  • THIS is the AMG Beast of the Green Hell in action, in our new short review series! Quick BUT action packed, hosted by @rokenr of Instagram, this Review features:
    - AMG GT R origins
    - Design
    - Power & Performance
    The flagship of the AMG GT Family, the GT R is a rabid track beast, but one that is equally at home as a daily driver. My car is fitted with the AMG Track Package, giving added roll cage and four point harness, just like in the new F1 Safety car version; yet the car loses no practicality with this.
    I discuss what makes this one of the best supercars in the world, as well as news about the new rumoured AMG GT R Clubsport, and the eventual return of Black Series in the AMG GT Black!
    Up next on on RBR is the Full Review of the M4 CS!! Subscribe to see it first! Also follow us on Instagram below for daily content!

    "With the new AMG GT R, we have reached the next level of driving performance. It combines the driving dynamics of our AMG GT3 racing car with the everyday practicality of the AMG GT" - Tobias Moers, AMG CEO
    We hope you guys enjoyed that speed review of the Beast of the Green Hell! :)

    2:14 "It is a better engine in every conceivable way than from the previous naturally aspirated engine" - That's absolutely correct, people criticise the new 4.0L engine a lot, but when you get behind the wheel of one, you start to appreciate just how damn good it is. Instant torque (literally feels like a supercharged engine), incredibly efficient for a V8, loud muscular sound with pops/bangs and when you put your foot down, it just keeps going. It's a very capable engine!

    • @DanielSadjadian
      @DanielSadjadian Před 6 lety +1

      Fluterra you have to drive an AMG with the new engine to truly understand. Also I spoke to an AMG representative about the GT3 model, he stated that the 4.0l engine needs to be approved before Mercedes can use it in the GT3 car - it has nothing to do with reliability or power. The new 4.0l is more than capable enough.

    • @gianhet
      @gianhet Před 6 lety +1

      Most people actually dont criticize the new engine and actually say it's very impressive for a turbocharged engine

    • @SLO722
      @SLO722 Před 6 lety

      Fluterra the old N/A engine was already homologated for racing in the GT3 series from many seasons ago, while the current twin turbo V8 had not been developed for racing.

    • @gianhet
      @gianhet Před 6 lety

      Fluterra no everyone says it doesn't feel like a turbocharged engine

    • @caxsfSpeedster
      @caxsfSpeedster Před 6 lety +2

      I drive both engines frequently, both the AMG GTR and the SLS and the SLS engine is more reactive and lively. It is there right under your foot immediately. The GTR has some good feel within the possibilities for a turbo car, but only 20 % of torque is under your foot immediately..if you need more you will have lag..and I mean at least 0.5 seconds of lag..I have to say however that the work done to make the 4.0 liter engine have a good pedal feel and linear depth was very good. You can explore every cm of the pedal depth until the end..while in the SLS it is more immediate and less deep. Both engines are amazing, the SLS is clearly more crisp. Also, relatively annoying in the new 4.0 is the torque decrease after 5.000 rpms..you do not feel it at 2nd and 3rd gear, but you do feel it in 4th and 5th and 6th and 7th..The SLS engine is an absolute monster and with a ECU only tune it will keep up with AMG GTR side by side all the way accelerating

    I agree, the engine is incredible, but having recently driven a sl 63 with the 6.3(6.2) n/a there is just something about the high pitched whine and the low grumbling exhaust that is truly awesome

    Great review. I've driven one of these only very briefly, at Millbrook. I'm curious to see how they drive on the roads, because it felt VERY stiff to me. Possibly too much for bumpy B-Roads?

    Love the AMG GTR, it's a stunning car! Got the chance the drive one recently at Mercedes-Benz World (when you were out in Dubai), absolutely loved it!! The V8 engine is thunderous, it sounds so damn good and the turbo is literally non exinsistant - I'm truly amazed by this, as I've driven the CLS63 AMG with the 5.5 engine which had a fair of turbo lag.

      I upgraded from the old c63 to the new c63s, the only thing the old one has over it is the fact you could rev much louder at a standstill. But anyway no need for you guys to listen to actual owners.

    great great video. gotta ask as i am considering this vehicle, preowned- did this car turn into a reliability nightmare?? assuming u kept it long enough. i have examined a lot of the service records on these 2018 gtrs and they seem to live in the shop, with all sorts of problems, some having had even transmissions that needed replacement.

    They needa make the black series AWD with drift mood like they r doing for some of the new amgs an they needa make it lighter way lighter an with a hole lot more hp cuz we all know the potential that 4.0 liter v8 has. But other then that i loved the vid keep them coming 👌🏽👍🏽

    Mercedes copied the rear end from 1980s or 1990 Porsche 928s. What do you think? It's not a bad thing as that was a great looking car! Don't get me wrong l love Mercedes and have 2. It's the finest vehicle can get!

    In conclusion it’s a 120k dollar garage Queen.
