Not a word about starter relocation.

You just bolt stock rwd starter like normal

Did you finish this swap? I'm installing a series 3 from a 2009 buick in place of a bad series 2 in a 98 camaro. At this point I should have just LS swapped the pos. Some sites have said its a direct swap, same longblock. Not true, the pistons and rods are different weight - heavier. I went to use the 98 flex plate and the holes were barely off. I went back to the pickapart and grabbed the flex plate off the 2009. Difrerent weight for sure, so I bolted it on. That would have been a rough running turd.
After aligning the trans I bolted it up then went to bolt the converter to the flexplate - about a half inch gap. Wonderful. I pulled it apart and compared flexplates - sure enough, the series 2 plate is about flush with the ring gear, the series 3 - sunken in 1/2". Now I need to decide if I weld spacers to the converter and buy longer grade 8 bolts...or see what other options there are.
There were several other issues I ran into...but they were fixable. Those bolts holding the flexplate are either stretch to yield or just shitty metal. I torqued the old ones and 3 of the 8 snapped the heads off.

Yes I did, mine went into a manual car, I used the old flywheel, I would use the camaro flex plate and be done. Make sure you are aligning the flex plate to the crank correctly, it only goes on one way! The pistons and rods is different in the series 3, they are better, and stronger! And I feel you on the LS swap, I've been playing with this v6 crap so long I'm so tired of all the issues I keep having, only way I see for it to be any good is to be 100% stock and drive it like a granny which is not what the car is made for! Any other questions feel free to ask I'll help as much as I can!

@@DYLANTRIES can't use the camaro flexplate, the series 2 and 3 engines have different crank balances due to heavier pistons and rods in the series 3.

@@HeathKopp the 3800 is internally balanced, the flexplates are just balanced on there own

@@DYLANTRIES noooo...the l26 and l36 (as well as the sc versions) are all externally balanced, and different weights. The difference between the l26 and l36 isn't much, some don't fret about it...but it will shorten the life of your main bearings. The difference between the l26 and l67 is A LOT.. 40 grams or so...something you'll definitely feel.
I've dealt with a lot of v8s, custom strokers and having assemblies rebalanced. A quick glance at the flexplate you'll see the counterweight spot welded to the inside...its matched to the rods, pistons, and harmonic balancer.

@@HeathKopp I swapped a series 2 L26 bottom end into my 02 Firebird. Using the original harmonic balancer and flywheel. I also have a T5 that I've rebuilt, but I've been pushing 7psi of boost through it for almost 2 years now. Zero issues. Whatever harmonic balancer is used, the flex plate that went with it has to be used, because they are balanced to each other. Internal balancing is irrelevant if the external balances aren't. I could use the harmonic balancer from the series 3, but I would have to get the flywheel balanced to match whatever the flex plate was. I know several guys that have done it that way, but the FWD cars had garage harmonic balancers that fall apart. 3800 f-body harmonic balancers were much better designed. Unfortunately your can't buy the f-body versions new anymore. Discontinued several years ago. Thankfully they hold up better.

Here soon I'm going to start swapping a series 3 and 4l80 in a 96 V6 Camaro 💀 I think it should go smooth though. I'll be using a PATC transmission adapter so I shouldn't have any issues as far as mounting

How you planning to manage the transmission?
