Lots and lots of love to all of you watching this and commenting, take care of each other, especially in any times of need, be compassionate, however painful that feels

    There are so many things wrong here, it makes me sick, that these people are the generation before us. People are getting crushed and dying, but people just chant and sing, when they can clearly see bodies on the pitch. The commentators, being reluctant to see what is going on in front on them it takes them forever to realise, they only start to realise when one is wheeled off possibly dead. The fact that everyone didn't suddendly come and help, smash the gates, the fact that it took so long for anyone to do anything, the fact it was blamed on the fans, the fact that everyone is fucking dying and noone cares. You can clearly see from the start, that people are getting crushed and badly hurt, anyone with sense would know, that is very dangerous. It's like a disturbing horror film that makes me feel horrible to my core, but also ashamed of how we reacted as people.

      You can't knock down steel fencing buried deep into the ground. The influx of hundreds of fans was too much. Police fault for opening inner gates

    Cannot believe that the police superintendant sat there and stated he could not see a connection between opening the gate and the sudden surge into the terraces...it is obviously the opening of the gate which caused this.

    When Heysel tragedy happened I was 10 years old, laid feverish in bed and heard my father, who was in the living room where TV stood, shocked commenting what was happening ; the following days I saw on the newspapers those horrible full page pics of people laying dead on the ground, covered in white sheets . It was really shocking to me, I was only a kid but started to ask myself what that terrible violence had to do with sport.

    this is insane, I live in san jose california and we have a soccer team, but the stadium is always so empty they cant give tickets away. different cultures I suppose.

    • @mrjasondylan

      imagine the packers wrre playing the bears in the championship game to reach the superbowl, guarantee that would be a packed house. soccer is our national sport in the uk we dont have no mlb, nba, nfl or nhl pretty much soccer and to a much lesser extent rugby and cricket. this was a semi final tickets were like gold dust.

    • @beenaplumber8379
      @beenaplumber8379 Před 8 lety

      There is a HUGE cultural disconnect between the US and Europe (and Africa too) regarding sports rivalries. If the Packers played the Bears in the playoffs, fans of both teams would be in the stands, mixed in together as always. There is no thought of segregation. There is never violence on the scale of any European soccer match in the 80s, and I think the same is true today, though I know England has cleaned things up tremendously for the most part. This goes for all American sports. College sports will have sections reserved for their students, but that's it. There is no other segregation.
      There have also been riots after some games (very rare), but they are not battles between fans of the opposing sides. They are home fans who are furious about an unfair loss, or even drunk with victory. But fans cheering for the other team means they are just like us, only they follow a different team. Having fans of the opposing team near you during a game is fun! You can shout good-natured jabs at each other, but in the end we know it's just a game, and one of us will lose. Being next to each other forces you to see them as ordinary people, not "those _____ bastards!" We'll even congratulate each other when their team makes an excellent play, or if their team wins the game. "Congrats, but we'll get you next time."
      I'm sure there must be exceptions. Drunken louts are the same world over, and we have plenty of them here too, but they are really the troublemakers, all on their own. They are not organized. We have no "ultras" here. I have seen more violence between fans and players than anything, and that's just hockey and basketball.

    you can't blame the police, or anyone really. They all did what they thought was best in that circumstance, and from the previous situations. The police at Hillsborough are trying to avoid another Liverpool- Juventus fuck up. Thats why you don't see cages around old trafford, the Nou camp, or any other stadiuum. It's all reactive to what has happened in the past, and that is what the police did at Hillsborough. R.I.P
