I upgraded to the v40 from the v20 only because it had so many cracks on the screen that it stopped working properly otherwise both great phones. You can find some on eBay in mint condition for like 200- 250$

I think the audio playback and recording on the LG were multiple times better than the iPhone. The OLED screen looked surprisingly better on the LG as well, the iPhone's looked washed out compared to the LG.
you left out the #1 reason i bought the V40 (and the V20 b4 it)... sound quality for audio is a *quantum level* better with zero hyperbole. plus you can play any audio file *at any resolution* unlike the iPhone (which is why i never bought 1 in the first place). the iPhones have no expandable memory and if you use the cloud for lossless files you have to *buy* expensive software that doesn't play nice with iTunes *and* you're limited to ALAC (which isn't bad, but inconvenient compared to flac), so after you've spent time and money getting your files organized you may need to re-do them. and compared to other Android phones, the V40 has the same audio advantages...excepting of course that the other Android phones also can play any file at any resolution, they just won't sound as good as the V40. my V40 is coming today or tomorrow, but the V20 (with the same audio section) i had plugged into a very high-end audio system (five figures) in an acoustically treated room and it has *beaten* outboard streaming dacs at $750. so yeah, you can say i like it.
the thing that makes apple better is that they only have let's say 7 "self-created" processors to support while android needs to support 20 or so... SO the iphone always will be more powerful than android.
Just a correction - the LG V40 doesn't have stereo speakers. It has mono audio (albeit very good sounding) but with the V40 it comes out of both the speaker on the bottom and the earpiece.

Camera looks a lot better on the iPhone, at least for video. The speed is pretty close for general app use, both will be fine. Opening apps also doesn't give you the full view on the speed. Try something like 4k video rendering, that will show the power of the A12 more clearly.

LG is a great brand..but reviewers have mis lead people in thinking apple and samsung are the way to go. I have owned iphone 7, galaxy s8, lg v30..trust me LG is just as good as apple and samsung,in some ways even better.
I am still truly shocked the LG's (V/G) have been the only phones with a hifi quad dac. Being able to have my phone drive a nice over-the-ear headphone, has been life changing. I have had all 3 previous V's, V10, V20, and V30. My V10 succumbed to the dreaded bootloop issue. My V20 never cracked its camera glass, but it went dark (flatout died overnight), not an uncommon issue. My V30 arrived with a dead pixel (not uncommon either). At a year and half old, I genuinely wonder how much time the V30 has left. This V40 looks great, but in 6 months when its time for a new phone for me, I just don't know if its going to be the V40.
Once you get an LG phone you won't want to get any other brand I first got the budget series k20v in 2016 I loved it I'm getting the v40 delivered tomorrow I'm excited
