  • Austin and Pausha talk about Austin’s appearance on ESPN in which he and Kendrick Perkins discussed the struggling L.A. Lakers and why Austin is bullish on the team’s talents despite its slow start, why the Lakers are always talked about in such extreme contexts, and whether D’Angelo Russell can find a role with the team as a starter.

    They are only kinda fine because 10 teams make the playoffs now. Without the playins it would be pretty urgent right now.

    Austin Rivers basically telling us how he would play in the Lakers system. So much insight. 🤓 Good chat.

    Because it's the Lakers, lol. If they kept Lonzo, we'd be on year 6 on asking why Lonzo is a bust and why the Lakers chose him over Fox/Tatum/Mitchell. If the Lakers had PG/Kawhi, we'd be asking why they couldn't win when they had the break before the bubble.

    Rivers should be playing for the Lakers. Like seriously though you can't tell me he's not better than Reddish or guys like Skyler Mays or Windsor. Backup guard. Min contract. Playoff tested. Still young enough to have stuff in the tank. What's to lose ROB!?

    Its very simple imo. Lakers content always brings in views so people are always going to make Lakers content when they can, even if it's a little exaggerated

    Maybe because it’s the third year (or is it the fourth I can’t remember) of this underperformance with essentially the same two core players. So yeah, “it’s a journey”, but it’s been going on for years.

    • @Fieryvortex48
      @Fieryvortex48 Před 4 měsíci

      Please. If it was Kawhi/PG on the Lakers, it would be even worse. If the Lakers kept Lonzo/Ingram, we'd be on year 6 asking why the Lakers keep drafting busts.

      @@Fieryvortex48 Sure, but the overreaction for the Lakers is because it’s multiple years with two even higher profile players than Kawhi/PG. but yeah, it could be worse.

      @@vestanpance99 Higher profile? Kawhi was coming off a championship run and Paul George was coming off a top 5 MVP season when they teamed up. Lebron/AD might be slightly more popular individually, but they're amplified by the Lakers brand, not the other way around.
      More people would care about Kawhi/PG on the Lakers than Lebron/AD on the Clippers. That's the truth

    Because of casual fans. That's why. For every tried and true LA Lakers/Basketball fan you have 3 Lakers "fans" that just love Lebron because of some political comment he made or because its fun to troll people in the 'GOAT Debate' sp they root for Lebron because to them Lebron is basketball.
    And that's not even including the type of people that just want to root for whatever team has the most titles. Yankees/ Patriots / Lakers "fans" that will taunt you on the internet about "17 championships" even though that person has never sat down and watched a complete basketball game.

    • @Fieryvortex48
      @Fieryvortex48 Před 4 měsíci +8

      Because the Lakers have and will always be the most popular fanbase in American sports internationally

    • @jamesmiller5331
      @jamesmiller5331 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @Fieryvortex48 and a vast majority of the type of "fans" that the LA Lakers have are probably not watching inside basketball talk podcasts on a Wednesday in fact a lot of them have never watched a full basketball game.
      Then you have the LeBron groupies there are too many to count.
      I am simply not buying the fact is that because the Lakers are the topic, people are watching this nerdy basketball talk but if the Timberwolves were the topic the number of views would be so significantly lower.🤷‍♂️
      But then again people have told me that the reason they don't allow defense in the league anymore is because if the ball is it going through the hoop every 8 Seconds and the score doesn't end in the 120's, Cleetus will turn it off and go back to Tik Tok. I don't believe Cleetus is watching in the first place.

    Austin bench stats nba journey who is a ex clipper who was ignored in LA who was inconsistent his whole career talking about a top club he was never invited too..
