Note 9 has a very very slight edge bc of better camera software, not because of a better camera hardware. V40 has wide angle and telephoto, which means the V40 wins overall.

i`d say it was back and forth between the two mate , but clearly as Danny pointed out quite a few of the photo`s from the v40 looked quite good , at the same time the colors in quite a few also did not look real , they looked seriously out of kilter .
the sharpening thing also seems to be an lg trait , My lg G5 noticeably over sharpens at times despite taking pretty decent happy snaps usually , for me though i prefered the selfie stills on the lg v40 a tad more than the note , having said that i nearly never use the selfie cam .... so meh ..

Now with 12 mp f1.5 1.4 micron pixels with both OIS and EIS . finally lg is back on auto mode along with better low light. along with EIS on rest of the 4 lenses . EIS on all lenses is a first on a smartphone. Along with video capabilities which none can beat like 4k 60fps recording, 4k hdr video recording, lof recording with better stabilisation. Along with the best audio recording on a smartphone. And how can we forget about wide angle lens which is their signature and is far better than depth, monochrome lenses out there

I actually have both phones and they are beasts. Software and Pie updates have made the V40 cameras top of their game and the 5 cameras, video and audio capabilities are second to none. My T-mobile Note 9 finally made the transition to Pie with the addition of a night mode that really improves those low light and night shots. These are the best phones I've had the pleasure to own since the launch of the LG V20 which still performs well. I love trading between the Note and V40 for daily driver duties, As I do a lot of mobile photography, I enjoy the many options these devices offer when snapping pics or taking video. To even boost the photography game higher, both phones have the latest version of the Google Pixal 3 camera ported to them. Great phones, all.

The v40 is better overall since it has the wide angle lens on both front and back. the main camera isn't as good as the note 9 but it's so close like you won't probably notice the difference. In the video department the lg v40 is the clear winner with it's tricks and futures. Just wait a month or 2 and the price of the lg v40 will drop and it will be the best phone in it's price

I prefer each camera about half of the time in this test. I used to be a foe of the high sharpened/saturated look, but gave in after realizing that pretty much all my photos are only going to be seen on my phone screen, my 1080p TV, or shared on social media. The sharpening and saturation makes a better shot usually, for the same reason that people seem to prefer over-compressed audio and extremely salty or sugary snacks: more is better! I have a V40 and there is tons of potential in this camera, but also a few annoying flaws. Overall pretty satisfied, especially when so many other aspects of the phone are just great: audio recording, audio playback through headphone jack with amazing DAC, battery life (for a 3300mA cell), OLED screen, etc. Waiting for the camera updates to be released, and also for the Google Camera to be fully ported, maybe this will become the most capable phone camera yet.

Its so clear that LG V40 is better in many conditions :
    1- Far better Sound quality
    2- videos with HDR mode
    3- Manual Mode
4- Wide lens in rear and front facing camera
    5- better Stabilisation
    6- shots are more vivid
    .
I think honestly Lg beat Sumsung in this section in 2018 .

Both cameras are great.... The v40 white balance on the v40 at low light really take away the natural color... It woukd have been great if LG had use 16mp cameras all around on the back cameras and 12mp on the front.... It seems when smartphone companies increase the in the mega pixels of their cameras they decrease the tone... LG need to work on the background sharpness... The audio on the note9 front camera is clear and gives more clarity to the direct audio from the person infront of it whereas the V40 captures the noise around as well and have some bass to it even though the clarity is good.... I have a V20 and I was waiting for the V40 to release to upgrade.... But it still between the note or tge V40.... I hope LG work on improving their cameras and battery life...
