Who's excited for Dakar 2024?? All you need to know www.redbull.com/int-en/events/dakar-rally
Come to cyprus kalopanayiotis the have a big rally track mix enduro track me and my dad go there all the time with our buggy
A 4 stroke would have been way superior on this trail.
Pero menos emocionante y menos espectacular.
4t vs 2t es como arcade vs simulador
will you sponsor Kove?
Motorcycle averaged 37 miles per hour or 60 kph based on 4km track length and 4 minute time....37mph is not real impressive sounding is it? So the car was 6% faster? so 66 ish kph? So 41ish mph....still not mind blowing speed. The thing that really hampers a motorcycle on that section is all the damn ROCKS....skinny tires and rock strewn terrain dont jibe well ....had that been like groomed surface with 17" super moto wheels? I think the bike could have beat the car or at least would have been close IMHO....
300cc 2 stroke, one wheel drive vs 3.5lt twin turbo, four wheel drive.
Wade did a great job to keep the gap so small 👌
Yes he did. He is a fantastic rider.
@@Angrysagamer
No argument from me there
🙂👌
I would say that's not a fair fight
should of used a 450 or the ktm 500
Agree, he was in the zone and had that thing floating over everything, maybe if the truck was 2wd it would've been more fare.
That rock flick at 3:31 is crazy.
You noticed it too? haha I was like "Damn that rock is gonna land in Europe"
It was going places, rumor has it applied for a passport...
"With age comes the cage", Wade risked so much more in every corner 😅
Yeah, those bowling balls all over had my ars puckered.
Should have been a Dakar bike vs the Dakar car, and for the spectacle, could have thrown in one of the massive Dakar trucks!
shoulda coulda woulda
and maybe a stock Impreza... hahah
What was wrong with that bike?
@@smileplease1971 2 stroke, gearing too short, suspension too soft. a 4 stroke rally bike might have had a bettter chance, as someone mentioned below.
@@smileplease1971 Shercos are tuned for hard enduro and are not the fastest!
Given some test runs I am more than sure that both of them will be able to shave off even more time ; it should have been a 450cc Dakar bike though .
One of the few terrains where 4 wheels wins. More technical terrain would have tilted the tables significantly. The dirtbike was traction limited on the loose rocks. You put any kind of boulders or trees in the way and a dirtbike smokes anything.
Thinking the same thing. Going into corners with loose rocks and a cliff edge would temper any rider. Very hard to get traction on the way out as well.
Rubbish.. cars are ALWAYS quicker if corners are involved..
Look at every racetrack in the world..
I've had so many idiot bike riders tell me they're quicker than me and my Evo.. I've never lost yet..
Bike is only faster in a straight line, and in today's age a lot of cars are becoming much quicker..
@@allanmaccaul1465 not really. It depends on what the surface is and if there are any techical obstacles. On road and gravel corners sure.
take motogp and F1 .top racing
@@justinmccoy7167 F1 is faster in any track
Lesotho resident here so proud to see this video❤❤❤❤
As soon as a saw the conditions of the road I knew it would be the truck. All that loose over hard pack makes traction very difficult for bikes to corner and accelerate. The AWD and 4 wheels is a big advantage in those conditions.
The Race was more for pleasure.
The view, the track and the sound❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you all🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I just want an extended cut of only the FPV drone follow, by far the best shot
I was just talking about this the other day. I've been on that road - in a bus. It was terrifying.
Perfect sportman spirit ! Kudos!!!
Enjoyed this as I have done the pass in winter and enjoyed a beer or two in the pub. Amazing scenery and enjoyed the snow at the top, scary to think how quick these two did this.
Much more respect to the motorcyclist. You need major skill and physical endurance to do that.
Endurance for sure but 4wheels requires more skill coz it's simply faster
One driven wheel vs. four driven wheels. Good effort for the moto, and it's still the winner in my book.
To do that on a dirt bike, you have balls of steel!! 4 wheels it would be so much easier.
but one wrong move and you're falling down, on 4 wheels it is easier to fall down something like that
what are sou talking about?? the car is on the edge of the cliff all the time even one wheel gets out of the track at some point
I don’t know what I did to get RB recommended on my page finally, but I’d do it again. 🔥
Reposted Comment: In my humble opinion the bike would be on the back end of it all the way. Firstly we have a single traction/drive source versus four on the Dakar buggy. Add to that the loose gravel sand and rocks. It's a no brainer. Put the same kind of power down on a race track in similar power to weight ratios, the bike will most certainly take it...WELL IF the track has sweeping corners to add to the argument. If the race track has sharp bends, a race car has once again far more going for it through corners than the bike which has the rider coming in hard on the brakes before accelerating again. To prove the point there is a video I think with a Lambo and a superbike around Monza, and the car took the flag. This to me is more like a publicity stunt for RedBull and the Toyota Dakar truck. Well anyhow, a great video and great action from both Geniel and Wade. I remember doing a stint around Zwartkops with Geniel once many moons ago in a Nissan 350Z.... Pooofff the years had gone by, but Geniel still has the edge!
--->the power to weight ratio is actually BETTER for the bike, and
--->yes sand, rocks and loose gravel, thats a dakar trail,
--->four wheel drive vs one , yes thats why cars perform better, they have four wheels you know
This track should be yearly event like Pikes Peak! This was soooo good!
For the upcoming race, he should ride a 450cc motocross bike.
He will surely be able to run at the same pace.🏁
Not so sure, race was won or lost on the long straits . Four wheels driving and more top end speed took the win .
needs more like a 700. he lost so much time in the straights
Yeah, you could really hear it bogging down on the hills. 2 smokes have their place but sustained hills don't let them breath
I don't think so. You could let him ride a LC4/690 tuned to 90 hp and he would still loose. It's the traction, not the engine power that decides the race.
@@f.h.9606 He was bogging down, the engine sounding too high-geared. A 4-stroke thumper would just plough on but 2 strokes need to be in the zone or their power advantage evaporates
Wow this is amazing love your work.
As soon as I saw all 4 tires spinning I knew who was gonna win.
Also, so glad to see Klaus the goldfish diversifying his roles beyond “American Dad”.
Rode this pass on a bicycle. Never had a problem with washing out on a single corner going uphill once!!!!
A four stroke rally bike would have been faster than the bike they used. Still, that rider kept it really close on that two stroke that was struggling to keep the rear wheel hooked up.
a four stroke rally bike would not have been faster! clearly you have never ridden one.
@@MrKdr500 clearly you haven´t too! If not a rally bike at least a 4 stroke 450! And Sherco isn´t the fastest 2 stroke 300, they are tuned to mainly go through obstacles and hard enduro.
Would a tuned WR 450 work. Tbh I haven't even got a dirt bike yet.
@@vinceking7878 for sure a WR 450 would be a better match, it even didn´t have to be tuned!
@@ruimatos46 Cool. What about the new KTM300sx tbi?
It should have been a race to the top, and free for both which way to take up there. I am not familiar with the venue, but I would suspect the hard enduro rider could do some impressive hillclimb-stunt to cut corners and arrive at the top even faster than when limited to follow the road up...
I loved the shoe drinking that was hilarious 😁😆🤣💀, cool Video 👍💯
I've been up that road a few times on a dirtbike and a 4x4. Scary on a bike trying to go as fast as you can😅
Should try it in a 2 wheel drive rental, haha. We had to push a lot... it took about an hour.
Im glad everyone noticed the equipment disparity here. They’re racing a rock crawler against a high speed weapon
As a cameraman ive been up this pass many times and yes its wild especially when snowing😊
Its unreal at how quick they actually did this, took me if I remember correctly about 45 minutes from the border post in winter. Low range all the way because the road was very slippery towards the top.
Really interesting, but as many others I think the bike has a too small engine...
I don't know if something could really change... but 4T bigger bike engine I think could take much more speed during straight road...
Thanks for sharing!
I'm actually surprised it was that close.
Why not compare it to Rally bike with rally driver?
Ye true dakar rally bikes have more power
A 4 stroke 450 would have been far faster Why select a 2 stroke of smaller displacement?
He usually rides that when he does enduro( he is used to it basically)
2 strokes are much better for hard enduro than 4 strokes.. they lug much better
we know it, but this is the point mate, I am pretty sure that Kevin Benavides in a 450 rally (what would be actually fair) could fight with the car.
First thing I thought as well. It would corner way better
Not true
I think a fair competition would be a 2wd truck. The bike struggled to get a drive out of the tight corners. Or a Christini 2wd bike...
Oh wow sensational😍😍
Wade is an A1 hard enduro rider. That bike is designed for single track. Now let's see the rally Hilux try do that!
Very cool video guys 👏
You should race up mt Hutt road. Nice video.
As someone with a ktm and a rally car, I've often wondered which would be quicker.
Sani pass isnt that bad a road unless you drive it like that. It is THE ROAD up into eastern Lesotho and they take two wheel drive trucks up it and usually make it. Yes, the ZA guard gate will allow locals in 4x2 through, despite the 4x4 only sign for tourists like us. The only issue you may have in a 4x4 is when meeting oncoming traffic, it can be a narrow squeeze to get by.
Very skilful bike rider, but both that bike and its rider are more suited to slower, tougher going then that. Perhaps next time have rally bike v rally car.
And one of the big twins from back in the day (Yamaha or KTM) could have wiped the floor with the truck
The sound of that two stroker is music!
Haven driven and ridden such roads in the American PNW, I expected this result, loose big rocks are sooooo destabilizing for a bike. Gravel or sand might help, but tighter turns, skinnier trails, or big boulders that a car would have to rock climb over but a bike could hop over or go around would help the bike for sure
A big bore solid axle sport quad might actually do well here
Incredible!!
despite all the motor sport geniuses in the comments.... I always thought bikes beat cars. Everytime.
Watching it 3x, I do see the cycles limitations. 2 stroke is just fine, but a bigger displacement would even it up (and win)
Lighter is always better. The rocks/traction put him down.
The dude putting down the boot beer is a hero. You take your chances, and you pay your price... like a real man.
I like this host. He's great.
I don't know who the 'host' was, but he was great. Very funny and I liked his enthusiasm. Usually I skip over the talking to get to the action, but not in this video.
He'd make a great Santa for sure
you ought to check out cape town cruise /david coulthard then....also brad binder and him did a clip, super entertaining guy
Demn that truck is shreddingggg💪
Yooo.......That truck more looks like an carnivores beast😂
Balls of steel
Wade Young is a stud!
Thought the difference was going to ve bigger. But congrats to wade for doing it, not just because he is a hard enduro rider, but also he was on a two-stroke. Different story would have been if you put Josep Garcia in a 350 or 450 up that mountain. But at least we have an entertaining video.
Two-stroke 300cc is stronger and faster than 350 maybe 450.
@@FernandoSaling bro you really dont know what you are talking about. For hard enduro and technical seccions 300 obviously is better. En enduro GP it is also good because of fast cornering. But for more displacement and keeping momentum over corners 4 strokes are waaaay better. Why do you think they use them in any type of open desert, XC or motocross race??? That type of engine works better in open type of racing or riding. Before comenting things without sense try the bikes and use you logics on why pros use them in each type of discipline
@@titigarciaenduro5568, thank you for clarifying.
I agree. While 300cc 2 strokes are kings of hard enduro/tight woods trails, a 450 MX bike can't be beat for a challenge like this. A 450 MX bike would eat that hill for lunch and probably gap that truck by 10 seconds or better. Props to the truck driver though, I think he's dealing with much greater consequences if he makes an error.
Thank you @@mmaaddict78.
I'd have cut some corners done a bit hill climbing 😂
Now we have to see with an F1 car, MotoGP bike, and Rally Car as well!
Maybe a just a regular size Red Bull instead of a king can for the announcer next time?
hahaha fr
I wonder what time difference there would be doing the same course, but going downhill? Or would that be just too insane?
That was always going to be a one-horse race
Loose rocks , relatively flat road definitely had me predicting the truck before it started
Need to run this in winter when all the hairpins are iced up
was that shoe at the end worn? :))
These guys know their stuff...😮
VERY cool!! Its not 2 wheels vs 4, its 4 wheel drive vs 1. Not a huge surprise. Those giant Baja tires can make boulders into marbles. A few less mini boulders and a few more tighter turns and the bike may have had a better shot.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands, Jeffrey Herlings is laughing his socks off! Bring on da riddim’
2 stroke is good on trails not here, do it again with a proper 4 stroke 450.
Yeah Wade would have been faster on the Sherco 450 on that terrain.
Adorei ❤❤❤🎉
that amaizing
That was Good Fun
amazing... 🙂
👏👏👏gogogo Red Bull💪👊💪
Got to admit my money was on the bike. Figured it had a better power to weight ratio, and better line options going up where the truck would be better breaking and hold a better average speed though the corners. I was guessing the truck would do 410ish.
The Beast - CR 500 R would be a great choice to run against!
camera man never dies 4:00
I would agree with other viewers that this is not a fair comparison. You should have placed a Dakar Rally rider on his Dakar Rally bike against a Dakar Rally Car. Motocross and Dakar Rally are two completely different disciplines with different motorcycles.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥... show
Pol Tarres on Yamaha Tenere 700 would win the car
probably not
Very unlikely
Unbelievable I can't believe this how how

Should have raced a 450 ktm😮
Why not compare with a 500cc 4 stroke?
or 500cc 2 stroke
Install some traction control on it and maybe it has a chance. Overcoming 800hp and 4 wheel drive on a reliably flat surface. I don't know. @@dgo5929
A 700cc adventure bike would have been a more accurate comparison as far as power to weight and especially top speed. The 300 is probably topping out at 60 or 70 on the straights depending on the gearing but a 700 would have no problem hitting 90+ on dirt with a good rider.
"oh this could be a cool video, I hope they don't just constantly swap camera angles in some editor jizz-fest!
Oh."
“One of the most dangerous roads in the world.” Looks like a typical forest service road in British Columbia.
A cara dos pilotos foi tipo:

Wonder what the power loss difference between the two was because of the attitude?
"A shoey" has to be one of the most South African things I've ever heard of 😂
Sounds Australian to me!
Not really. As @gbone7581 points out, this is a tradition that started with Daniel Ricciardo, the Australian F1 driver, when he finished a race on the podium.
I know nothing about Rally but I honestly thought that the bike would have had a bigger advantage in the corners. The bike just could not overcome the displacement. That rally car was pretty impressive. Very cool to watch. I would like to see more scenarios like this.
It’s not a displacement issue, it’s a traction issue, especially corner traction.
What would have helped the bike more than additional power is some goods ruts or banked corners. A bike doesn't have a lot of grip on a flat corner.
@@youtubeaccount9058or some rain the night before would have really helped the bike.
It's not about power or displacement. The bike can't be stable on the corners, and doesn't have that much power on straight line. So it has no advantage at all.
With a rally bike, wich are 4 stroke, you have more traction and therefore stability, and you can also go way faster since rally bikes usually have a longer gearing.
That's true. Flat corners are slippy on a bike. Probably was not even fair in the power to weight ration either. That car had so much power. But it was still cool to watch. @@motofunk1
Perfect condition to favor the truck with all the rocks that are big enough to disrupt the bike but not too big to disrupt the truck. This might be the one in a million dirt roads the truck beats the bike.
Eu gostei ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I want some of whatever that presenter is on
Well, the there were literally to berms for the bike to ride against in the corners, which means the rider has to slow down to a crawl so they don't wipeout.
Man that looks soo much easier than when i did it in a 2 wheel drive car in the winter, icy and cold! great fun!!!!
60kmh average with the bike is crazy
Men live for adventures like these
Don’t forget that in the Dakar, bikes go first (no tracks to follow) and they don’t have a designated navigator.
