Got the transmission out and swapped the shift sensor out for their newer version. Getting it reprogrammed and pdk relearned this Tuesday.
Cayman is sweet but it’s definitely not a GT anything. Lose those badges my guy.
Also shoutout to Matt for driving the 997 so far without even a shift knob, working suspension or windows 😂.

It’s people like me that step out side the norm that bring out the Porsche purist and hate comments. I thrive off their negativity. It’s keeps me positive.
Atlanta Speedwerks... PDK experts. One of a few shops that can open a PDK. They routinely replace position sensors. They have an hour long video all about the PDK (Clutches and Poistion Sensor) on their youtube channel.
I’ve been in talks with them, and there is also a place here in Tn in Lewisburg outside Nashville. I wish Porsche would own up to failures like these when they happen. But the % that do fail are so low compared to the number of units sold they don’t consider it an issue.

As a PDK shift sensor victim myself hopefully you can get the sensor replaced. In 2018 the only option was replacement....
Same. This sensor went out on me 2 years ago and T9-design sent me a new one and this one failed so now they sent me V4 of their sensor so I’m currently replacing it with that one and will know in a few days if the new one works
The biggest reason I have zero interest in the 997.2 turbo is because of the first gen pdk in those.

What a small world. I was in the rally tigger was on when it wrecked. I had no idea this was the same car. I was 2 cars behind Tigger when it went straight where it should have turned. It was a bummer.
That was a tragic night. I do appreciate everyone that was on the Revo Rally. Great group of people ❤️.

Did the clutch pedal feel funny after a hard pull? If no hydraulic leaks in the clutch slave and Master Cylinder then it is probably the clutch Pressure Plate. That was happening to my clutch. Pedal always felt fine unless I shifted at a higher rpm.

Perhaps I missed it an a prior video, but if the running gear and the interior from the blue car went into the orange (now chalk) car, what happened to the old running gear and interior from the orange car? Just parted out before the orange shell arrived?

Orange car is only the shell, but BOTH cars were equally necessary to get this project done.

What year did the previous owner get the orange 911? Was it somewhere around 2019/2020? Because I think that might be the other 997 turbo i considered buying back when I got mine.
Hrm. Probably around that time but I'm not sure.
I got the car in 2018 from bellevue, Washington. It was a 1 owner car that started out Atlas Gray. I paid 46k back then.

@@pieterverboven4853they are the pccbs from the 997tt so never painted the calipers and yes I swapped to girodisc on the cayman. Still have the carbon ceramics 😉

understeering into a ditch is what happens when you enter a corner too hot in a rear engine 911 and lift off and slam the brakes instead of powering through it like a man.
I’ll agree to your comment slightly if it was a rwd 911 but awd don’t “power out” of a slide no matter how big of a man ya are. 👍🏼
Lifting or braking will transfer grip from the rear to front. That will cause oversteer, not understeer, with the rear engine in 911 exaggerating this effect.

@@matt13ross Google clutch accumulator. It was a big issue on the 6tt cars and many upgrade to the gt2 slave. Google the subject. Hard pedal that comes and goes is one of the symptoms
Mine has the BBI upgrade.

Adding aero kit and other cosmetic upgrades to car is totally fine. But fake badging and other visuals to trick people is not IMO part of the car people spirt. The GT4 RS did not even release I believe until 2021 and it is using a 911 GT3 engine from cup racing with a turbo pushing like 500hp. This car is nothing like the GT4 RS. As for looking the same, you are missing the aero on the front fenders above the wheels and the dash is not the same.
Actully the 4RS uses the same G6 engine in the 991 gt3’s and they do not have turbos at all, just NA. And yes I am missing the fenders as they have not arrived from Germany yet but they will be in the car and functional as well. And yes the 718 dash is different than the 981 of my car, only difference is the vents. I appreciate your opinion tho. 🤙🏻

Driving fast at night, it’s easy to fall prey to target fixation when there’s a problem.
It was in KY and they had put down chat on the road and when I went around the curve hit the rocks and it kept on going straight. There’s no amount of “powering out” of an awd

Sorry but a 3.4 Cayman S is not almost certainly making 380 to the wheels when a X51 swapped 3.8 Cayman or stock GT4 with FBO would make that. Cool car but dont fake the funk bro lol
Stock cayman S is 325, stock 991 3.4 with the same engine is 350. If ya know the right people you can put a 991 map on the 981 to get the same power at the 991 and then add on customApr tune, catless headers, ipd plenum, 82mm TB, straight piped bmc air filters and dundon intake runners I believe getting 25/30ish HP is well achievable. But what do I know. 🤷🏼♂️
@@Sp00n3r1 you are quoting numbers at the crank. BMC filters gain 0 hp, and the rest of the mods you mention maybe net 350whp max which is 400 crank hp and that is exceedingly generous for a 3.4. Also his car does not have $4k Dundon runners which would likely get him close to that 350whp mark, but again 380 whp (450 crank hp) on a 3.4 9A1 is not happening
I’ll agree with you on those numbers and since the video was made there’s been more addons. But you’re pretty accurate around 400 @crank. And I’m also quoting what apr was telling me with what modifications I have done. I’ve yet to do a dyno to get accurate numbers.

Funny story, 2 comments down one of the guys who was on the same rally can contest. The speed limit was 55 and none of us was doing over 60 when it happened. So definitely wasn’t “spirited” driving that night.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but wasn’t gonna spend 10k on spindles to swap to real centerlocks which are a pain in the ass anyways. And yes the badging was off when this video was made. Suncoast came through and sent me the correct ones.
