It is important to do your research on your target schools, in order to get a sense if you are a fit for each school's culture. Talk to current students, read student blogs; even visit if possible. This will give you a chance to get to know the school on a personal level, and if you can incorporate your research into your application, that will demonstrate to the school that you have taken the time to do your homework and you know that the school is right for you. Top programs like Wharton and Columbia certainly want to see this!
