    I tried my rotopax today and struggled with the nozzle that came with the container. I must have twisted the lock unlock selector at least 8x. Finally I gave up, it's a pos. I'll get mine similar to your nozzle for good. Thanks for the vid. Milpitas, CA.

      No problem, I did have some leaking issues after I swapped to the free flow. So I use the regular OEM nozzle just to keep it from leaking then I use the free flow when I need to actually use my rotopax

  • @pn312
    @pn312 Před 9 měsíci +4

    One possible suggestion. If you can mount the fuel can above the same side as the fuel filler, you may be able to keep the can mounted and just use a jiggle siphon or squeeze ball siphon hose and let gravity fill the tank without taking the can off the mount. I’m planning on trying this myself when I get my Rotopax can installed.

      @@Corvenik1 I wound up removing the screen with a sturdy knife, a flat head screw driver, and a pair of long nose pliers. It was a little easier than I anticipated. It took a bit of patience and careful persistence to keep steadily working at it and getting separation but it came out without a lot of physical effort… and in one piece. I rinsed out the can afterwards to make sure no plastic was left behind.

    Some people show how easy it is, but they have a fill port that allows you to press down on the control tab on the neck of the RotoPax spout fairly easily. And with Diesel, you always need to bring a box of nitrile disposable gloves to disassemble the RotoPax spout. By the time you've dripped and spilled fuel all over the place, you've massively exceeded any emissions that the OEM spout was intended to control in the first place. Do yourself and the environment a favor and get a free flow nozzle.

    I just went to the PAX website and the nozzle you showed is designed for WATER ONLY, and is currently sold out. But they do have another one that can be used for GAS or WATER, and is ALL METAL. It costs $55 instead of $35. I guess the water only version works OK, since you have been using it, but I don't know if there are any problems using it with gas?

    • @RoamWithJon
      @RoamWithJon  Před 11 měsíci

      They did came out with an updated version of the free flow nozzle that is all metal for use with gas. At the time, the version shown in the video was labeled as their only free flow nozzle for use with gas and has since been labeled as for water use only.
      With the “overland” market as it is, gear changes or get updated quite frequently to meet standards or quality. So in the span of this video going up and now, they received enough feedback to make an updated version. At least that’s what I’m assuming since I last spoke to them. (I bought the product it wasn’t a sponsored or free product).
      I kept this nozzle in a ziplock bag in my roof box. I only attached it to my rotopax when was using it and I used the oem nozzle during transport. I didn’t have any issues with the nozzle it was actually really useful when I was running a rotopax. It cut the time and headache by a ton.
      With all that being said I would definitely not use it for gas, if its labeled as intended for water use only. I would most definitely not advise you to store it in your rotopax.

      @@RoamWithJon Thank you, Jon, for your wonderful review and for taking the time to respond to the comments. I truly appreciate it. You are absolutely correct in your observations.
      In order to deliver the best possible product, I made several modifications. While the manufacturer of the blue hose I purchased claims that it is suitable for use with fuel, it has been found that over time, the hose becomes as rigid as a PVC pipe. Despite the manufacturer's attempts to adjust the blend, the issue was not resolved. This is why I developed the All Metal Pax Nozzle, which completely eliminates the use of plastic hoses. The nozzle is designed to be submerged in fuel 24/7, and it has proven to be an outstanding product. We have shipped thousands of units, and to date, we have not experienced a single failure. Additionally, the All Metal Pax Nozzle comes with a lifetime warranty, adding to its appeal.
      Regarding the leaking issue that you had, it is indeed related to the gap created by removing the Flame Mitigation Device (FMD). To address this, we offer a simple solution: our Shipping Spacer. You can find the Shipping Spacer on our website under the "Everything Pax" tab. It effectively resolves the gap issue, ensuring a proper seal and preventing any leaks.
      I'm not entirely sure where the $55 figure came from; perhaps @jamesmeyer1325 has combined a few different items. The All Metal Nozzle itself is priced at $35.00.
      If you own a Gen-02 Rotopax and wish to store the nozzle inside the container, you will need the Shipping Spacer.
      One last thing if you are using the nozzle with a vehicle that has a standard filler neck, I would recommend our Spout Adapter.

      Sorry for the late reply I might have unlocked it before I picked it up and didn’t relock it all the way lol. I couldn't fill the can up, as if I let gas into the can any faster than a slow trickle, the fuel would just spill out.
