  • Out of everything that could have happened, I didn't expect this.
Lewisville, Texas recently added a couple Federal Signal 2001-130s to its Outdoor Warning Siren System. Today, I went out with ‪@dallasrailfanner3870‬ to see one of the new 2001-130s installed recently.
The city normally uses Whelen Vortex R4s, but to my knowledge they also have a WPS-2906 and WPS-2810, which apparently do voice.
To my knowledge, this was this siren's first test after installation, at least on the monthly schedule.
However, what I didn't expect was the siren to go off in Attack of all things. Normally the city is supposed to do Alert, but this time the system was activated in Attack. I also heard a distant Whelen going in Wail, so either the city changed tones or it was changed specifically for this test.
I'm not sure why this siren was installed considering Lewisville is normally all-Whelen like Farmers Branch, but this one replaced a Vortex R4, like all other 2001s in the city.
Also something else to note was that a (I think) fire marshal was there, so this may have been the siren's first test. Pretty amazing to see, and the steady part of the tone went on for pretty long at some points. This siren is definitely no more than a few months old, as you can see the old siren on Google Maps.
    Siren Info:
Location: Sports Field of Castle Hills (on Lady of the Lake Blvd)
Test Time: First Wednesday at 1:00 PM
I will try to record Lewisville in the future to confirm whether or not they switched to Attack & Wail.

We installed it in April. System does wail now. As time progresses, all units will be replaced with 2001-130s.
