Yeah. There is still hope. 2% are good movies, but still. They are focused on re-boot, virtue-signalling, x-sexuality, inclusiveness, diversity. Not on good story and movie
godwantsplastic I don’t think so. At least not the ending or any of the results. There was no “good guy cop” who won at the end of the day. It wasn’t a happy ending where the good guys cheer in victory. It was a bitter ending with the realization that the way in which “order” is kept isn’t in the honorable way normally thought of
One of those rare films that you can watch over and over again. And even though you know what's going to happen, it grabs you again from beginning to end.
Very true. For me there's just so much happening with the characters AND the script, I've enjoyed the hell out of rewatching it a few times. And dang! Is Emily a FOX or WHUT?! I love her! Josh is great, too, so annoying!
Brolin is one of the most under-rated actors in Hollywood and a much smarter dude than most Hollywood people I've heard/seen. He's awesome in Sicario. Him and Del Toro are why I'm giving a chance to that sequel.
@@icarussbungeecord7779 I was talking about his talent being underestimated. Playing in big Hollywood blockbusters doesn't require actors to be particularly talented, just to be charismatic. Marvel movies aren't Chekhov.
Brolin was the big brother in the Goonies. Didnt see him for a while until No Country.....and he totally blew me away with his talent and believability. When I seen Sicario and Josh's performance I instantly knew I would watch this film numerous times to catch every subtlety. Josh Brolin is superb in every facet of his craft. He's definitively in my top 10.
ruinerfixxxer 2007 was his breakout year and fairly late in his career I may add. In 12 months he had no country, planet terror, and American gangster and all 3 characters were great!
Yeah shadowed by Emily Blunt's NEEDLESS character in this film, this writer's two best features, Sicario and Wind River suffer from the need to shoehorn in a vulnerable rookie female when the themes of those selfsame films prevent the women from even having an important role in the film. I feel like her performance was great but realistically (and Sicario is very realistic) they would already have a top tier female operator on the same level as the "Wolf"
Nah, no one was overshadowed. I think their parts had exactly the gravity they needed to. No character was needless, no character was wasted, no character was underplayed.
Finn Feaver I think your missed a main point of the film. The CIA needed a gullible FBI agent to be in part of the operation because they would be operating on American Soil. That was the entire point that the wierd and vague answers he was giving was to keep her on board but in the dark.
Finn Feaver The character is a vehicle for the audience in the film. She is made so that we experience the story mostly through HER perspective and feel like an outsider to the world she steps in.
Josh brolin shines so bright though. Its like soup. Emily blunt is the bowl but Josh Brolin is what you actually give a shit about. Every time I think of Emily blunt I play back all of the "Emilly Blunt-Force Trauma to the face" Jokes when I remember the movie.
Denis has to one day do a debrief on how he made this film because Brolin, Benicio, and Emily Blunt all say when they were making this film they were sure they were making a turd. That’s some next level Jedi mind trick directing.
On paper it sounds like a B movie from the early 2000s that's directed by Isaac Florentine. The director, the cast and the cinematography are what elevated this material imo.
i don't believe those actors said it - those are professional actors, Brolin, Benicio, Blunt - they read the script, and they agreed to be in it. What A-List cast would want to torpedo their career by being in a "turd" ?
TMCS IEP they didn’t say it so bluntly but all actors have said in interviews Denis acted like he didn’t know what he was doing the whole shoot. Brolin has said in interviews he didn’t know what kind of movie they were making and in his experience it means he’s making a bad movie.
LOVED Sicario. One of the highlights for me was Jeffrey Donovan - his character, Steve, is my favourite out of all of them. Very unassuming, low-key but a TOTAL BADASS!
He is enticing because he is confident in his goals and knows what he wants. And doesn't apologize for it or second guess it. Its something that everyone wants, but not necessarily always the "best man for the job".
Josh Brolin... in my eyes the Marlon Brando of this age... every movie he's in scores... and he can play any character and nail it to a tee! Him and Tom Hardy are taking it by storm
He should have won the Oscar for "W" for sure just nailed that role. It's crazy to see him in Goonies so young and now he is compelling in any movie he stars in kind of like Tommy Lee Jones in his later career.
The Dead Immortal I've seen him in dozens of movies since I was a kid. Snatch, The Usual Suspects, 21 Grams, Traffic, Che, Sin City, Hunted, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas... Those are the ones I've seen anyway.
Playstation Elation So have I, but that doesn't make him "one of the most requested actors in Hollywood" lmao By that standard literally every actor in Hollywood is the most requested actor in Hollywood because I've seen them in dozens of movies over the past decades.
Great statements by Brolin. I'm breathlessly waiting to see, in Sicario III, to see whether his tries to rescue Alejandro and Isabel, or whether he tries to bury the problem of his conscience with a GAU-17 Gatling Gun.
Very interesting. I often see the actors, directors, etc. in really great movies say they weren't sure whether the movie was going to be great when they were filming it. This is some of what Brolin says in the interview. A really seductive movie that has the feel of being authentic to real CIA operations (as much as I know about such things). It is an ensemble movie with Brolin and Benicio standing out.
Sometimes dark, depressing film sets need a little levity or humor between scenes, lol. It reminds me of interviews with Patrick Stewart where he tried to take things WAY too overly-seriously in the beginning of TNG, yelling at the crew and treating them as children for trying to joke or laugh between work. But, he eventually realized he was wrong and realized you can still work seriously and get stuff done while still maintaining some level of levity/fun that helps ease the tension and ultimately can result in an overall more productive film/TV set at the end of the day when done right ;)
I once had a dream that they turned a childhood game I used to play (Starcraft) into a movie, and Josh Brolin played James Raynor... Absolutely perfectly cast hahaha.
It's cool listening to actors talk about working with directors. When the actor can't tell what is happening yet keeps on because they trust yo, that quality separates great directors from master directors.
It's hard to keep in mind that this guy's an actor and not one of the characters he plays. He does remind me of some of the real mean bastards I've met in the Army: you know the type that you are glad are on your side.
the tense highlights are the best compliations I've ever seen from any movie, ever. The barking dog at border crossing.......OMG..... who was smart enough to leave that in the movie? Genius.
I wonder if he will take this attitude into Soldano, if he can/does, his character should get a solo film for part 3, because he would have pulled me right into the cause.
I'm listening to him halfway thru this interview remembering an article that expressed how he and majority of the cast DID NOT believe in this picture. That there were strong apprehension about the dir Denis Vilaneuve. But they were all "pleasantly surprised" after watching when it was finished. Interesting....
This title is misleading. He states the levity was on the set so he became irritated off set, which is usually the reverse of the intense dramatic roles he’s had.
