Brady has the right kind of mobility to avoid some pass rushers (pocket awareness, a good first step, etc.). He's just not a running QB. And he won't outrun a pass rusher. But he can occasionally generate some missed tackles with a timely dodge. And yet, he's always been a LOT better runner than Bledsoe ever was. Bledsoe always looked incredibly clumsy when he tried to run. Brady doesn't look clumsy, he's just kinda slow.
Also crazy to think if another team drafted Brady he might have never seen the field. A lot of 6th rounders don’t even make the final roster let alone start as QB. It’s likely another team would have seen him as just another 3rd string

If he wasn’t picked at 199 on 6th round! We’ve never heard of Tom Brady today! His late draft was his CAREER MOTIVATION to prove to everyone and to himself!
I think he would have been pretty damn good no matter where he was drafted. But the chip on his shoulder from dropping that far, plus teaming up with Belichik, sue didn’t hurt.
What a waste of a pick, like c’mon patriots. It’s not like he’s gonna lead you guys to 9 super Bowls & 6 Super Bowl wins before going to the buccaneers, winning another superbowl and retiring as the ALL-TIME goat of American gridiron football.
They picked Spergon Wynn with a competition rating of 50%.. at Texas State Bobcats over Brady who had better numbers (60%) and vs wayyy better competition, not to mention clutched big games
He will later on be kicked out after his 2nd year of backup QB and begin to work at a car dealership for 20 years and be named employee of the year 6 times and retire as the greatest car salesman of all time
Well, Dan Marino proved that you don’t need great wheels to have good footwork. I’d be more curious about how a QB uses his feet more so than his 40 yard time.
There a a few things I can’t ever wrap my head around. What’s beyond the edge of the universe, what happened before the Big Bang and how in the hell a man that was selected in the 6th round went on to win 6 super bowl titles and 9 Super Bowl appearances and will go down as the greatest nfl player of all time and one of the greatest athletes ever. Ima giants fan btw.
There’s gotta be atleast 1 guy out there who legitimately thought “this guy is gonna be a top 3 QB after he finishes his career, how the hell did he fall to the 6th round”
It was Dick Rehbein. He was a former QB coach with NE at the time and was the one really pushing them to draft him. Sadly he passed away a couple years later, but deserves a lot of the credit for spotting the talent of Brady.
In 2000 draft, 254 players in total were selected in 7 rounds. Tom Brady was 199 in the 6th round. 19 years later he is still playing and he has won 5 Super Bowls heading into his 9th. His longevity, determination and success is inspiring.
They mentioned the Michigan qbs that were in the NFL and Michigan had a great string of starting QBs who went on to the NFL in some capacity. Every starter from 1992 to 2007 (Grbac, Collins, Dreisbach, Griese, Brady, Henson, Navarre, Henne, Mallett) made an NFL roster multiple years. All of them except Dreisbach had pretty significant NFL careers - shame that injuries in both college and the NFL derailed Dreisbach.
@@s.t.santos5928 That's too cruel, besides I'm sure he'll get some playing time, maybe even start a few games if someone gets injured for some reason. I can see him latching onto few teams.

22 years ago today. #TB12 7x Super Bowl Champion 🏈 🐐✊
Brady is that kid in gym class that got picked last to be on the team but ended up being what they needed
Happy 23rd Anniversary to the NFL Draft of Tom Brady The G.O.A.T. 🐐🏈!!
What a waste of a pick, like c’mon patriots. It’s not like he’s gonna lead you guys to 9 super Bowls & 6 Super Bowl wins before going to the buccaneers, winning another superbowl and retiring as the ALL-TIME goat of American gridiron football.
They already had 3 QBs, one of which was a #1 overall pick. Wasted pick, they don’t need a 4th QB
Oh wait....
😁😁😁
Number 1 draft steals of all time.
I like the 30 second reminder that the Browns picked a quarterback earlier in the round, in true Browns fashion.
They picked Spergon Wynn with a competition rating of 50%.. at Texas State Bobcats over Brady who had better numbers (60%) and vs wayyy better competition, not to mention clutched big games
I didn't know bubbles coached the Packers
I want TB12 back so much💀
Same 😂
This moment is historical.
Yeah.... Let's see him be successful in the NFL. I predict NOT!
korey B you should be a scout, you have a great eye for knowing who's gonna succeed
He will later on be kicked out after his 2nd year of backup QB and begin to work at a car dealership for 20 years and be named employee of the year 6 times and retire as the greatest car salesman of all time
I was looking for this video a while back. Thanks!
Its mind boggling to me they talked about his 40 time like that is useful in the pocket
Well, Dan Marino proved that you don’t need great wheels to have good footwork. I’d be more curious about how a QB uses his feet more so than his 40 yard time.
Right. They were serious too.
Tom Brady, starting QB for over 20 years straight!😮 #199! 7 Super Bowl wins, 18 time MVP!😊
Screw Tom Brady. I'm glad the Browns got Spergon Wymn. Hell Yea!
GOATbrook Fan Tom Brady thought that he had insane confidence
his Dad
It was Dick Rehbein. He was a former QB coach with NE at the time and was the one really pushing them to draft him. Sadly he passed away a couple years later, but deserves a lot of the credit for spotting the talent of Brady.
@Dustin Ducote They sure did since the season has always been in the winter...
Many Michigan fans
talk about History in the making, wow. Great gem in the vhs era
In 2000 draft, 254 players in total were selected in 7 rounds. Tom Brady was 199 in the 6th round. 19 years later he is still playing and he has won 5 Super Bowls heading into his 9th. His longevity, determination and success is inspiring.
“Throws a very catchable ball” - all these guys can say are buzzwords and stupid cliche phrases
Who’s here after Brady showcased his greatness again against the Chiefs
Showed up in my recommend 🤷
Me
computerman91 “greatness”
Sometimes you've gotta pick for depth. You never know when Mo Lewis will knock Bledsoe out for most of the season.
a legend is born here
Priceless!!
I mean this guy seems decent, but there’s no way he can compete with Bledsoe. I’ll give him 3 years max before he’s out of the league.
He even messed up his pick number saying "Tom Brady at pick 198"... :) It's pick 199
Because usually at that point, who even cares lol
Thank you! Never seen this before.
this guy looks like he could win 7 superbowls what a great pick
This guy has just one his 6th Superbowl. Who would've thought.
Little does these Patriots fans know how much super bowls they won with Tom Brady
History was made that day Tom Brady the G.O.A.T was drafted to the Patriots
He should still be able to find a decent career as a back up.
Like.....backup Gatorade boy?😁
@@s.t.santos5928 That's too cruel, besides I'm sure he'll get some playing time, maybe even start a few games if someone gets injured for some reason. I can see him latching onto few teams.
@@iamhungey12345 💯💥🔥🙏😁
I have a feeling about this guy, I think he'll be pretty good
The Greatest let me show you that you messed up pick in NFL history. He used this as fuel to show up every one.
Bro went from one of the worst qbs in college to the goat of the nfl
Lmao drafted during a commercial and becomes the greatest QB ever.
Consider this: Jets in round 1 pick 8 chose Chad Pennington . There were six other quarterbacks taken before Tom Brady: Chad Pennington, Giovanni Carmazzi, Chris Redman, Tee Martin, Marc Bulger and Spergon Wynn
Bulger and Pennington had a few good years. I’m sure Cleveland would’ve liked to have that Spurgon Wynn pick back though 😂
Haha NOBODY expected THIS 18 years ago😂💯
2000 was such a special time.
sounds like a good backup to Bledsoe. Im also really stating to like this Belichick guy.
199??? With that college ability. Man, steal of the entire space time continuum.
If he works hard and with a little luck he may amount to something.
Omg, its Texas Rangers Prospect Mark Teixeira! Eh, he'll never be a good player as well. Just end up like Billy Beane.
Whatever happened to this guy? You don't hear much about him anymore.
He's selling insurance, door to door. 😁
He transitioned into a goat.
Say what you will about Brady, but he's gone from possible bust to a god for 19 years.
I'm not his fan,but I respect his legacy.
Golden Jokster27 6th round pick couldn’t really be a bust pick.. even if he didn’t work out he wouldn’t have made the news for a bust
Dakota Rudow Thats why I said "POSSIBLE bust" implying that he could've been a bust.
Golden Jokster27 there is no 6th round bust label.. that’s why they went in the 6th round.. they weren’t suppose to be anything to begin with
Dakota Rudow Fair point.
;-;
AFC CHAMPS !!!
....🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Again !
Goat
Yes sir!
NFL CHAMPS !!! ....Again!
Who wouldve known
Idk, the kid looked pretty good at Michigan. I think he’ll be a decent quarterback for an ok team. Put him in a good system and he’ll be competitive
Why are we talking about some random guy picked so late in the draft, not like he's gonna do anything
*time travels to 2000*
What if I told you…
Then he becomes hof quarterback , what a story
This is where the nightmare began...
For you all I was living it fine as a patriot fan
And the living legend was born
“And now via video conference, serial murderer and long time brutal rapist, Mike Sherman. Mike how ya doin’ over there, bud?”
Every single team passed on Brady several times.
And kicked themselves for 22 years.
