- This is my Skateology video for dolphin flips AKA forward flips. These clips were filmed at 1,000 frames per second with a Redlake N3 high speed camera at 1280x720 resolution. The skaters are Mike Culver and Martin Fobes.

Every time I see this I get upset I used to be able to do this trick then I stopped skating and got fat lol
Yeah I didn't get fat but I took a break from skating because everyone I knew kind of stopped skateboarding and bmxing which really sucks. Then when I got antsy and started to skateboard for fun I sucked horrible I couldn't do any of the flip tricks I used to be able to do

I landed a double dolphin flip on accident when I was trying to learn the regular dolphin flip. I cant do it anymore but it happened.
Matthew Morgan if u managed to do a triple dolphin flip u got yourself a dragon flip something not too many people can do
SH!DHEAD PRODUCTIONS a double dolphin is a dragon. It’s a 360 degree longitudinal board rotation, whereas a dolphin flip is 180.
So you just did yourself a dragon flip man shoulda got it on film not a lot of people have.
I guess he's refering to a dolphin flip where the board does an extra kickflip rotation

the fear is real! Front foot impossibles are my bollock-smashing trick. Sometimes the board is out to make you infertile.

@chinanigans Yes, in order to film at fast frame rates the lighting has to be very bright. Basically I need broad daylight to film at 1,000 fps.

Thanks for the reply! I figured they had a similar movement with the front foot, so I thought learning one might help with the other. After watching a few videos I see that the dolphin flip is more of a push/flick, while the FFI is a weird push/wrap-around/scoop thing, haha. They're probably equally difficult.

For some reason I find this trick really easy to do. Just have your stance like a kickflip and instead of flicking out just flick down when you level out your ollie. I love doing this trick in games of skate.
Damn right, I can do them on hips and bank to bank. They look so nice when you tweak them forward. Cody Mcentire does a great forward flip in his new part for Think.

Amyone know if this trick has a name. It's half of a kick flip, then you use your back flip to kick the board up and it flips forward and you land on the board.

Aaron Brock No it's like that, but instead of kicking it back the other way you kick the front of the board and the board goes down the long way.

I mean you can kinda do it with a much angled flip instead of a full on vertical flip. Like a late nollie shuv if you will.

Lol it's like a nollie front side kick flip without the nollie. Amazing this trick down a hand rail into a tail slide or a nose grind would be sick.
@1994AlmostSkater the front foot flicks it so it couldnt be a nollie inward heel in mid air... and he flicks it with the toe... its like the hardflip version of a varial flip

Cool trick! It looks like a hardflip but toppling over forward instead of backward.... (I used to skate a lot, 10 years ago, so maybe a hardflip is something different these days, who knows...)

I suggest turning your board backwards and having your foot halfway in between where you'd kickflip and ollie. As soon as you pop, lift your back foot off and get it out of the way, and flick straight off of the nose. Your front foot being slightly kickflip stance will cause it to flip as it rotates. Pretty easy trick, honestly.
It was known in Australia as the Jenko flip named after its inventor Aaron Jenkins
Never really been that interested in these sort of moves, as you can't really see what's going on in 'normal' time.
But these show just how 'stunning' they really are!

dolphin flip: you kick it all the way straight on the nose, you push the board away from you.
pressure flip: you don't kick the board, it flips by itself when you take out your front foot while you ollie, the board comes toward you

I cant tre flip,,,, I land 2/5 kick flips. But foward flips are hella easy to me. Its been 1 week since I tried learning them and can land them 3/5 now :) :) its koo when ur the only guy at the park that can do this trick :)
I could only Pressure Tre, I can Triple Kickflip and I struggle on Forward Flips because I've only just learnt them
I still don't get it. Is it more like a kickflip impossible North or like a bs shuv kickflip north ? How does the board do the 180 motion? Is it all on the front foot, or does it have a scoop too?

The secret to this trick is jumping *before* flicking your foot. Once you get the flick down the board basically lands by itself

they are completely different an inward heelflip is a backside shuv it and a heelflip a dolphin flip is flicked like a kick flip but i dives forward and then you land on it
If you got some pop and variable flips down you got it. Just do a variable flip but flick your foot down, straight off the nose. Just keep practicing till you got that shit as inverted as possible.
So it's essentially a hard flip, but the board is flipping forward instead of backward, right?
It's more like a reversed hard flip. It can look good, if you pull it off cleanly (just like with any trick).
i would call that an outward kickflip 'cause it's goin' in the outward direction
(outward the tail passes underneath the legs, inward the nose passes underneath the legs)
im a fan of skateboarding though im bad at it and sometimes the tricks can be a little confusing but isnt this basically a kickflip impossible? what it kinda looks like to me

It’s essentially a varial flip with your front foot only
this trick has 3 basic variants. the forward flip the dolphin flip and the dolphin heelflip. these are just forward flips. dolphin flips flip toward the other side.
dark_knight097 the dolphin flip is the same as a forward flip you can do research and see that I’m right.
And what do you mean flip toward the other side there’s only one way, forward hence forward flip. Dolphin flips by nature flip the short dimension of the board in a kickflip, the other way is the dolphin heel where it almost doesn’t seem to flip at all.

When I was skating I could do dolphin flip and nollie dolphin flip, it's not so dificult, You must make vertical ollie and kick it hard :)
