lived here all my life - It's getting TOO crowded and it's loosing its small town feel. Too many people moving here from other areas changing it to - "the way we did it back where we came from" so it no longer looks like the town they moved to. Sub divisions going up EVERYWHERE loosing the woods, fields and pastures that make this place nice to live. I foresee in the next 10 or so years this place will be a shadow of what it use to be :(
I agree 100% the bigger it gets , the more crime comes in, it is so sad that Pickens is growing and we are losing our small town to the elite hungry for money. and the police dept can be a bit corrupt, the sheriff's dept not so bad. I hope the growth will stop before our home is completely ruined.. cant even go to the lakes anymore because of the million dollar homes all around the landings. I hate that , they were never supposed to allow homes to be built on the lakes. I hope that will stop also. Pickens use to be so much better, but, they do not care about the poorer people . but, what can we do ?
The concern is: How many higher density cookie- cutter subdivisions and ever-expanding commercial development can upstate communities sustain in absence of real, and meaningful zoning policies. Developers get their way here with projects almost rubber stamped for approval. To make matter worse, there doesn't even seem to be a discernable pattern to the development. I'd have to describe it ever expanding, random and haphazard.
Sorry, but the music is distracting and not needed.
I appreciate the feedback. This was one of the first videos my editor did for me almost a year ago. Since then the music has went down in volume.
I know a lady that retired to the town of Pickens. She was calling me to collect payment from my company. I can see why she did. The area looks stunning.
There are definitely options to find homes that are surrounded by scenic views! Even if it's a day trip you want to take, there are tons of options to find gorgeous views!
I know you said you aren't talking about crime but how can I find out if Pickens the town is truly a safe place to live? It sounds great but if I Google it sounds so high in crime.
Other than government and state sites, you can always join Facebook groups local to the area to gather info that way!
I would love this so much more without the music! It’s way too distracting!

Why can't you talk about crime or schools?
the crime is mostly drug related. and the city cops are sometimes the crime . the real crime is allowing new growth. that we want to stop !!
