- The MacMaster is in Benidorm at The Duke of Wellington also know as Rays 3 for their famous Fish and Chips. In Benidorm there is Rays 1, Rays 2 and Rays 3, Rays 1 being the original location, Rays 2 being the original owners and Rays 3 who told me they actually own and bought the name. However Rays 3 is also a Pub called The Duke of Wellington and serves other dishes apart from Fish and Chips. Loving the benidorm videos as always lee. I had fish and chips at corner bar last week and it was really nice just as good as iris.s batter also. But I still rate marianos chicken chips and salad and alioli wow.

I know how you feel about the "fast" food. Happened to me once at a Chinese. I walked in and placed my order and sat down and started reading the paper they had out. They brought me out my food after 3 mins and it made me wonder how they even managed it. It was like a £30 order for a family of 4. Put me right off.

In New York they deliver so quickly that I accuse them of cooking en route in a wok on the bicycle. Then they think I'm serious and get very defensive.

Great to see you and Lucy doing a video together, my two favourite YT channels. The fish & chips, yeah I've been there many years ago when it was just Ray's and it was just a chippy, good food in those days, also went a couple of years ago and they were pretty average, pub standard fish & chips, no surprise as it is a pub. Three or four minutes to be served is odd, can't get a fillet o fish in maccies that fast lol.
Moving on I have a suggestion, how about a few reviews of a couple more steakhouses, there are a couple near where the Duke of Wellington is - Country Ribs, big place with a large menu, I've not been yet so I'd like your take on it, and completely different experience - La Brasa Steakhouse, a small local family run place, I have been to and the food is fabulous run by lovely elderly couple. Two ends of the restaurant scale could make an entertaining video or two.

I'm surprised how expensive eating out is in Benidorm. Thought it would be a lot cheaper for what you get. Food in the Irish bars are usually good 😊
everything has gone up they just entice you in with cheap drinks but to be fair its probably frozen fish but looked eadible
Darren you need to go to the Spanish Restaurants menu del dia 3/4 courses 10/15 euros Don't worry if you don't speak Spanish you will manage OK

Honestly, fish and chips in the UK and Ireland taste so much better than in the USA, but there is no comparison because the UK and Ireland are known for this delicious dish. Enjoy looks amazing mate

I can remember going to Rays in the Old Town in the 80’s/90’s, unsure if this was the original. It was a proper old fashioned chippy with a few tables inside, fish and chips were excellent.

Great video Lee. I thought the food looked very average as soon as it came out. The batter didn’t look anything like how batter should to be honest. There didn’t seem to have much crunch to it. I think your score of 5.4/10 was fair but as you say, it’s from a pub and not a fish and chip restaurant. Great vlog always mate and loving yours and Geoffs scooter videos. Thanks for sharing buddy👍

Oh and Lee! 8:15 Visit The Clay Oven! It really is good and highly recommended for Indian food! Also! Visit Bar Caiman on the beach! Their Caiman Club sandwich are just simply the best! Well.. For a snack anyway! 😋 🤣

Being a Haddock, not a cod sort of guy it didn't float my boat.

I’m putting my review on here at 15mins mark. Just by looks alone I’d give it a 8/10 as it all looks great to me the fish looked as it was cooked to perfection, and the chips and the mushy peas all looked spot on, as you know by now Lee. I’d have to have a nice mug of tea and bread and butter to go with that. I did the other two Ray’s chippies in January, I thought that Ray 2 war the better of the them all.
I know from my times in Spain both mainline and the islands that Hake is more prevalent that either cod or haddock. But it was nice and firm and very tasty. Salt first then vinegar then more salt.

Lee, I knew that when you said "Okay" the first time, it was going to be similar to the Fisk & Chips you had the first time. Water on the plate to me indicates that maybe it was frozen first? Yes, a 5 or 6 would be about right.
I enjoyed it when I went a few weeks ago, the batter was crispy, the chips and peas were also good. Decent for the price anyway. Maybe you got them on an off day, or maybe I was so hungover I would have ate a scabby cat and enjoyed it😀

Really difficult to know what was going on there. Time between ordering and food arriving shows it could'nt have been cooked fresh. I'm damned if I know how it was done, although the chips did look as if they'd seen the frier for a brief second time!
Was that liquid on the plate water? Whatever it was, it must have come from the fish!
A big question mark about that meal! If I were feeling generous, I might have given it 5.5 but I'm not feeling generous purely and simply because the uncertainty about how it was cooked. For me, it rates no more than a 4.5
Lee you should have gone to the Yorkshire pride where you dropped Geoff off, food is always spot on, yes there is a bit of a wait but well worth it
Lee, the chips didn't look like a large portion the fish was a cod, although the peas and curry sauce were a decent size serving.

Is Benidorm the CZcams capital?? Well at least I'm not left out as I have one up with the Port Vista Oro hotel. Was going great until I got the dreaded lurgy....ie the Rona! Fish and chips look great if a little small, but I find that with all Spainish chippies.
I havnt watched this yet but i will give my score before I see the end but the last supposed best fish n chips in bendorm were rubbish old cold chips refried I know as I always did this in the past and I know the look So I will watch this and give my verdict asap

It was about 4 years since I had fish chips & mushy peas from there, and it was a 7/10 back then. On this occasion, it's sadly dropped to a 5/10 I'm afraid. 👍
