the new LD are an amazing reel, ive got a 35spj single speed and it is amazingly smooth and powerful. I see there is a new '22 15size star drag saltiga that ive out on order from my local for a new setup.
I think the 16NA would be just as tall as the regular 16A, but with the narrow spool. I was looking for something more "palmable" than the 16 series-- something a tad smaller.
@@dennispenton6872 Thank you! Hopefully it is, because I ordered 1 Saltiga LD20 online hoping its smaller than the F custom. They dont carry US and AU domestic reels here, only JDM, so I went purely on gut feel. Thanks for the video and for your help!
@@mitchellmak Yes it is. The Daiwa 20 is around the same size as the Accurate Valiant 400 and Talica 8ii. Right in between the OJ 1500 and 2000. I have no doubts you will really like it. It's smooth with excellent free spool and drag.
@@dennispenton6872 @Dennis Penton Hey Dennis, managed to get the LD20 20-2spd. Everything about the reel feels amazing and fits perfectly on my slow jigging rod, with the exception for the handle. When i crank it, it does not stop in its track. There is slight free-play, meaning if it hold the spool tight, I am able to move the handle back and forth a couple of millimeters, like its slightly loose. I'm not a lever drag user, so is that normal? Do you have that issue with the F custom and talica?
@@mitchellmak that is how ALL lever drags are. theres a tiny play between all handles and body. atleast tahts how it was for my saltiga 402 speed and talica 10 2 speed. theres tiny play i think it has to do with the 2 speed gears.

35JH is super silky smooth. 40lb drag. So king. its better ocea2000, 4000. its legendary.

Believe it or not I have not used it yet. Been caught up fishing backcountry… hopefully I’ll put it through its paces soon.
How does the size of the Daiwa 20 match against the F custom 2000? Is it bigger?
I believe the OJ 2000 is the same size as the Trinidad 16, so the Saltiga would fit in between them...

Hmmm? I've not fished the Talica but heard it is a rock solid choice also.
