So I recently had the chance to trade my Zotac GTX 1650 for an Xbox Series S and I personally think I made a good decision. Originally I was told the Seris S was brand new but I do think it was reboxed either way it works and I'm pretty happy with gaming and emulation on the Xbox Series S. Fun Fact: the desktop 1650 has 896 cores. the laptop/mobile 1650 has 1024 cores.

One note on the limited storage; Only the Xbox series games need to be installed to internal storage. Older One, 360, and OG Xbox games can be installed to an external spinning hdd.
A very good point indeed. Plus that Series S and X games can be archived to external storage when you're taking a break from playing them to free up some room. Simply move back to the internal storage when you're ready to play again.

Na. I use NVMe in External Enclosures for old gen games. No More HDDs! I use the Sabrent NVMe enclosures.
I use the Sabrent NVMe 512 for fighting games/arcade games...
And the Samsung 970 Evo Plus for my Competitive Shooters and a couple of Single Player games...
And Internal only for..... Well.... Halo. 😇

China is already making clones for Xbox internal storage expansion. Was as low as $140 USD last month, it since has gone up to $180.
There is even a variant that can plug a 2280 nvme ssd used, but only 1 brand is compatible at the moment.
Edit: the price is including storage the device alone is around 45 USD.
Considering the prices of gpus in the se asian market, the console is the only way to go now.
Console also way overpriced on place I live (also SE Asia), PS5 for example sold for US$700 or more if it being reconverted. So both gamer are screwed...

Yes because it plays Battlefield 2042 1080p 60fps and Halo Infinite 1080p 60fps. Series S is the cheapest budget option right now to a gaming pc.
And it's usually even discounted at least in Germany. We even had it for 250€ a couple of weeks ago. The normal price is always around 270€

I'd make that trade for sure. I tossed my 1660 Super away (when they were going for $300, only a hundred over actual value!) to help finance a Series X bundle, it's been awful swell.

Literally sold my rx 6600 today to put the money towards a xbox series x and Ive been regretting the choice but seeing this kind of experience makes me excited to get my series x. After 5 months since you commented this would you say its well worth it?
I am sure it was a very fair deal, under normal circumstances that GTX should not be worth the price of the xbox console.

For tests, I put 10 games in Quick Resume.
I use a external HD for Xbox One games and keep Series games.
I've had my SS for a few months and it does the job I bought it for: playing current-gen games. With GPU prices and availability, and high end consoles being hard to get, this was the way to go for me. Because, ya know, you can actually find the SS.
Well, you can also play some next gen games too.
I did the same with my GPU and I'm very happy, enjoying my Xbox so much!
I have a series S and it´s a beauty. I will upgrade to a series X later in the generation but for now this does the job and does it really well.
I have a series x and a ps5, tge series s is the best looking console this gen. I have series for my daughter and it's a great console.

I owned a Series S for a few months and just upgraded to a Series X. Not much of a difference if you're playing on a 1440p monitor.

I have a Series S since May and just recently got a PS5. Gamepass is the best thing for me as a casual gamer and to be honest I don't see any big difference other than the exclusives both platforms.

Series S is unbelievably a bargain for what it can do, especially if you don't really care for 4k

For me, 4K is not ideal, I prefer to play in 1080 60 fps and a XboxSS

I'm still happy playing PC games on my GT 640. I can easily play games like GTA 5 @ 1080p medium settings.

I think trading for a SS is awesome even though I'm a SX man myself. I was going to upgrade my videocard last year and with the pricing and lack of availability I gave up.
I ended up getting a SX last year and I LOVE IT!

The biggest difference between the series x and s is the price, but there is almost no difference between them, and that comes from a series x owner

I realized that I was never going to get a 3070 at msrp so I bought a Series X. I'm having a blast right now with Game Pass.

Prime, so happy that you did this video. Ive been dabbling with the idea of getting a Series S, since I already have GamePass and the game variety will be greater if I do that. Many people complain about the lower spec'd GPU compared to the Series X and the PS5. I was wondering: do you think that the customization on the console will make it so that the series S remains viable throughout the life cycle of the Xbox?
The series S should be viable. It will just be 1080p at 60fps for the whole generation is all. If you are okay with 1080p at 60fps than I say go for it.
If we don't consider the Switch to be a part of this current generation of consoles. The Series S is essentially the only game in town, Series X and PS5 might as well be leprechauns or unicorns because you ain't seeing them. Terrific trade in my opinion
The switch has awful value, 300 usd for a mobile chipset from 2015. The joycons are awful controllers too.
You can actualy play some optomized for series x and s games from an external HDD believe it or not. There are a handful of videos on here you can watch showing that some do indeed work and have the benefits of next gen, with the obvious exception of the fast loading times. However the loading times are still faster than last gens internal/external HDD read/write speeds. Both videos i watched had the series S being used as well. It really is a solid console for sure.

This is the definition of a balance gaming system. If he wants to play AAA titles, he can do it on his console. A smart trade with no loss.
You have to factor in the price of the games and the online service. You cannot play cheaper AAA PC games on it, even if the hardware is perfectly capable of.

@@sovo1212 While PC games are indeed cheaper you'd need to go through a *lot* of them to come close to making up the difference. And that's before you get into Game Pass which goes a long long way towards removing that advantage. In theory £21 a month on Xbox All Access gets you all the games most people would ever need (including all first party titles), the online service and the hardware to play it all on. Right now I really don't think it's possible to make a case for PC gaming on value grounds TBH unless you're going to buy a decent spec PC for other reasons and can play games as a bonus, then it might work.

Depends if you have an equal or greater power graphics other than the one you traded, and if you have an xbox series s/x already. If you're not losing power in your gaming pc by the trade it's definitely worth it.
I suspect ETA still has a gaming pc with a good graphics card or two still laying around any way.

Pretty good deal. I have a 1650S and in some moment i thought about changing my PC build with a i3 10100F for a Series S to play Halo Infinite, but finally I saw my PC runs the game pretty well. Anyway, for around $300 a Series X is a complete bargain
Also have a 1650oc. I like the Series S especially the design, but the lack of disc drive is a deal breaker for me. I have a lot xbone discs the would like to replay again on a Series console.

Or would we need to do some sort of jailbreak and upload some special firmware that would support it? If u think it is possible, please it only let us know, but do a video of proof of concept! If Microsoft is smart, we are able to pull that off, they will let the exploit alone because I guarantee you that I will definitely try at least an XBOX Series S no matter what! If u want to install a lot of older Xbox One, 360 or OG Games, you can use a external Harddrive, so you can keep the internal for new Games only

I have that exact GPU, a little overclocking and some game settings tuning and it was even able to play half life alyx pretty stable (at a bit less than ideal graphics it was eyeball bleeding staring at pixels but it wasnt beautifully rendered scenes either as my CPU dose kinda bottle neck the GPU)
How about doing a video comparing the system with the Ryzen APU that you took the 1650 out of and the Series S to see if you have made 2 systems from one?

It's incredible, I play Halo Infinite with a fully compatible mouse and keyboard in a small console without any noise and the quick resume is a big change, I can turn off the console, disconnect it for days and when I turn it on again my game continues where I left it, incredible.
The game pass offers new games on the first day, my purchases of 10 years ago in digital xbox 360 are still available, I can try titles of the original xbox.
The rewards points for being part of the game pass give you the option to exchange them for money, months of gold or more game pass, it can practically be free.
It is the best option to consider buying, stop the stupid 4k and enjoy the games from 2002 to date.
Despite having a 3070 and better graphics I prefer to have an exclusive console to play like those old days of halo 3.
Don't forget with gamepass ultimate you can play alot of games through the cloud on the console so you can save space on the ssd.

Why your Power Button blips like that ? Mine just lights up stable and stays like that... And I got an XSS for X-Mas and super happy with it, upgrade from XB1-S, but still just have the XB1-S for older CD games and dont take this as an issue :) kept XB1-S mainly for Diablo 3 :D

I would prefer a Xbox Series S over those underpowered GPU’s. Even though the Series S is equivalent to that GPU in raw compute performance.
I love my 1650ti laptop, but I also use a Series S. I have different reasons to use either, so I couldn’t really trade my laptop for anything, but if it was just a graphics card, it’s a decent trade.

The only issue I have had is the SSD size. I'm saving up for the series X at the moment as they are much easier to get hold of for much cheaper
I almost caved and got a Series S while looking for an X, but the SSD size is what ultimately made me wait. Glad I did though as I just got my Series X last week! It’s a beast
@@motomasterx5824 yeah I would of preferred the SX buy GAME messed up my pre order. They are easily accessible now for only £70 above RRP so I will get one soon. The SSD is a massive problem. I only have 3 games at the moment and have 49gb left. Most games now are 100+gb.
The expansion cars is £210 for 1TB (stupidly expansive considering the SS is £250) so its pointless as I might as well get the SX

A 1650 for an XBOX Series S is a really good trade if you didn't have the PC to house it to start with - the Series S is an epic value console when combined with the variation of titles via a Game Pass sub AND X Cloud gaming options. What an awesome video idea.

It's a no brainer especially if you game on a non 4k display like a lot of people for bedroom setups etc
I'd have sold it and gotten a brand new one but as long as it works (which it did) then you still came out on top in this trade. I did notice the LED power button was flickering the whole time which isn't normal though so might want to see about that. It should emit a constant light instead of flickering.

The thing I don't like about the Series S is the lack of an optical drive so if you have a big physical library of Xbox One games and want to replay them via backwards compatibility, you can't.

Crazy times, I bought a 5700xt in late 2019 for £430 and sold it in early 2021 for £840. Its paid for my ps5 and most of my xbox series x.
Correct me if i am wrong but i don't think that the 1650 is capable of 60 fps at 1080p. I know its a vague statement as graphics settings have a lot of impact on performance.
But even at low-mid settings at 1080p 1650 struggles to give a 60 fps in recent games.

Given that the graphics cards are going for a lot more than they're actually worth, it's a helluva great trade. I would pounce on a Series S model if they came out with one that has a 4k blu-ray drive so that I could watch 4k uhd discs as well as use the disc drive for games. That is the only thing keeping me from it.
In my opinion it was a good trade a 1650 non super for a xobox s it was a good deal. The thing that is a deal break for me it's you have to pay every month to play online and i can't work with that, i paid for the game paid my internet bill and a adicional payment to play online? For me that's a deal breaker. But like i said it was a good deal (not for me, but people don't mind pay extra, i do) in general and the emulation part it's a BIG plus.
Best I can tell from researching game benchmarks the Series S is somewhere between the GTX 1650 super and GTX 1660 anyhow. I think its a good trade. You probably could have sold the 1650 for $350 and bought a new xbox. It was nice of you to trade with the guy who really wanted it though.
I recently change my gtx 960 2gb vram for a Xbox series s obviously whith some extra money, but It completely worth for me, now I play everything in 60 fps and with really decent graphics 👌😁

I loved your video, but here in Spain I wouldn't do it. Brand new Series S is just under 300€ and readily available, while the graphics card is around 500€. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but in your situation I would put it up on eBay and see the bids roll.

Really do like the design of the Xbox Series S.
I’d have definitely traded the 1650 for the Series S. When the chip shortage is over around the end of 2022 a used 1650 will probably be worth about $100 or less, the series s will be worth double that. Plus you have other GPUs and the computer you took the GPU out of has integrated graphics. For you this was a no brainer. For someone that just has a 1650 and is considering PC or Xbox for their sole system to game on, there’s huge considerations there, how big is their current Steam/Epic/GoG library, will they get gamepass with the Series S to offset the losses of their PC libraries etc.
Should of kept it, onexplayer hooked up to a egpu would be dope
