The Logitech G502 is maybe the best, most popular gaming mouse ever, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement. The G502 Lightspeed is the new wireless version with the HERO sensor, but can it compete with the DeathAdder, Finalmouse, or even Logi’s own G Pro Wireless?

I got my g502 in 2014 from EB it costed $179
Loved my logitech G5 that worked perfectly for "over a decade" and I also love its replacement the G502 I bought it in early 2016. I only replaced the G5 because I wanted something newer. As for the G502 since purchase, there have been zero operational issues with thousands of hours well into the double digits for use. The G502 still works perfectly like the day I bought it. People say this is a heavy mouse and I honestly see no difference coming from the older version. In fact I will say the weight provides more traction to assist with stopping unlike a light mouse that will over extend slightly. (I use a black razor diamond coated hard mouse pad to aid in several tracking areas) I love everything about the G502 and the wireless version is neat. But it is not double the price neat and will only reduce performance if the bluetooth plug is far away. Which in these tests the bluetooth connection is always very close to the mouse. So either your tower is directly next to your mouse within inches or it's on a wire anyway. I will also say a wired mouse has no noticeable drag long as you give the cord some slack near the mouse.
My only complaint over the design is the cloth braiding around the cord. Logitech just can't make a quality braid for their cables as several of their products have the same issues. Eventually there will be a hole and the wire will push out. You can tape the hope or just cut the braid otherwise the wire will kink there and eventually expose wire ruining it. This is a problem for any braided cords. Plus it collects a ton of dust.
Hope you enjoyed my 2 cents on this quality product and I would definitely buy another wired G502 if this one ever breaks.
I'm from same place, same upgrade and same issue. You are right bro. Cheers
I recently got mine as an upgrade to my Proteus Core so I can finally stop traveling with the cable.
I just hope the middle click wouldn't die on me as quickly as it did for my old G502, their choice of using a small smd tact switch as opposed to a mechanical switch like every other button on the mouse definitely shortens this mouse's lifespan. I managed to solder on a new switch but all I could find were so heavy to press that I'd press the side scroll buttons too, good luck finding one that's as light to press on as the oem switch.
As for the micro usb port, I can definitely live with carrying an extra cable around and I already trimmed down an old micro usb cable to fit the mouse so I never have to bring (and risk losing) the original cable.
And as of the price, I got it brand new for ~$100, and I personally love this mouse from form factor to button options/placements so it's an investment that I'm happy to make, plus the inclusion of powerplay support definitely adds some futureproofing to this, assuming Logitech doesn't kill it by the time I can afford it. 'Cause unless/until it breaks, I don't plan on getting anything other mouse anytime soon.
P.S. make the scroll wheel programmable

Before light weight mouses were made of cheap plastic with bad quality internals, hence lighter weight. Nowadays light mouses still retains good quality.

I was so surprised when my friend wanted the lightest mouse possible. I always played on my bed since I didn't have a table, and I used the G203 Prodigy (loved it). Once I got my own desk, I couldn't use the Prodigy anymore, it was way too light. So I looked around and found the G502 Wireless and it is the best mouse I have ever used. Weight is perfect, and the shape is amazing. Super comfortable and just all round a great mouse. I turn off the RGB and I usually get a few weeks of use out of it before having to charge it. Can't recommend it enough.

LTT should really do a tech version of "worth it". E.g. $15 mouse vs $60 mouse vs $150 mouse.
As someone who games a ton, its 100% worth it. Esp, if you're buying the mousepad. Endless charge on a wireless mouse is perfect for my set-up at least.
Yes please
Well that's just insanely subjective. I have a gaming chair, a 144Hz g-sync monitor and a somewhat expensive gaming mouse (steelseries rival 600). I'd argue I'm not playing any better than when I had an IKEA chair, literally the cheapest 24" monitor I could get at that time and a 15 bucks "gaming mouse".
Yet I don't regret any of those purchases because subjectively it just feels better. I sit comfortably, the smooth motion in games is a treat I am not able to ever give away again and my rgb puking mouse just looks nice on the desk. So was it "worth it"?
It's like buying an expensive car: You really don't ever need a Porsche or Mustang or Model S but driving one still feels pretty damn nice.
@@christophmayer3991 That's the point. Each thing has its own percs and the more you spend the more comfort but at the end of the day, if youre running at 60fps and 720p at least, it won't make you play any better. A headset? Yes. A mouse? Only if your current one is unusable. But then again I buy expensive stuff and replace it once every x years so it lasts. Also, warrenty is good with logitech. Linus: G502!!!
heavy mice are better l0l
@@coltont4242 well yes, but no
@@coltont4242 there not very good for competitive play.
I just bought a model O and I've had 3 G502's.
@@ms-dosguy6630 Not that a normal gamer would care
just bought one for £59.90 bargain, love it. Had Proteous Spectrum, Hero, Basilisk v2, now back to the g502 but wireless. Happy days.
4 years later and i love this mouse so much
Reason: The Glorious Model O mouse!
EDIT: Come to the reviews, I'm glad to see everyone else hyped up about this mouse.
This 100x.
@Kingpenguin101 dude this mouse is so expensive for a wireless mouse, the reason people bought the g502 was because it was cheap and good, having it be twice the price is just dumb
it's expensive, but I've spent $100 before and this thing looks WAY better than any wireless mouse I've ever owned. I refuse to use wired, so it looks like they just sold another unit!

Model O
what kind of fucking barbarian prefers wired vs wireless.
theres nothing to like about cables you fucking alien lol they bring exactly zero to the experience.
ikr
@@MrRishik123 do you known paracord? And also I'm pretty sure if I had to go out with a wireless mouse i would foelrget the dongle
Does the light speed still have the double clicking problem as the hero? Because the hero started double clicking after only a year of use
you see the curser moving on the moniter when he is talking : )
Still enjoying my original G502 Proteus Core

You need Cables, why not keep it?
What is it you say here?
@@lucasrem Can you write questions that make sense?
Why capitalize "cables"?
What is the "it" you're referring to?
Why ask what people are saying while replying to what people are saying?
What?
same here, I keep laughing (at/)about people buying new mice because their old ones broke or something.
Virutally indestructible, nicely heavy, strong corded cable, wide DPI range, loads of buttons and control; Nothing of a reason for me to ever get another one (though i was interested in this video obviously ^^).
@@jackik1410 To be honest, I just fancy a change. Also want to try a lighter mouse out.
@@itIsI988 I though about that aswell, but i'm too lazy to move around, which is why i use higher dpi, which is only controlable for me with heavy mouses ^^

Hello
Justin Y. can I have your autograph
Hello there
me too
Wow... That was fast...
Still using my 502 Proteus Core. Still my favourite mouse. Much prefer the extra weight. Design and construction is spot on.
Was looking to upgrade from my 502 proteus. Thought about the G Pro, but I'm sold on the light speed because I really like the feel of the 502.
Love how you segue into sponsors. I've come to expect it and look forward to it.
1:10 lol u can see the mouse moving on the screen in the background
The ghost wanted to touch the mouse really badly
Yeah I saw that too and its really annoying
Yes
Sighs in OCD.
Bro the commentators notice EVERYTHING in a CZcams video
1:14 You can see the cursor on the monitor in the background moving around when Linus waves the mouse
great review, all i needed to know before buy ;)
that's really weird that people want lighter mice, I've always preferred heavier ones
glad to see im not the only one i rather dislike the feel of some of the newer gaming mice , too small and light , even my g600 feels too light and could be a bit larger
As a person who has tremors,(which gets worse as I age) heavy mice all the way.
People follow the hype
For smoothing your mouse inputs (whether for preference or due to tremors) I can heartily recommend SteadyMouse.
The developer is a pretty cool guy.
My g502 also has all of the weights in it. That's one of the reasons I love the thing so much. I'm very heavy-handed with my mouse, which is the same reason I have cherry mx Brown switches in my keyboard. Stands up to my brutish actions lol
Ending Credits...Editor: An AI Machine (>'O')>
Probably just means someone under probation lol
@@george8859 maybe it's actually an AI machine, i've seen austin do it
Got this on black Friday with charging mat for a little under $200. Looks like a lot of sites still have the G502 wireless for $99.99 this week too.
Bought the G903 Hero Wireless, initially wanted to test and to return it...I cannot return it, I fell in love with it. Bought after 2 weeks the G502 Wireless Hero based on same idea, hmmm it is absolutely superb mouse, looks better than G903 but for some reason it is not comfortable to me making it feel not so responsive, even though they are using exactly the same sensor (16k hero).
Edit: forgot to say, I will keep the G502 also, is way too sexy and needs to stay in my home.
The only one thing to NOT buy it is the lightspeed increase of price.
I have a Logitech Proteus spectrum and I can say that even without the weights in it is too heavy to get an actual upperhand in competitive gaming. I would recommend getting the Glorious model O. Better than final mouse and only $49.99. You could compare it to final mouse but final mouse is only better by being 7g lighter, other than that the model O does everything else better such as Max Dpi, comforbility, variation of colors and rgb, and htz. Plus final mouse products are $240+ because ninja signed his name on it and they are milking it by being a low stock company.
@TehAvenger29 Who cares about a battery when you have a powerplay mousepad which gives you infinite battery life ?
Looks like you're just poor.
@@devinsaenz8121 yeah if a mouse is too heavy you're a pussy. Just saying
I have the OG G502Proteus Core. It is still awesome.
Glorious_LDR92 Same.

You need Cables, why not keep it?
the most durable mouse I ever had, like it's already five years old with only some minor issues which are still acceptable seeing it's age
I have 2 brand new in the box back up RGB versions for when my main one dies
Same here since the launch, the only thing to report is the braiding on the cable starting to deteriorate, but they fixed it with the hero and this one I guess
I made it... Took me 1 year.. But i just get it today, and re-watching the review lol.. This mouse is definitely premium at least feels premium..
So how was the mouse still functioning well?
Gotta love you are reviewing a wireless product and the sponsor is cablemod.
Linus: Give me ONE reason NOT to upgrade
Me: I already have a G502...
SoMNoM yay! Same here haha
Lmao same
i guess you don't know what upgrade means
@@AlessFD Wireless when it offers nothing to the user is not an upgrade.
@@flarpman2233 If it has the same input lag, weight, and everything else but it's wireless, it's a direct upgrade.

And here! 👋
@Xtergo right here
Still going strong after 5 years

i love how on the monitor in the background you can see how the mouse is moving because linus has it in his hand 1:09
When you were talking about weight, I noticed the 602. I love my 602, tbh. Still upgraded to the 502 LS, but the 602 is great.
I also have the G602, I bought it in 2014, is there a worthy replacement for the G602 ?
@@CanaleCZcamsGeneralista I don't think there are many that will have the same number of customizable buttons, but tbh, I found I never used them on my mouse so I upgraded to the FPS focused 502 LS (wireless). It comes with a really nice wrapped cord if you feel like going wired and comes with four 2g and two 4g weights.
the 602 comes off as a MOBA/MMO mouse, so if I had to hazard a guess, the Razer Naga line looks comparable. There's the Logitech 600, there's also the Corsair Scimitar. I haven't used any of these.
@@m.a.d.pandagaming6895 I state that I do not play, gaming does not interest me, on the G602 I have never used the various keys either, I like a minimal mouse like the deathadder v2 pro, G703, unfortunately I can not find a decent wireless mouse, they all have problems, the gaming ones with integrated battery have a ridiculous autonomy, 70 -100 hours maximum, I was thinking about the G603, M720, G305, MX master 3, orochi v2, my hand measures 19 x 10, which one do you recommend ? Almost all logitechs have problems with double clicking, they use poor switches.
