    When putting tyres on you can just use washing up liquid which will dry out, that's a common substance for putting tyres on, it allows for a slippery surface but dries out over time.

  • @flitsies
    @flitsies Před rokem +2

    When using the torque wrench on that wheel, usually you would use it diagonally so if you have 4 bolts you would go 1 to 3 2 to 4. or if 6 bolts the sequence would be 1 to 4 2 to 5 3 to 6 this would give a more even pressure on the wheel.
    Anything that uses wheels or large flat surfaces you would usually use this method to get as even pressure as possible also you would butt the bolts up to the surface before torquing them down so as not to put any twisting on the mating surfaces.
    On the Honda 600 super sport some people destroyed their cylinder heads simply because they didn't torque their cylinder head down in the correct sequence.
    It's not just a case of missing out one bolt, you must tighten the bolts down diagonally or you could end up with a wheel problem.

    Well explained process and reason behind it. Like motorcycles, you've got one shot on a bike (with this much power) - you covered all the bases. Great production! @simonlock5595 Před 2 lety +1

      They can use different designs to measure the torque , but end up doing the same thing. The main thing is to get one that suits your purpose . Eg 1/4 inch torque wrenches will only measure small torque applications eg. 1 - 20nm / ft/lbs , 3/8 drive will do bigger needs eg 10 - 100 and 1/2 drive will do even bigger . But scooters are small bolts , so only a small torque wrenches are needed .

      @@simonlock5595 TY Simon, that fractional sequence is what I have read too. I asked the mfg. of my scoot to send me the nm ratings for each bolt size. Even experienced mechs seem to go by feel - 'hand tighten' (which can be subjective!). I hand tightened my oil plug on my cycle 10 years back and it needed to be drilled out due to my error.

    • @simonlock5595
      @simonlock5595 Před 2 lety +1

      @@theociba3762 it depends on the size of the bolt and the quality of it . I should clarify , it depends on the rating of the bolt. Some are high tensile and have markings on them . Eg grade 8 . These have a bit of forgiveness in them to over tightening , but small cheap bolts often snap very easily. Going by feel is ok if you can read their designated strength or know by using them before just how strong they are , otherwise a torque wrench is a great idea . 👍👍👍

Use a drill and some sort of kit I am not sure of the name to cut another hole into the bolt to remove. Other option you have to drill the screw out which is a terrible job. I've used dish soap (green Palmolive) with a bit of water for many years on bicycles. It's useful for seating tires as you inflate them, just add a thin layer with a paint brush to the beads (don't slather it on). You don't want to use petroleum based lubes like Vaseline on rubber. Even a light dusting of talc on the tube can also work. That's why many tubes still come from the factory covered with a bit of talc. Again, a LIGHT dusting.

      I hear you it scared me the first time I saw it too. I guess it’s called a dead blow hammer which means that somehow it does not damage the scooter.

    I don't know if I believe this video or not. No one changes a scooter tire like this without dropping the f bomb minimum of 3 times....

      you're totally wrong when you work on somebody else's vehicle. you need to clean it and put on new Loctite 100% of the time - it is something I'm willing to discuss if you want to talk about it but if you use the word stupid or anything derogatory again you'll be blocked
