People should not discredit this game, and instead celebrate the fact that such a good JRPG series is now easily accessible to the mainstream market.
As a fan of Octopath Traveler, the story of this game is up to par, if not better than the first game. The storyline is more unified so there's no confusion for the story like OT1, the worldbuilding is more fleshed out, and there's a ton of content in the game. And most importantly, unlike most other gacha game, there's no "best unit" in the game; everyone is viable, and everyone can be broken with the right build. Just play whoever you want.
I highly recommend this game for any Octopath Traveler fan or anyone interested in the series overall. It is just that effing good.
I'd say play it before it goes EoS and they release a paid offline version like KHX, which is highly likely, as they want to close the story soon.
