- The woods or forests are areas that can be some of the most relaxing and peaceful places to be at when you need a place to clear your head, go on a walk or when you want to get a taste for the outdoor life. At the same time however, the dense forests and ease in which you can become lost can create the exact opposite feeling and cause fear and paralyzing anxiety. The forests play host to all types of wildlife, dangerous vegetation and if you’re not looking at where you’re walking you can easily injure yourself if not worse. Which is exactly why we’ve chosen to highlight them in today’s video. So from a possible witch seen in the woods to what some have claimed as irrefutable evidence of a sewer monster. Here are 5 scary videos filmed in forests...

MAN vs MOUNTAIN LION,man WINS.
That’s what you’re supposed to do. You make yourself loud and big to scare them off.
And im pretty sure that lion wasnt hungry
When dealing with animals that may attack, you respond in a specific way: Make yourself look bigger, make a lot of noise, do not stand still, and do not run away. Unless the animals is defending cubs, it will likely back down. if it is defending cubs, you have a problem.
It's basically one of very few things you can do to survive tho. Mad respect indeed lol
There's something in the woods, it's enormous, probably dangerous. Better let the 2-pound dog out 🙄

Deadly mountain lion approaches:
Man: hello mr mountain lion
Lion: am I a joke to you

But VERY fitting, as I had hoped at that moment the lion burst forth at such speed, guy drops camera, friends run away, then all we see are bushes, but hear cat growling, man screaming, bones crunching. Then a cut-away as soon as the lion drags the bloody meal into the scrub brush.

Mountain Lion: It doesn't matter if you're afraid or not. I want lunch.
Cats are ambush predators, big cats included, and therefore are very risk-averse like most ambush predators. Unlike for something like a lion or tiger, who are big enough to easily take someone down, a large full grown male human is usually large enough to make a mountain lion think twice about a frontal attack. The bigger and louder you make yourself, and the more you make it apparent that you know it’s there, the better off you usually are when being stalked by one.
That was freaky though.
Actually, when confronted by a mountain lion, standing your ground and fighting back is the recommended course of action. If they don't have the drop on you, they tend to chicken out. He played that perfectly.
Who recommends this course of action?

Paladin Danse Disliked that. . .
Or your current girlfriend... 😁😂😂
I suspect the second one is a hoax. The initial reaction when she was panning by the window was just too immediate and seemed planned.
The scariest one was probably the cougar encounter. I work in an industry that comes into contact with wildlife of this sort occasionally, and he played it exactly the way he should have (assuming he wasn't making direct eye contact as well, because that can provoke them as well). If he would have ran, that tells the cougar you are in fact prey. It take a lot of will power.
The second one was definitely a hoax. She was way too willing to go check out a "huge unknown creature" in the woods.... and there was very little care given for the little dog so they knew what was up. I live in the country and if anything "of mystery" happens around my house, the weapon I grab will scale up to the level of unknown.
@@1MoTimeRound I facepalmed so hard when she panned the camera around to her husband holding his phone instead of a gun. The cougar and the wire are the two scary ones for sure.

J&E RC No offense, but are you calling your sister a hog, lol? Cuz that’s what it was.
😂
The first video was likely caused by the wind sweeping through the trees. They're probably deep inside a forest area, where the low winds only have trees to blow through. If there were an open area nearby, there wouldn't be any sound, but the wind blowing through trees makes a low moaning sound. That also explains the seemingly random rhythyms of the sound.
My cat tries to intimidate me into feeding him treats too, but it doesn’t work because he’s 7 pounds lol
That dude with the cougar is a whole lot calmer than I would have been.
DogHumpsMonkey it's scary but people have to learn to stand ground against most predators, they can run faster and jump higher than us, running is suicide even though it's instinct to do so.. and with cats especially, always face them, some cats like tigers refuse to attack something if they can see your face and wait for you to turn your back. People in some parts of India wear masks on the back of their heads for that reason, creepy stuff.
If you run it means you're a prey
JЭRICKO What if you run directly at it?
@@DogHumpsMonkey then she will be on her defense mode which is a bad situation for you.
JЭRICKO I find the best defense is to not be in places where there are things that will eat me. I have a serious aversion to getting eaten alive. I walk through marginal neighborhoods at night, no problem. Bear infested woods (I actually had an encounter with a black bear the very last time I went hunting), shark infested oceans, gator infested swamps, nope! I take “here thar be monsters” warnings very seriously.

Totally respect to the guy, as a person that lives in an area that has a lot of mountain Lions Ninety percent of the time you don’t hear or see them until it’s to late. Always guard your neck and face.
That guys lucky he stood his ground with the mountain lion. If he ran automatic predator/prey instinct woulda kicked in and that lion woulda went straight for the neck hold.
All he had to do was pick up rocks and throw them at it. It would have taken off like a rabbit. If you go into a place with wild animals, Google to see how to protect yourself. Not hard.
David Lynch oh now I see. I Guess I assumed that not everyone can immediately react perfectly and do what google says in an unexpected life threatening situation. My bad.

NEVER look directly into s big cats eyes!!! That’s seen as aggressive behaviour.
“I’m not afraid of you!”... was he trying to convince the mountain lion or himself? 🤣🤣
Both ways. In such cases, sometimes faking confidence can put your anxiety levels down. Also seeing the lion, his adrenaline may have also been high so yeah.

The booby trap wires are sadly common, there were a rash of these straps in my area a couple years ago.

THE number one rule when encountering a mountain lion is NEVER turn your back on it, always keep your eyes on it. Some people while hiking even wear shirts or hats with human faces on them to keep mountain lions from attacking. But yeah, if that guy had turned around for any longer he'd be gone.
@@skitykittycat To be fair it's pretty much the number one rule for all large cats.
Good advice. I’ll wear a shirt with Mr. Bean’s face on it. No mountain lion will come near me while hiking.
It likely decided not to attack because it knew it wasn't hidden anymore. Cougars attack from a stealth position and they don't like their prey to know that they're about to be attacked. They do not like head to head combat
I love hiking and understand how you're supposed to deal with mountain lions, but I am 90% certain I would panic, run, and get mauled to death.
Well if it makes you feel any better, you wouldn't be expected to run that far.
@DogMex If you come to Australia and hike you don't have to worry about dangerous animals like wolves and bears. Just don't act like an idiot and you can sleep under the stars. It's great fun and you can see the milky way. :)
@Botanist 95 haha that's true. Usually they avoid you but if you harass them or are near their area they will attack. Campfires scare them away and use items that's purpose is to lure them away like sprays. Most important rule never leave food outside. You don't want critters coming back. Also, when I say Australia I mean the outback but not the central Australia as it can reach 1 degree outside. I got a cold from doing that. The best experience is camping outside with just pants and shirt eating a meal next to the campfire then sleeping in your bed in the open. Good luck! Before you do this read online and do some research. :D
You would be far less likely to panic from a growling mountain lion that might attack you if you had invested ten dollars in a small pocket sized "Pepper spray, or tear gas " sprayer. They usually have approx.. ten seconds worth of spray that hurts the eyes so badly for hours, but will not kill nor damage the eyes of the lion, or bear, whatever. That guy on the film hopefully got pepper spray for future hikes in the woods.

does anybody else think that whoever put that steel cable up on the biker trail also left a camera nearby to catch what happened??? ..they should have checked the trees nearby

Adam was incredibly brave. To maintain his composure in that situation was amazing. I get the feeling that the cat has had human contact (the non-killing kind) before.
I agree. That was very odd behaviour for a cougar. They would pretty much never come out of their hiding spot, and given the forward-facing ears, stance, and tail, it seems to be incredibly calm and not aggressive.
Also the point when you hear the roar sounds like the normal stock sound, so either someone added that later, or the guy played it from his phone to try and scare the cougar.
Hunting cougars remain hidden and don't calmly walk up to prey that are facing them. The most disturbing aspect is the the possibility of this cougar being socialised or fed by humans.

That mountain lion would have been an awesome experience. It wasn't stalking, it was just curious about the human who wandered into its territory. It's probably used to seeing humans. The guy was simply being escorted to the edge of the lion's territory. The lion stopped, looked at the sign, and then casually walked back. This is most likely because it scented the sign post as a marker and it really doesn't care what the human does outside of its own territory

When I was hiking in California a mountain lion was following me, but I only realized it was there because my dog wouldn’t look away from it. It stayed 30 yards from me but followed us for a good 3 miles. If I hadn’t have brought my Doberman I don’t know what would have happened. Having him with me probably saved my life more than once.
Scare Theater did a good job explaining the air trumpets with nearly every uploader forgetting to edit out the same bird sound.

Alright I grew up in northern Michigan numbers 5 is called tree talking 🤣it’s a Collection of Sound waves from so many different tees moving back and forth. The reason that it becomes so loud is because your hearing trees from miles away as the sound travels and build up
That mountain lion video is the reason I never go into the woods without a firearm.
At 15:08 the mountain lion points at the sign as he wants to say" Can't you read dummy? It says private property. No trespassing. "
How do know it says that?
@@Ian-gx9mn you just know
@@sleepychicken6185 Dude it's a trail. Trails don't just randomly lead onto private property. It's most likely a sign for hikers or maybe a caution sign for some sort of utilities that could be underground or overhead. Trespassing signs are red, not yellow. That's how I know.
@@Ian-gx9mn when you can't get a joke
For all you know the signpost could be there to warn hikers about the wildlife, so this comment would make even more sense. Large cat looks at sign, "He didn't read the sign, did he? Of course not. Why do they never read the sign? Why do we even have this here if nobody reads it? This shit is getting old."
I live in Montana, and worked in remote areas of Glacier National Park for 4 years. I’ve got a theory about the first clip; it may be very strong winds blowing through the mountains, especially if there are caves nearby. Under just the right conditions, gale force winds can make some really crazy sounds in mountainous areas. The whole region acts like an enormous wind instrument, with the sound waves reverberating and resonating in the valleys and cave systems.
Also, never let your guard down in mountain lion territory. Bears and wolves seem much scarier, but it’s mountain lions that really scare the shit out of me. They seem small, but their jaws are powerful enough to crack open a human skull, and their preferred method of killing is to sneak up on larger animals from behind, pounce on them and break their necks, paralyzing them. They are _incredibly_ silent and stealthy, and will patiently stalk you for _miles_ , waiting for you to stop and let your guard down. In most cases of mountain lion attacks, the victims were completely unaware they were being followed until suddenly there’s a mountain lion’s jaws around your neck.
If you ever see a mountain lion, it’s important to make a lot of noise and appear aggressive. They’re stealth predators and typically avoid direct confrontation. Throw rocks at it, flap your jacket like a bird, shout and scream at it, and try to get it to back down. And for the love of god, *carry bear spray* (aka: bear mace) with you. It works on more than just bears.
13:45 always can hear this sound in GTA
15:00
Hiker "Im not afraid of you."
Mountain Lion: "Im just reading the sign dude. Do you know which way to Albequerque?"
OK if my dog ran after a large suspicious scary looking "unknown creature" in the forest I would be seriously freaking out and try to desperately to call/grab her back 🤦 These people hardly said anything for awhile! Let alone the nonchalant attitude.
"Oh no"
*Paauuuuusssee*
(I think it goes without saying that I agree with the staging argument)
I thought that video was fake until I saw the dogs reaction... Ran right after it, then at the drop of a dime, turns tail and ran
I would have been screaming for my dog to come back, and depending who all was at my house, we would have gone after to try and see what it was, or calling the police. It really did seem they were being nonchalant.
Haha I just left the same comment! So fake! I would have been screaming for my dog to stay close
As a person from Northern Minnesota (hour from Canada), it's very common for dogs to run off into the woods when you're working on your land and running off. Around where this is a near 0 percent chance of you having to worry about it going into your neighbor's yard, it's probably more a concern for hunters (but this isn't in hunting season). In a place like this, the neighbor is probably a good 100+ yards away of drugging through the woods in this area. Given that, most people I know would have yelled "Hey! Get your ass back here!" when you saw the dog go off in a full sprint like that in the woods regardless of whatever it was chasing.
Remnant321 the point is, they didn’t know what was put in the woods and they’re trying to play it off like it’s some dangerous creature and they’re scared, yet they aren’t yelling for their dog to come back.
The second last one, looks like a young man in a mankini.
It was
Borat does gore!
If I met someone in the middle of the woods in a mankini making sounds like that, I'd run for my life
@@TheDeathToaster They were armed with fireworks. They should have lit it's @ss up...
Asksnshsbsb I would still be terrified
I really enjoyed this video. These were actually scary incidents. I believe by the way the mtn.lion was acting she had cubs back somewhere down the trail the dude was coming out of. If you notice both their positions, she probably was out, taking a mom break, getting a bite to eat and drink, and bumped into him coming from the direction her cubs are. That makes her want to get close enough to him, making sure she doesn't smell her cubs on him. She let's him go. But then comes back to just make sure he is leaving. I think he did the right thing. You NEVER RUN FROM BIG CATS EVER!!! All she was trying to do is stand her ground and possibly protect her cubs.
Heard all these sounds "from the sky" during 2010 lying in my bed.Dont live near any woods.i live in Scotland living in a built up suburban area.Since then they've been heard worldwide.
I'd love to know what they are
*hears strange and horrifying noises in the woods while doing fireworks.* “Ahh yes, becuz going towards the sound is obviously a splendid idea.”🙄

It's predating...considering an easy kill.
@MxSpoike I totally agree about both the quality of that cougar sound, and the fact that cougar didn't even really try to stay hidden! It's also clearly still a young lion as it still has markings on it's legs, a kitten-ish face and is still somewhat small. I think you're probably right about the socialization aspect.
That's a young cougar, probably han't mastered its hunting skills or maybe there isn't much game left in the area. Either way it was probablyborderline starving and so looking for whatever it could get, even a man
Not at all. If they are not hungry or afraid, they just go about life. Lions and Zebra coexist rather peacefully until dinnertime. There is even footage of lions saving baby prey from danger. The myth of the constant killer is a myth, unless you are talking about humans.
Agree. I found the behaviour totally out of character for a wild animal. I sure hope that cat survives with all of the crazy gun toting humans, itching to kill something that doesn't look like them..
I would have been getting ready to pull a “Liam Neeson The Grey” with that mountain lion lol 😂
This video Was Great
..thx
#4 in my opinion seems staged or fake by the way they talk
I agree there was no real emotion in their voices
Most "supernatural" or scary videos are. They're just fun to watch.
I think all of them authentic - until you yourself, are in that position, you just don't know, how you would react 😨
The camera also stays very steady. Not like someone is holding it in their hand.

In asia, some villagers wear masks of a human face on the back of their head to prevent Tiger attacks. Cats notoriously attack from behind.
Maybe painting a face on the back of your bike helmet would be enough to deter a pounce
It's in India. At sundar van - name of the forest!! Honey hunters wear mask at backside of the head as they believe the tigers never attack from back!!!
Tiger's notoriously attack from behind, not cat's. There is a tribe in Africa known for lion hunting. They interlock their arm's and walk side by side straight towards the lion. It confuses the lion
Gut Stomp a tiger is a cat, also you described a tribe walking toward the front of a lion face to face, confusing it. Still sounds like the same concept.
@@gr8nesshumility741 Tiger's are actually the only cat that is notorious for this behavior. For the most part it's just a myth. It really depends on why the animal is attacking you. There is a rather large variety of cats and they are all very specialized hunter's. Male lion's attack from the front and go for the throat or the mouth. Lion's are pack hunters so they try to chase you into an ambush, ideally. Cheetahs attack at high speed, try to stir up the herd, and use their speed and body weight to take down prey. Caracels hunt birds in flight and jump straight into the air to catch low flying bird's. Ocelots spend most of their time in trees and will drop from above. House cats are scavengers and would rather dig a hole in your trash or wait for you to feed it. I only mentioned the tribe in Africa because I thought it might interest you, since you brought up the villagers in India. Their tactic confuses the lion because it can't tell how big you are, what you are, or how many you are. Again, a male lion will absolutely attack you from the front
That lion was just curious about him. If it was hungry he never would have seen it.
Man: I am much bigger than you
Mountain lion: bitch please. I will eat you for lunch
That mountain lion seemed young and people had probably feed the thing before. He wasn't even in stalking posture. Seemed more curious about if the tall two legged thing had food
