  • Honey Pistachio Halva
Recently I went to a Turkish Coffee place in Anacortes, WA with a friend and we tried a little tray of treats. On that tray was some Pistachio Halva. The last time I tried Halva was when I was in my teens and didn't like it. But I though I would give it a try again and guess what?! I loved it!! So I told my friend "I bet I could make this!" So today that is what I'm going to try to make.
I found the easiest recipe I could. I'll see how it turns out and then decided if I want to try a different recipe at a later day.
Here is the recipe I followed, the only change I made was adding Honey.

Have you every tried to make Halva. Tell me about it and what did you do differently. I would really like to try making this again but I want it to turn out more on the dry side. I feel like mine was still too soggy and doesn't stay set. I will try it again in another video.

the commercially available halva's use a soapwort root mix when added and it's extremely thick, they mix it until it becomes like strands and then it's packaged, the homemade halva's are more dense but are just as delicious, if you want to make a lighter coloured halva you can use light tahini and the colour will be lighter.

I love that I just learned something new! Thank you so much taking the time to leave me a comment. My halva tasted great and I'm looking forward to trying it again.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately no, I don't have a sugar free version. The best I can suggest is using a sugar substitute like Swerve.

Do that and you'll end up with a slimy substance. I suspect all the halva recipes on CZcams are lying because you can't achieve the correct texture without soapworth or something similar, yet they all present a nice dry halva.

Mine defiantly didn't turn out dry. But it was fun to try to make it and it did taste good.
