      @Trauma Team Racing your also making a mistake with the FOV calculator. Because you used the bezel correction in Nvidia surround set up you should set the bezel thickness to zero in the FOV calculator Because the resolution you have is minus the bezels

      @@Simlife101 Incorrect. Pre-adjustment width is 7680. Bezel corrected width is 7768. It adds the bezels width into the width to compensate. Hope that helps👍🏻

      Even after making the changes to the rendererDX11Monitor.ini file it still resorts to using a single monitor. Using Nvidia Surround makes a mess of the desktop, but seems to work just fine in iRacing.

      Hi there Sergio👋🏻 Thanks for the kind words. Glad you found this all useful👍🏻
      Welcome to the team💪🏻
      Triple monitors are a game changer and you shouldn't be disappointed. I've done some other guides for triple setup that you might also find useful. If you have any requests please bang them through and I'll do my best👍🏻
      The ASUS kit I did look into but reviews said that the edges were quite sharp and risked scratching the surface of the attached screens. I personally couldn't cope with a scratch so thought not to risk it.
      I have seen some mods with some plexiglass but if I'm honest it they are well aligned, when I'm racing I really don't notice them at all.

      Yeah I didn't think about the potential of the screen getting scratched, I'm the type where I would get annoyed even with a microscratch.

      At 04:30 I talk about where my eye line is in comparison to my monitors. At this point it is 180 degree FOV if drawn to edge of the monitor. The rest of the angles are calculated from that. The calculation tool shows 181 but just round down to 180. In practice your head moves whilst driving and will never be that accurate.

      This sounds like a hardware problem rather than a software problem. Are all your monitors the same? Have you got them ALL connected with the same cable, I prefer display port. Have you got your refresh rate set wrong? Have you updated to the latest drivers? I would start with these first. If these don't work try setting up without NVIDIA surround. Hope that helps.

      Thank you for the support. This is going to be very difficult as iRacing does not allow you to input for different monitor sizes as it assumes they are uniform. This would be possible in ACC and AMS2 for example where I believe off the top of my head you can do this. iRacing does not support 4 screens. My advice, which is probably not what you want to hear, is to get 3 uniform screens to set up your triples for the best and most pain free experience.

    How can you set up 4 monitors like I have for ATS? 3 makes no sense to me because your windshield is not the same width as your door windows. I have my driver side half on the left middle and passenger side on the right middle and then the outside monitors for my doors and mirrors. But in racing the steering wheel is always centered to the display so I’m split in half between the 2 middle monitors instead of it being realistic. I cannot find an option for 4 monitors or a setting to offset the view so I’m in the left middle monitor. I guess the only way I’d feel comfortable using triple monitors is if I bought an ultra wide for the middle and regular monitors for the sides. But it’d still be centered in the middle screen.

      Hi there, thanks for reaching out.
      A triple setup seems to be the industry standard I'm afraid for these kind of sims and I am not aware of any option within the sim to add a 4th monitor to the mix.
      What might be worth exploring is if you could somehow trick your system into registering the middle 2 monitors as a singular display, then head into iRacing and try and get it to get up a triple display from there (with the 4 monitors).
      Don't have any experience of this but that would be where I would start. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před rokem

      In my opinion mixing monitors is a bad idea as this can lead to incompatibility issues. It appears to be unpredictable, especially with different refresh rates. At the very least make sure the refresh rates are all lowered to 60Hz. That might help.

  • @Panterluca
    @Panterluca Před 2 lety

    Fov calculators don’t take perspective into account, so it will only give you accurate figures if you are close enough to the monitors, if you sit further away it’s going to lower your fov to the point where the track looks compressed, in reality sitting further away from a screen doesn’t change your perspective. It’s like looking at a picture on a wall, if you move further back the picture still looks the same, just smaller the picture doesn’t become warped. Race beyond matter does a video where he always uses 540mm as the distance from screen regardless of what it actually is and that will give you a much more accurate looking fov with a good sense of speed, I myself run 186° fov with Tripple 1440p screen and I sit 580mm away from the screens and it looks perfect, I’ve also had a number of real life drivers in my rig one of which races lmp2 cars in the world endurance series and he reckons the fov felt perfectly natural to him right off the bat. So take fov calculators with a pinch of salt especially if you sit further back from your screens, it will cost you a lot of lap time

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 2 lety +2

      Ultimately I feel for FOV there is a lot of room for interpretation and for the uninitiated can be very overwhelming which is why I have tried to keep this simple for those starting out. I have seen his video and if you work out a 180 degree FOV for 27 to 32 monitors you get a figure of 53 - 60cm and his figure falls within that, as does yours.
      For me I like to think of the monitor screen as the windshield and in real life I'd be about that distance away if I was trying to replicate it. I wouldn't be sat 100cm away with a FOV of 120 degrees so for me that would not make sense and I agree with you. The perspective would be off. However if we are talking differences of 10cm from the screen with head movement taken into account I think the differences would be difficult to notice. The distance will fluctuate with c-spine forward flexion/lateral rotation so the distance between you and monitor will never be static. Unless someone straps their head to the head rest.
      I would still recommend an FOV calculator to start and then once someone feels comfortable to then start tweaking from there as it is the best starting point for those with no or limited knowledge on the subject matter.

    Maybe there is something i do wrong but if i put in my bezel corrected resolution, i don't have full screen anymore but in both of my right and left screen missing 3 cm.
    In AMS2 i will have 2 grey vertical lines in the front window...
    Now if i don't select my bezel corrected resolution everything seems okish. In AMS2 looks good, in Iracing looks good i think, at least when i race my ferrari. Except my mazda, and here is my biggest question, where is te right mirror supposed to be because its almost at the end of my right screen as for my left mirror seems to be at the correct place. Also my in car mirror just doesn't seem to be where it supposed to be..
    If i put in 180 degrees my fov is messed up, if i let the computer deside its it 148 and what i said before, in my ferrari it seems to be ok but my mazda is not.
    Hope you van help me.

      Are you sure you have run the calculator correctly? You shouldn't have to change with the FOV it should be set to whatever your setup is. You could try changing it from full screen to windowed etc and see if that helps things in the display settings. I would also recheck the angles you measured and make sure these are correctly inputted in the calculator. Hope that helps👍🏻

      So for the others having this same issue, iRacing updated files since this video was released. Instead of going into "thisPc/Documents/iRacing/APPS" you go to "thisPc/Documents/iRacing/RENDERERDX11MONITOR"
      All steps from video are correct, except what file you open. Instead of apps, its the rendererdx11monitor.

    You do not need any external FOV calculator. Just simply put all necessary inputs into MONITORS settings and click "red compute" to get the correct FOV in iRacing.
    and btw, DO NOT use 3 curved monitors option in iRacing MONITOR settings for regular curved monitors. It works only if your curved monitors/projectors form a regular smooth semicircle.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there, thanks for the comment. I believe the FOV calculator is a better starting point than iRacing as it is mathematically more intuitive so easier to play around with. I found sometimes the FOV calculator on iRacing is buggy so I feel this is a better way. I used this as a double check which I believe is sensible and cuts down a lot of messing with the iRacing calculator. I also mention within the video to hit compute. I also say that you need to put in radius of curvature for curved monitors which is the complete radius of curvature formed by all 3, so yes I agree.
