3 Tesla. But I am still interested in finding out the efficiency of the car. How many wh does it do per kilometer? On average. Mine averages 144wh/km during summer and 180 during winter.
