I discovered Nightwish only recently through Tarja. Then I startet listening to the songs they did until 2005, it was so brilliant. I love Tarja's voice and her way of singing, but I also adore Marko and the whole band. And Tuomas' compositions are exceptional. In this performance Tarja really shines as a singer as well as Marko. It's simply stunning.
She's the best and Marco is amazing too! The best duet ever! And i think your reaction was fantastic! ❤
I never get tired of this performance. There is another nice one with Tarja and his brother Toni (2008) - for those who are looking for different versions.

I love this reaction. I am dual Finn/US. I was at this concert in 05 at age 16. I’ve also seen NW with Annette and Floor. And know the history. In real time.I personally prefer early goth/symphonic Tarja OG NW. But I completely respect the Floor era. And avoid comparisons. It’s a diff band with a diff vibe and Tomas writes diff songs now. I suspect they will be a lot of “but see Floor”. Not on this one. Try The Siren. Planet Hell. Swanheart. And T’s new stuff including her take on Muse/Supremacy.
Tuomas definitely had a pirate phase. Hehe Tarja’s voice is magical. I saw her for the first time in 2023 and was blown away by her performance. Wish I had gotten to see her with Nightwish, though I absolutely adore Floor and feel like she can do all the songs where as Tarja was more specialized.
It’s strange looking back at these old videos and realizing the only remaining members from this time are Tuomas and Emppu, yet they are still a phenomenal band.
I saw Phantom once live but sadly slept through most of it. 😞 I was going through some serious medical stuff (story of my life) and the meds I was taking constantly knocked me out. I was so incredibly sad and disappointed.

Tarja 🖤 This era of Nightwish is my favorite. End of an Era and From Wishes to the Eternity are the best concerts I have ever seen.
I know it's after Christmas, but you should really listen to something from her Dark Christmas album that she released last fall, especially O Holy Night.
I have seen her singing O Holy Night live in Bochum, it was so mesmerising.
That Jack Sparrow-figure is their inside joke, so you saw that right! Excellent reaction, nice to see you back! Tarja and Marko are so great together in this, this song suits them both just perfectly!

Welcome to the magnificence and jaw-dropping glory that is Tarja Turunen, the reason I also fell in love with this band, and this skin-horripilating performance had the same affect on me the first time I heard her voice, so you're not alone in your reaction. Would love to see you delve into even more of the songs played at this End of an Era final concert before she was forced out of the band. I strongly suggest you start with the awesome opening song, "Dark Chest Of Wonder" and see how the crowd goes absolutely nuts when she first makes her appearance on stage -- the source of many goose bumps -- and go song by song from there. A concert not to be missed. Talk about her ending on a high note with both the song, and her time with the band. Anyway, hope you feel better soon, Chief. Happy to have stumbled upon this video.

Floor and Hanke version doesnt hold a candle to this version. With Tarja and Marko's vocals, the pounding tempo, Emppu's sound, just kills it!
Floor and Henks duet in BZ was pure magic. The whole situational context played a big role though.

I like Floor better than Tarja, but I like Tarja a lot too. I think there are songs that belongs to Tarja. Songs that suits better to her style. Anyhow, I like this version of Phantom better than Floor version, because the song was much more intence during this time and Marko is phenomenal singer in this version. Also the last part makes me think about Vampire Lestat, for some reason.
