- Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero returns to The Old Man and the Three this week for another amazing interview! To star of the episode, JJ Redick and Richard Jefferson discuss the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks. Paolo opens up about becoming more of a leader and improving all-around as player in his second year in the NBA with the help of advice from Coach K and Los Angeles Clippers guard Russell Westbrook. He also shares how he feels he can control his own destiny and manifesting his career goals, from becoming the No. 1 overall pick, being named Rookie of the Year, being selected as an All-Star in his second year, to making the playoffs, eventually becoming an All-NBA player and more. He then shares his experience play for Team USA and how he need to adapt to not being the first option for the first time in his life. Also, he explains how 1-on-1 shooting workouts with Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant last offseason improved his jumpshot.

I'm glad the Magic are doin stuff again and it feels sustainable. I'm a Pistons fan and it's what we've been aspiring for in our rebuild, hopefully we'll be able to find a Paolo-type player in the allegedly weak 2024 draft.
Paolo's draft was allegedly weak. No one was a consensus #1 pick in the media. 2024 draft can easily give you a franchise all star piece.

SGA has been my favorite player since HS, but he hasn’t earned 1A label yet. Embiid can’t stay healthy to be 1A. Luka’s play style removes him from 1A, his teammates don’t thrive enough under him holding the ball to win the games that matter. Really that leaves Jokic, Giannis, Tatum, Bron, Steph, & Jimmy? Nobody else you feel comfortable can even get you to the dance, let alone win it.

You really just tried to say Luka 73 in today’s NBA was better than Kobe’s 81 in a league playing much tougher defense in the mid 2000s. Btw the 81 was not in a blowout win, you don’t even know what you’re talking about that’s the saddest part. Lakers were losing most of the game and Kobe’s scoring pushed them over the top, they didn’t go ahead on the scoreboard until late in the 4th.
