This comes from someone who's never played DnD, but from what I've heard I'd say Minecraft just became _"new"_ DnD.
I mean, You have an open world that You can tune to Your liking.
You can have a server to play together, even have someone act as a dungeon master in DnD.

Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas, not only allow everything to be morally grey in a way where players are very comfortable with making their own choices in the game, but it also allows the player to build any kind of character they want. They can even cause drastically different results every single time, like the trait, "Jinxed," which allows the increase amounts of critical failures that everyone in the game including yourself could get! New Vegas takes it a step further by allowing every single skill to be influenced through dialogue, even going as far as attributes too! It makes the game way more tangible, feeling that the points actually matter! :D
