GETTING THE SHOT ON A BLUEBIRD POWDER DAY - MountainVLOG 3

- Today we introduce the lovely ms Sofia Sjöberg, who I am lucky enough to have by my side for well over over a decade. Watching her turn her passion for photography into a career is super exciting and in this episode you are invited behind the scenes of the making of a classic "heli style" drone photo.
This is a typical "work day" for a professional freeskier working with a photographer. In order to get untracked snow for these photos, we ski-tour and hike to the start, and even though the runs are over in seconds, the kick of skiing fast, smooth, perfect powder snow lasts long enough to hike back up!
Filming: Jacob Wester, Bine Zalohar and Sofia Sjöberg
Editing: Jacob Wester
Photos: Sofia Sjöberg
Music: Oliver Michael - City Angels
Lone Wild - Stranger Ways
Beneath the Mountain - First Snow
The La's - There She Goes
Just started watching your videos... I cant stop they are too good!
Lol me to9
Same😂 they are addicting
I just watch them wishing I could be there doing that
I have a lot of respects for you for captioning all of your films! Myself as deaf person I truly appreciate it! I SUBSCRIBED! ;)
I’d love to see some of your summer adventures too!
This summer the adventures have been mostly limited to healing a broken leg ;) Up and running again now so they will come!
the one time the algorithm did me good. your shit is awesome dude! thanks for sharing
algo score!
Det är förjävla fint grabbar
Good job, looked fun. Having drones really opens the door to great shots and edits. Can you imagine how much Warren Miller would have saved if he had drones. LOL
Haha yeah, game changer for sure!! We always had the helis, but Mother Earth (and our beer guts) thank us for getting on the drone program ;)
@@JacobWesterSki I could not agree more with everything said above! Keep up bud! awesome content!
Continuing delivering great content - great!
Sick shots, Sofia is getting really good
She says thank you!
Awesome to see you in a different setting man. Have been a fan since your "Amateur" Armada days. Always found that funny your were classified as an amateur lol. You and JP were two of my favorites. Keep shredding the lines bro and we will keep watching. Remember not to french fry when you need to pizza. lol
Thanks for the kind words sir!
That was epic, like artists! 😄
So much potentiel! One of the only smalle youtubers i follow and watch
What a surreal location, fantastic to see your POV. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated!
Great content as always!
SPOT ON AGAIN.
I will say for once THANKS CZcams to recommend me this, love your content, i was anxious about create a series like this for fpv drone shot, i'll make it :)
FPV drones are sick and amazing for shooting skiing!
keep up the content, loving it!
You know what - whilst Jon Olsson is off making boring as fuck vlogs about yachts in Marbella (or whatever), Jacob is still here a decade later giving us prime content. Chapeau to you Jacob.
Haha. Well thanks. Different strokes for different folks (and demographics), I guess 🧐
unreal stuff, you're gonna be blowing up soon
Thank you!
Just stumbled across your channel, cool vid, keep it going
I just found your channel and have been obsessed. Thank you for the content you push out
im enjoying this too nice lines good technique solid.
Thanks Nathaniel!
älskar din kanal dude! När jag ser detta kan jag inte vänta till nästa gång jag ska ut o köra😍😍
Tack! Det är meningen!
that was such a good one!
Super dope! Let us know how long the hikes up are next time!!! Very curious what the hike:ski ratio is :)
Good call! This particular day it took us about 45 minutes to an hour for each line. If we had just been freeskiing, not for video, we would have probably done just one big ascent and skied much slower on the way down to maximize fun-time 😏
Woah!
Yes sir!
Oh yeah Soffan ona da vlog
she back y'all
Great video as usual Jacob! Would you mind talking about how you speak English with a perfect American accent? I honestly thought you were American until I looked up you Wikipedia page.
killer stuff, man my ski videos are weak...
thanks bro! dont be so hard on yourself!
@@JacobWesterSki I need to come do a Chamonix one!
amazing
Sjukt bra content!!
Where is this? btw great content
This is just outside the lift system in Le Tour, Chamonix France.
I love the chill vibes you give me with your vids... Amazing content I love it... Btw the drone is a dji phantom 3 right? I need to buy a drone and this one would be perfect for me
Thank you! It is a Phantom 4 pro!
do you always use a back protector
Most of the times when I'm freeriding yes! If im doing long ski tours or slow technical steep skiing i usually leave it at home to save weight though!
where is this spot in chamonix ?
Is the toplift in argentiere open?
well did u file a flight plan for that drone at least 30 minutes before planned departure?
of course, can't be running around breaking the law, can we.
No way could I hike up that face, multiple times, then ski down. I'm gettin to old
Once the track is in all you need is energy bars and water, the powder is worth it :)
How much does it cost to live for a full season including accommodation??
Thats very hard to say, all depends on your spending habits! Lift pass is 1000 usd, rent anywhere from 500 to 2000 a month depending on how many ppl you share with and how nice of a place it is. Chamonix is a real little city with all kinds of accom.
No Slovenian one liners???? 🤔😁
Why do you text Sofia and not call her? Is there a reason or just simpler?
Good question, in this particular zone the cell phone service can be a bit dodgy and since its right on the swiss border it tends to want to switch over to swiss network, meaning expensive phone bill. Limiting it to the french network means really patchy service so texts are best to avoid misunderstandings. Radios would be optimal but some days you just want to save weight...
where are you guys from?
In this video, Sweden (me and Sofia), and Slovenia (Bine)
