  • In this episode, we continue running challenging whitewater as we make our way down the South Magnetawan River to it's end. Then we contend with the challenge of working our way upriver against the strong current, wading and lining as we go to try eliminate portaging altogether. On the final day, we continue to make our way back upriver until we eventually get to Harris Lake where we end the trip on another spectacular November day.

    The power of hydraulics should never be underestimated! I got a good chuckle at your bannock, once after a long day paddling I made a batch of bannock using fish crisp 🤣 That truly is a beautiful river👍
    Till next time David🍻

      Yup, the river can be a beast! That is hilarious re bannock and fish crisp. Sometimes you just have to make it work! It really is, looking forward to going back for a future visit. Thanks buddy!

    That was an exciting journey for me to watch. My trips on the Magnetawan took a lot of portaging. That's a great video. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

      That's great Jimmy! Yeah, the Mag has a lot of rapids that necessitates portaging if you don't run them! 😝 You're welcome!

      Yeah, winter is definitely here. I use to stress at this time, but now I enjoy winter trips. So all's good. But yeah, given the choice I would canoe all year round! 😉 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    Was it worth making all that effort, pulling the canoe instead of paddling?

  • @retiredoutside
    @retiredoutside Před 2 lety

    You didn't dump! Was it faster lining upriver in November or taking the portage in June? Thanks for taking us along. It looked like a fun river to run - at least the downstream part.

    • @ThePursuitofPassion
      @ThePursuitofPassion  Před 2 lety +1

      Yup! We stayed open side up! Hmmm, hard to say. If you do a double carry, I think it would be the same. But that also depends on water levels too. Definitely a ton of fun! Hope to visit again when the water is even higher!

    • @retiredoutside
      @retiredoutside Před 2 lety +1

      @@ThePursuitofPassion I think the double carry was about an hour and a quarter, not counting lunch. The lining did look like fun. And good practice too.

    I didn’t understand, why did you go upstream?

    • @ThePursuitofPassion
      @ThePursuitofPassion  Před rokem

      Just because it was more fun than portaging the canoe back. Also gave us a chance to work on our tracking skills.
