Yes you can work along but it’s hard to get such jobs . As a student you are allowed to work 20 hrs per week normally but right now till June 2023 Australian government has no restrictions on working hrs. It will be very costly if you didn’t get any good job.

Australia is not issusing visa to Most Indian and Chinese PhD candidates currently. But they are not refusing either. They keep the application without an outcome until the candiate withdraws. However a small % of applications are issued a visa after several months.

The consultancy says that I cannot bring my wife with me as our marriage is not one year old. I need to come here alone first, then apply for a spouse visa after a few months. Hi Nitish, Congratulations for getting a PhD offer from Australia. No, that's not true / there is no such rule. You can apply for yourself and for your spouse in a same application. I have seen many peoples who bring their partner with them (recently married (1-3 months ) included).
