A tough chin IS referring to the ability of not getting KO. We know it's not something you can train which it's why we talk about it so much. Chuck Lidell started his career with the strongest chin we've ever seen and ended it with the weakest, he's ability to take pain didn't decrease, but his brains ability to take shots and not go unconscious decreased dramatically.
Nail hit squarely on head.
Not sure if it's age related or just cumulative. Maybe it's both.
@@lowerclassbrats77it’s probably both but I think it’s related closer to one “big” knockout and the brains reaction to that as opposed to accumulation.
That just hints that Chito taking all this damage is terrible long term. Would be better for him to get KOd in the first round
@@user-zp4xp3hq8iNa its accumulation and age. With age the damage from all the years of taking punches shows up. A big KO shot only adds to the cumulative effect, the same as taking 100+ punches to the head like Chito Vera here. But also genetics and ability to brace for it. Sometimes fighters get knocked out cold by a punch, and then they come back with a granite chin (Glover got brutally knocked out twice within 12 months, and ended his career with taking multiple potential KO shots to the head by Jiri and Jamahal Hill. Hill even kicked him in the head a few times, and Glover only stumbled)
But it can be unpredictable too. Most people who lose their chin after one KO shot though, its more mental with them, because they fight scared and basically "run" into shots on accident, due to the fear of getting caught, like Volk fought scared against Ilia, after Islam KOd him for example.
The speed with these uploads are insane, the fight just ended lol. good stuff man
Fr i love his commitment
Brian will upload the punch Mike Tyson landed on Jake Paul before the fight even takes place.
it literally takes him 30 mins at the most to make these videos and upload them 😂
Do you think he keeps his shirt and tie on 24/7 just in case something happens in the sport world and he needs to make a video
🙂 Yes he did it again. So if nobody gets a brutal injury or get knocked out we won't see him. 😂
Vera has never been knocked out or submitted. He's only lost by decisions
I think after this fight that's going to change
Nor cut or bled really.
He fights at 135. They punch light. Way to go. His face displayed GREAT defense tonight.
@@EndingVisionsThat knocks out horses, I couldn’t believe he was standing
He would have been far better off going to sleep
How you’re able to upload this fast after these fights is beyond anything I can comprehend
He makes the video then events occur based on the videos he made
Bro could be making up words and I’d have no idea 💀
….
@@BrianSuttererMDI think he was complimenting your knowledge. Implying that these words are so long and complicated, that if you were making up a bunch of words, he'd still believe you. Don't think it was a shot at you
'The tension comes from the apparatus femoris'. Meanwhile I'm sitting here nodding in agreement when I never heard of these words before in my life.

Please tell me you don’t vote
Your videos are so quick its actually insane
He's not actually explaining much tho lol. He's just repeating the same thing from each video that's about a head hit head trauma
he has a portal to the future, this was actually the doctors 4th video upload (he deleted the first 3)
O’Malley did say in the interview that he thought he felt something crack in chitos face when that knee landed
What a brilliant fight anatomy breakdown, as per usual. This reaffirms just how brutal the human body is when trained properly
Vera has yet to be knocked down or be knocked unconscious. Unbelievable heart and spirit.
its called , being stupid
thanks, as always. so insightful, and consistently informative.
Edging that knee contact for so long geez
Bro you been on fire lately
YES! I was hoping for this video!
I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much. I'm glad I found your page!
Excellent breakdown and as a fellow creator, the speed at which you upload these videos at this quality is remarkable!
vera is pretty good defensively. he rarely gets hit on the chin clean. his offense is very rudimentary though.
Maybe the fact that he suffered a (probable) fracture is what "saved" him from getting ko.
The facial bones are constructed in a way in which they can sustain fractures in order to save the brain from trauma. So in this case the (supposed) broken bone might have worked as a cushion for the brain.
Your analysis right after a sporting event is incredible! I was always curious what is actually happening to the body during sports now there is a place to come to for great insight with an analysis explained in a way even a dummy like me can understand. Great Job Doc!
Education like this that’s applied to real world scenarios could really help the increasing amount of boys in school that are struggling and falling behind. I know I would’ve been way more focused if they showed stuff like this back in the day
Amazing explanation of the anatomy and physiology of this sequence! Just subscribed to your channel and looking forward to more videos!
Love the breakdown! Thanks for your content I'm subscribed now!
Not only did he not get ko’ed. he wasn’t even hurt at all. No stumble nothing. Chito may be the toughest human I’ve ever seen
It definitely rocked him lol are you blind
Ah yes, I can finally tell a doctor that he is wrong.
Having a great chin: ability to not get knocked out or stunned.
Having heart: ability to take pain and keep moving forward.
subbed great video Ive always wanted to find a channel like this!
If you think that knee would knock him out on any other occasion then you are not familiar with Chito Vera. He indeed has a chin that is uncommonly sturdy. In EVERY SINGLE MMA fight he’s been in he hasn’t even been put on shaky legs, let alone KO’ed or knocked down. No, you can’t train to achieve a better chin but you are clearly unfamiliar with just how “un-knockoutable” Chito Vera is.
i live for these breakdowns
Thanks !!
Can you do a video analysis on Jailton Almeida getting KO'd?
He didn’t get ko’d he just quit like a chicken
He wasn’t KOd he just kinda gave up from the ground and pound
@@sixersfan602 he definitely got koed even tho blades said he didn’t hit him with that uppercut rewatch it you watch him go limp right when he shoots. Purely trying to survive while eating hammer fists from a 257 pounder who is good enough to be champ. But sure he quit
This was a fantastic video, and could easily be part of at least a couple different college courses. Absolutely excellent!
Vera continues to show he has one of the best chins in the ufc, i don’t see many bantamweights if any fighting through a knee that nasty. The sound it made when it impacted was kind off scary 😳
The sound the knee made is exactly what a home run hit sounds like in Baseball. It’s insane that Vera was able to stay up & finish the fight
Thank you for explaining and breaking down to anatomy and physiology stand point. My boyfriend been trying explain UFC to me. This explains more I'm a massage therapist. Great video ❤
You’ve got like the quickest upload speed of all time, it’s amazing. This fight literally ended 2 hours ago
1.5 hr ago 😉
Bro this guy is super quick with these videos lol
As someone who shattered both calcaneals, I’d be fascinated to learn what muscles I need work on my road for recovery. Fascinating break down thank you!
Vera is a tough dude. Hats off to him
Love the videos and impressed by upload speed, but maybe release a few hours later as these videos have spoilt a lot of sporting events I've had to record (based in UK, can't stay up that late) 🙏
Well said. That sound was nuts though. It was like COVID times in MMA but the crowd was screaming and you could still hear it
My friend at a DO school is considering PMNR, do you have any suggestions for him?
Wow, i am so glad i found this account. Insanely cool take on this!
awesome topic
I was literally about to fall asleep and then out of nowhere the GOAT 🐐 uploads a video. I like sleep 🛌 it’s important for sure in this case sleep takes a back seat to Dr Brian
dang that was quick
If I'm not mistaking there is actually evidence in peer reviewed studies that discusses types of chin and facial structures being able to withstand more force before going unconscious. I believe the study touched on how people who have a facial structure closer to Neanderthals are able to withstand much more than the average facial structure. Just wanted to point that out because I definitely think Vera's facial skeletal structure might have had something to do with him being able to withstand some shots that would usually knock someone else out.
lol that knee was insane i almost went night night watching it
Great win for O'MALLEY
Double comment! This is one of my favorite CZcams videos ever.
He was able to eat it because the contact came at the end of the motion when there isn’t much momentum left in the knee. He had to extend it really high to make contact, and that point is well after the knee has slowed down dramatically.
Maybe he did eat it but you can see it an entire change in his game after that he was much more it doesn't seem as sharp up until when he did that rush in that one around later in the 4th I think it was but you could tell that knee really put a wall up on him
I feel like he’s trying to explain to my wife how to ride a bull.
hi dr, ive had 8 orbital fractures from one punch. is there a significant difference between that and a break of the orbital ?
He for sure got a concussion
i wouldnt be surprised if brian actually does a little mma
He cocked back, and fired. Chito was coming down as O'Malley's knee was coming up. Increasing the force of the impact. It hurt..... bad.
The end.
Send me money.
Well, he was mauled for 5 rounds so his durability is something nobody can discuss.
The amount of hard shots Vera took in the fight...😬
This videos are gold, bro is doing something nobody else is doing .
That's some serious damage Doc. It reminds me of the Tony vs Justin fight... he was never the same after receiving some much damage.
The sound when he landed it sounded like a baseball bat hitting a homerun. Absolutely crazy.
I don't comprehend how knees and elbows are allowed in MMA but I'm not complaining. The extreme violence due to the hardness that knees and elbows are cause mind-blowing strikes.
Very informational
An underappreciated part of getting hit is your brain knowing that you are going to be hit. If you can prepare or see it coming its much easier than when you aren't prepared. That's why Benoit folded from a seemingly medium punch from Porier and Chito didn't from Sean's knee. Granted that only works until you get hit so much your brain turns off when you're hit, but seeing the punch come is so much better for not getting KOd
Do you have an episode about their first fight? Was it a foot drop?
Wild performance on both ends, thanks for the quick videos. I think it's a combo of both, Vera is likely on the extreme end of the distribution in terms of being able to withstand TBIs without going unconscious relative to the average person (look at his career), but I do agree that similar shots given x different times, a decent proportion of them would KO him.
Being a kines major and listening to this and actually understanding everything he’s saying is pretty cool lol
Me yelling at the TV in every suga fight "He's open for the knee! Throw the damn knee!" Finally he throws the knee
Are you freaking kidding me, he got kick in the face as Yoel Romero, many head striking, 1 knee to the head and 1 knee to the face, and his head going all the way back with that G-force. Chris has the best chin and durability in the entire UFC. And with that fight now is a proven fact. He only loose by decision and never submitted or knocked down.
O’Malley got a lot of shit for not accepting his first loss to Chito, but I always respected that. He was being honest instead of reading from the typical UFC fighter script. “The better man won tonight/ no excuses”- dude, screw all that if you genuinely believe that the other fighter got lucky- I’d rather hear your authentic reaction instead of trying to keep appearances by lying to all of our faces.
I do agree with you assessment it does seem like it hits him in the cheek then the jaw. That loud sound is the area being hit. A chin shot doesn’t do that
U should challenge another local doctor to a bare knuckle cage match and then do review on damage u both inflicted on each other
I tried to stay up to watch this video bc i knew it was coming. But im an old fuck lol. Your the 🐐 doc.
Chito got that metal chin 😅
It’s crazy that you can take a shot like this and NOT get knocked out but then we see other guys get clipped on the side of the guy and go out immediately. It’s so weird how that works.
It's official. Chito has the only adamantium chin on the planet. Pretty sure that knee would have splintered the jaw and/or orbital of almost every < 140lb man on the planet (and honestly, it sounded like it did), yet this maniac just shrugged it off and kept coming forward. Although, as Brian alluded, I wouldn't be surprised to find out there's a fracture or two. Either way, Chito's toughness has been confirmed to be on a whole different level. What a savage. Also, congrats to Sugar Sean for that incredible performance. His precision striking is absolutely bonkers.
Look up Max Holloway my guy.
It sounded like a wooden bat hitting a baseball lol
Can you do a video on Rockets player Alperen Sengun injury that just happened? What might be wrong? His knee or ankle? Maybe both?
Another video right on time. Can we please have also Benoit Saint Dennis KO covered?
Greatest edge ive ever had in my life imo
Incredibly well put together and informative video. The speed of upload is insane too 👌🏻
It’s really impressive how fast you put out these videos
Hey I’ve been a fan of your channel well over a year now. I want to suggest maybe adding Motorsport injuries every now and then ? Specifically like NASCAR ? When you get a chance look up Ryan Preece’s Violent Wreck at Daytona 500 this past February. I would love to hear the explanation as to why his eyes looked the way did did after the crash. Interesting stuff ! So much G-forces involved in these accidents. Just a suggestion that crash was insane everyone in the nascar world knows what I’m talking about 😌
So medically Vera got that dawg in him
I love the Speed!!!!
Suga leveling every fight
OMalley is damn lucky this fight didnt have another 30 seconds left in it 🤣🤣
You can hear when Sean cracks the orbital wall, tha was brutal
Hell of a fight chito and O’Malley are fuckin warriors can’t wait for chito O’Malley 3
Wont happen
If O'Malley can beat Topuria, maybe we can start to consider him being one of the top 5 fighters in UFC history. And as generous as top 3.
Watch his earlier fight with Gasolina Bispo he eats multiple knees in that fight as well some people do actually have better ability to not get knocked out chito always eats that knee, Yes it's not like they are consciously deciding to not get ko'd but their genetic build inside their skull is different than others.
It literally sounded like Chitos head exploded when that Knee landed.. I've never seen Chito THAT hurt before. I hope chito is okay. I'm curious if they are going to release what damage occurred because he looked like a different person & before this he's never been cut, bleed, bruised. This was insane
looks like two paintings fighting each other
Chito didnt know what round it was. It wouldve been to his advantage to fight backstage for 3 rounds then enter the octagon
I’d be thoroughly amazed if he didn’t get concussed on that knee. Just because he didn’t go unconscious doesn’t mean he didn’t get concussed
He definitely got a concussion and a couple years off his life from that knee alone
Do chins ever recover fully? Or do big hits like this cause permanent damage to the chins durability?
That knee surely broke something in Chitos face. Wow
MAN! How are you as big as Sugar Sean on CZcams?!
If you trained fighting you would know that the muscles that drives this knee are more the Glutes, hamstrings and quads as they bring the force from the ground up towards chitos face.. In synchrony with the muscles you mentioned😉
Plz Explain the Diaz brothers stubbornness and its correlation to never getting put unconscious
What took ya so long, Doc?!? 😅🔥
Is bro teaching us how to throw a perfect knee 🤣
Bro took as from fighting to biology/anatomy class
