Headed down to this booper for the first Tuesday test today, as I was wanting to record this thing ever since the summer of last year and I finally got around to doing it. For some reason, I suspected that Arlington Heights is either not on NWCD, or they are but not on their main frequency which is on radio reference. Eventually, me and Oliver (FireAlarmExpert25) confirmed they are indeed on NWCD. But, because they always do 3 minutes, I suspected they have Fulton radios in their controls (as they have the same antennas as the sirens in Buffalo Grove, and every other town that is on the Fulton system) and ignore cancel tones every time. Today I proved myself wrong as the FSK did NOT set off AH's sirens, and this Whelen went off with the 4th set of DTMF tones on NWCD's radio reference frequency, but just ignored all the cancellation tones. It was very loud, and rattled the ground! Wasn't as punchy as I was imagining it to be though, but still super impressive for an omnidirctonal Whelen! It was also my second time hearing a 435Hz Whelen up close. Hope you all enjoy!

I love the sound of that siren!
Nice! I was too lazy to use my drone today lol!! Went live instead!
Wow that a Cool Whelen i need to film that in the future
Great shot and awesome video
nice! love those tones
Fr. That custom DTMF and FSK is cool af
Awesome vid Tim!
Glad you loved it! Your vid is great too!
it happened again, sun direction lol. Nice to confirm the frequency. NWCD Map has been updated
It was cloudy af…no shadows whatsoever lol. The drone shot prb makes it look like that as the top of the siren gets the most light than the sides and bottom lol
Ay nice video man!
Thanks man!
Awesome! What a buzzer
Yeah, the mesh really buzzes on this one lol. Ngl, it’s pretty cool when Whelens do that
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Do you know what frequencies tend to buzz the most? I've always thought of 435 and 465hz, but are there more?
@@MichanaAlerting Yeah that and also 450Hz. There is a 465Hz Whelen WPS 2809 near this one which was recorded and it really buzzes
FSK for a Whelen? Usually they just use DTMF tones. I know they did DTMF right before the siren turned on but still usually they just do DTMF for the Whelens but ig not this time. The siren sounds really good.
The FSK didn’t activate it, it was the DTMF later. But Whelens can activate with custom FSK similar to the one in the video if they have custom radios and knowing Fulton, they sometimes put the radios into the controls of sirens instead of outside the controls in a separate box like on the ASC sirens they sell which is why I was scanning the frequency of the Fulton system bc I thought the FSK might be what sets off AH’s sirens but clearly, it’s not the case at all. Mount Prospect’s Whelens used the FSK before they got replaced tho as they were on NWCD’s Fulton system, but they had the Fulton radios mounted outside the controls on the pole in a separate control box. Whelen has their own FSK activation too btw. I heard it and it sounds like a very goofy version of ATI FSK
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Yeah I know it's strange.
@@GabrielCL2T22A yeah Fulton is weird with their setups. I was surprised to find out their radio stuff isn’t as weird…except just some of the FSK commands tho that is. I might attempt to decode some of them to try and figure out what they really are for just so I get a better idea of how the stuff works
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Yeah there are things we wish that we can do but we can't.
