  • Spider-Man has an impressive rogues gallery some would argue he has some of the most recognisable villains in the Marvel comics universe. One of them is The Spot who some feel bears striking similarities to DC's Polka Dot Man. How does this character come together with Black Cat, the Symbiote costume, Kingpin and more? Technically doesn't count because none of Spidey's punches against the Spot actually connected.
The *only* (?) punch that was a literal punch in that show was ...
      .
      .
      .
the Chamelon episode where Spidey punched the Chameleon (who was disguised as Peter Parker) in the stomach. His powers were controlled by his belt so Spidey punched him in the belt to turn off his powers.

Spider-Man's one of those characters who is so lawful, body horror or something like having an innocent civilians guts spew out of the portals on his body would easily traumatize Spidey.

Did you know that the "Spot plugged into a horrible machine and his powers used for remote control slavery" was blatantly stolen from a Shocker based fanfiction? Though in that his powers were used to transmit mind control on villains for joyrides rather than the weird decapitation and basic farm and sex slavery.
Shocker: Legit was the fanfic, it apparently turns out to have been written by Max Landis though I don't think that was public at the time it was stolen. (Max has been accused of some very creepy things, but that still doesn't justify the plagarism)

@Fashion Forward Accessories, Crystal Dowdy While I agree with a lot of those, some of those are massive stretches. Black Panther is nothing like Wild Cat. Mole Man and Penguin have nothing in common, other then being short and ugly. Mongul is actually a copy of Thanos (though as pointed out Thanos is a copy of Darkseid, so that's a weird case of DC copying Marvel copying DC), Apocalypse is completely different. If you're going to accuse Mr Fantastic of copying anyone it would be Plastic Man, who predates Elongated Man by a lot; but really Fantastic's REAL power is his Intelligence. Crossbones is more akin to Bane (who Crossbones debuted before), while KG Beast is more like Red Guardian (who debuted way before KG Beast). Spider-Man has NOTHING in common with Taratula (at least not the original one, who was basically just another Batman; the second (current) Tarantula is actually a copy of Spidey).

The spot could have genuinely been a great villain imo. He's really not much sillier looking than say the Joker. His abilities can be very impressive. He's clearly way more powerful than the animal-themed villains in the Spider-man Revenge Squad. Imagine if somebody tried to shoot him or if he did the self punching trick on Wolverine. I never liked the idea of a loser villain in general tbh. It just seems like such a waste and really taints characters, giving them a stigma they'll have to overcome for later stories. Just portray them competently, and they'll be considered that way.
