    BMW's oil pump is a gem of engineering, Peter! Ford's oil pump looks crappy in comparison, but it could work decent enough! If you keep the same engine oil for 30000 km then it is no surprise that even well engineered and built oil pumps like this BMW one, break down. I think we could try to disassemble further this oil pump to see if there is something we can fix, and if not we can try installing a used BMW oil pump, in good condition, from a Car Recycling Center!
