G502 is hands down the best mouse of all time. There's a reason why it's been the top seller for so long. Perfect weight distribution for stability and precision. Fits so ergonomically and works well for any use case including professional creative work as well as gaming. Having 3 customizable buttons just around the thumb is a god saver.
Been using it since it was first released and can't wait to get my hands on my new G502 X Plus. Wish they'd shave off $50 or so from the price but I guess can live with that GOAT premium. Take my money Logitech!

For me it's been the most durable, reliable mouse I've ever owned. I've had mine for 7 1/2 years now and even through very, VERRRYYY heavy usage it is still going supremely strong. Not once has the infamous "double click" issue ever reared its ugly head. Not once have I ever had tracking issues with it. Not once has its mouse wheel ever given me any issues. Really the only problem I've had is that over time, the rubber grip along the side has worn down significantly. Beyond that it still functions like a champ, which is incredible considering just how long I've had it and how much abuse it's taken.

That’s exactly why I like the 502. I remap the sniper button for use with other short cuts. Also remap the dpi buttons when I launch games so I can use it for stuff like pinging. It’s just an all around great mouse.
I’m happy and welcome the changes. I’m glad they didn’t make it a completely new mouse and upgraded some stuff like the switches and gave it a little extra customization.

Yep, since I get my G502, I get why many people like this (or liked it until the lightweight gaming mice trend emerged). The problem I have with light weight mice, its just all about lightness anymore but they are basically just a normal mice. For most I guess that's fine, but I felt like I need a mice that allows me to actually do more since I don't use my PC only for gaming, I even do it for productivity and since pandemic, use for WFH use as well. G502 despite marketed as a gaming mice, is actually for me one of the best productivity mice out there, better than to even likes of well-regarded MX Master Mouse from the same company.
The extra buttons are great for quick macro/shortcut functionality for different apps I used and for gaming as well, not needing to reach that certain function on the keyboard that is too far to reach with the fingers. I don't want to develop RSI in the long term, the buttons actually benefits ergonomics for me and makes me feel more efficient.
I'm kinda disappointed that most mice and keyboards are indeed moved away from extra macro and dedicated keys for years. Felt like I'm paying more for less and very few options that offer one that now they became expensive because they became more niche.

Thanks for the detailed review, Random Frank P! It's always great to hear your thoughts on new gaming gear.
I've been a fan of the G502 for a while now, and I'm excited to see Logitech continuing to refine and update this classic mouse. The new hybrid optical switches sound intriguing, and I'm definitely looking forward to trying them out for that unique tactile feel.
Regarding the different versions, I'm a bit puzzled too. I appreciate having options, but the price and feature differences between the X and X Plus are somewhat perplexing. Personally, I lean towards performance and functionality, so I might opt for the lighter and cheaper version without RGB, but I'd love to hear what others think about this pricing strategy.
Looking forward to your in-depth review and more gameplay experiences with the G502 Lightspeed! Keep up the great work, and as always, I'll be following your updates on Twitter. Cheers! 🎮🐭

I had no idea people memed on the G502. I absolutely love mine (I have one of the old wired versions). I don’t like when mice are super light, they just feel cheap to me. The shape always felt perfect for my hand and I also always loved the lighter click on all of the auxiliary buttons on it. Every other mouse that has extra buttons uses switches that require a good amount more force and always seem to have a thicker thunky feel that I don’t like. The ones on the G502 seem to be the same or similar to the regular right and left click.

I've tried using lighter mice at home, but I realized would have to change both the home and office for it to work. I kept moving flinging my mouse around in FPS games. It's hard to give up the side scroll wheel and auto shift to hyperscroll on the MX 3. If there was a g502 or some Logitech mouse with swappable side bays to have a side scroll option plate like how the Razer Naga MMO had different plates, that would be the best. Same body for home and office, but different functionality.

The price is insane, when the old G502 Lightspeed went on sale for less than £60 at times.

The wired G502 Hero is only $40 now. Kinda feels like a ripoff even at $80 for the wired G502 X. I'd have been much more receptive to the price if they had reduced the weight more than they did.

Thanks for this great review! My trusty G500 just broke after 16 years. Incredible how long this mouse has been reliable. That's also the reason why I just bought the G502 x Plus. I really didn't care about the extra 20$ since I hope it's gonna last a long time again. I'm very exited to check it out.

I would say that the g502 has always been that mouse that tries to pack as much as possible, So I would go for the g502 x plus but...
The g502 x wired only weights 89g which may be heavy to others but for a person who has used every single g502 (Except for these ones), is bloody light!
I do hope to see a wired rgb one only weighing around 93g.
I would love to see that!

Sadly, it is a current trend now, so the heavier gaming mice will be a niche and expensive thing to have these days. Normal productivity mice are not suited for gaming due to Bluetooth latency and other connectivity issues. There might be still heavier ones, but from lesser known brands that the quality may be hit and miss, and software might be bad.

I ordered white 502x+ yesterday over the non RGB one simply because I have multiple profiles set and those little lights on my og 502ps help me figure out if the profiles have switched. However if it wasn't for buggy Logitech software I'd definitely go with non RGB model. Also I'm going to miss additional weights even though it's RGB model it's the heaviest of the bunch. Oh and one pro tip for all 502 apex legends players: create profile with macros for DPI buttons to mimic your weapon switch buttons it'll greatly help with some movement.

This is great so far, but if it’s like $150 I will have a fucking fit.
    (After watching the video) goddamnit.
To answer the question in the video, I won’t be buying either. I’ve always liked the G502 but I just can’t justify spending $160 to $140 on a mouse when I can get something with way better features and a better shape for quite a bit less.
If I had to choose between the two, I, which I feel like many others would make this choice as well, would get the white one to shed that extra weight and price. The black one looks super good, but at 100g+, every gram matters and a slight difference really is noticeable.
Unfortunate that Logitech and Razer wants to cling on the $150 price tag so hard. I’ll be getting the Pulsar X2 when possible.

isnt the OG wireless 502 up there in price. What i cant understand is they offer the AA powered G604 with the same sensor and its always on sale for 60-70$....yet they wont even offer a AA powered 502 as a "cheap" option when weight is clearly not a remote factor as far as that specific mouse/model when theres aspects like "ADDING WEIGHT" to the 150$ mouse. They really need to put the G305 setup in other mice....call it "wireless" and sell it on the cheap like the g305....and call it a day...150$ mouse is really not practical in the landscape of pc gaming when we just got passed a "SEASON" of mark ups and GPU scarcity....to think anyone would get their 150$ worth out of a mouse outside of ppl that are "well to do" that already have a flagship system/monitor etc setup....Its like logitech doesnt realize a lot of ppl DONT like the G305 shape etc...and weight is a non factor to them....Or they arent PURE FPS gamers....Also the battery life of a lithium ion AA energizer in the G305 is like 3 months+ depending on use....the G604 bc of the hero sensor is like 1m max. With the caveat of remembering to turn polling rate/user profile to a non gamer profile aka "daily driver mode" to 125hz polling to save battery.....than "gamer mode" e.g 500-1000hz.....for mmo/arpg/moba etc. Meanwhile The feet wont last remotely a year of use on a hard pad.

One of the best ever made, for me at least. I tried 3 other brands over the last few weeks and returned to the G502, 4-5 years old wired and worn, still beats them all.(If it ain't broke, don't fix it!) Now if they remade the G700 (a little smaller) I would pay premium for that! I still have one and it's worn out to a fair degree, but that one rocks! Logitech hear me! The G700 that can run on Windows 10-11 will be awesome! For now I will keep my 502 and be happy!
