  • During the Manhattan Project, a completely new type of switch was invented to accommodate the extreme requirements of nuclear weaponry. Using the original patent by Donald F. Hornig, we are going to build the detonator switch used in Fat Man; the most powerful bomb ever detonated in warfare.

Very interesting! An actual glass switch and a real Fat Man detonator assembly (made by Raytheon) can be seen at the Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The switch was pre-existing and was initially invented for flash photography in night time aerial reconnaissance. The museum shows the beaches of D-Day being photographed at night in this way. Seeing the complex detonator assembly alone is worth a trip to Los Alamos. Its an incredible device!! I was just there 2 weeks ago.

You could've used just actual flash tube as a trigger tube.

Next build a EBW “Explosive Bridge wier” also use in the atomic detonation! Use whit som capacitor and high voltage! 🙌🏻🫶🏻👍🏻
