I want to say she was almost like Whoopi Goldberg in this movie, but, she was pretty close. The music teacher that took over for her, was okay, she was good, but not as good as the original music teacher.

Most of the time music teachers I met were really good in terms of professionalism but their personality sometimes would become too demanding. In any case I am glad your teacher was like this one. On the other hand it was a high school lesson and not a 100 percent music lesson (I mean in order to get a diploma in music) so I see why she was more relaxed with her students.

Can I get an "Amen" for Mary Lazarus? Sure, she's pissed at first that she'll be replaced, but she quickly adepts to it and even likes what Deloris is doing with the choir.
And Lazarus in the movie is probably even older than the Reverend Mother, but is still (more) open to new things.
    Great character.
