    Gamma bursts can also occur when the fusion reaction becomes helium poisoned. Possibly some of these gamma bursts are forming stars that burn out as they are forming. The problem is overcome in fusion weapons by controlling the reaction speed with gallium alloy.

    The first sentence of this video reminds me that I'm still in awe sometimes that we can go outside in short sleeves, with only a razor thin layer of air between us and all that violence and destruction, and stand there in comfort, and not broil, freeze or explode.

    After reading a certain book, the basic Three Body problem is some of the scariest stuff I can think about. Just the fact that something so simple could be so hard that it might even be impossible is very, very scary when you then think about the complexity of the entire universe.

    The speed of that neutron star animation really unsettled me for some reason. Something that massive and violent spinning around quietly at such speeds is frightening.. but fascinating as hell too.

    You've filled in some great missing gaps, like the magnetic force creating the jets. It's still a lot to get your head around, the whole complexity of it. It's ironic that we are so lucky not being zapped yet we are so content screwing up the world ourselves!!!!

    What about Quasars? I didn't think any other astronomical event was more powerful than a Quasar.

      I'm no expert. But I believe the distinction comes from the term object. A quasar is not an object. It is essentially an entire galaxy that has a super nasty black hole core x2 going nuts sending out pulses of energy and matters from the poles. It's alot more than an object anyways. But the aforementioned objects are indeed singular objects. All be it crazy big.

    4:45 minor nitpick: You said watts per second instead of just watts or joules per second. Watts per second would indicate a change im output power.

    I remember reading about Gamma Ray Bursts in a lexicon at the school library. I was 13 years old when I learned about one of the greatest potential threats to mankind. Had an impact.
