  • At Mile 2045.6 on the Appalachian Trail is the Kennebec River. MAKE sure you do not attempt to ford the River .

    Depth, width, and current are not even vaguely dangerous as water temperature.
    Humans have a 50/50 chance of swimming 50 yards in 50 degree water.
    This is coming from a former commercial diver of the coast of Maine.
    In fall ocean temp at 55 -50 degrees we'd switch out of wet suits into dry suits.
    In ocean 32- 35 degrees, on tank 4-5 one would be flirting with 2nd stage hypothermia sometimes.
    Burned all available calories and running on empty...
