In my opinion the recovery boards don’t need to be out in the open, it’s way too much blue and looks goofy, but that’s just my opinion what YOU like is more important! Btw if you post that rack on OfferUp or the marketplace I know accessories for Tacoma’s are constantly selling on there especially in the RGV!

What your looking for is referred to as a chase rack. I have seen a few for the Tacoma and they look great! I think they are meant for people to ride and stand in the back so they can hold onto something/mount extra lighting

It's funny, your video got me to look at "roll bars" for the tacoma, and they actually make some very nice units for these trucks that I could see looking very nice on your truck and suit you much better then a bed rack. They are also not shaped like the traditional "fall guy" style of a roll bar.

I told you it was a bad idea when you announced doing the rack, Rob. You didn't listen to me. Having said that, the roll bar might be a good idea. I've been thinking about doing that on my Taco too.

I love my Diamondback bed cover. You can get molle panels for the inside of your bed to mount your recovery boards out of sight.

Get the bracket adapters for a 'Tonneau cover' It will raise the satire thing 3" off the bed. Giving you more clearance underneath in the bed. More storage space on the sides and you'll be able to see out of your mirror.

In the early 80's I worked for a company called Off-Road Industries. We specialized in four wheel drive conversions of Toyota, Chevy Love, Ford Courier and Datsun trucks. At that time, none of the manufacturers made a four wheel vehicle and we worked almost exclusive for dealerships. We also specialized in accessories such as roll bars, grille guards, bull bars, running boards, sun roofs, etc. We installed a roll bar with almost every conversion. Then someone rolled one of our trucks and the roll bar failed miserably. Law suits followed, finger pointing started and... Well anyway, the roll bars were rebranded as "beauty bars". Bottom line, they are strictly for aesthetics.

A sport bar would look better, but try to get one that doesn’t go back so far because your bed isn’t very long, The one on the rebel seemed a little bit too long as well for a short bed big cab truck!! Keep it simple it looks better👍!!

Did not like the look of the rack on the back of your truck, I'm glad you came to your senses. Not so sure about a roll bar maybe a headache rack is more your speed as I think it would look better and less bed consuming

Hey Rob another great video... You might want to check out vanguard off-road for a bed bar. I installed one on mine and it has three LED lights on the top going across the bar and has marker lights on each side. The sides are mostly solid with the vanguard off-road logo etched through the metal but it does look pretty damn sweet. But you will have the issue with stainless steel bolts tho...soft roll up tonneau cover also still fits which is awesome and still an option... definitely worth a look.

Happy Saturday to you rob think you ideas is a good one never really cared for the rack you put on I thought it took away from the look of the truck kind of like a camper shell but it needs something and the roll bars might just give the bed that perfect touch I had a latter rack on my 2012 more like a back window protector a little commercial looking but it saved my rear window from part of a tree fell on it in a wind storm new England you know so it payed for its self and it did give the bed something
P.s saw you install that grab handle mine is on the way and I thank you I always missed that and you made a very good video when you installed it going to watch it a few more times before it arrives wish me luck and I will let you know how i made out
