So refreshing to see an actor actually interested in his role. So many movies nowadays feel like a burden on everyone involved including the viewer, and every interview just shows how much regret the actors have for being in them

To make a great actor, one needs to be super smart. Intelligence in truly understanding, empathizing and emulating the character you are playing.
BDT epitomizes that. When he talks about Alejandro and his expression when he says he wouldnt want to mess with him, it says it all. He really studied his character to a T. That is why we the audience feel him so tremendously captivating and true to life. There are no contradictions anywhere in the portrayal, even to a minutest extent. It is really as if a real person named Alejandro who had those life experiences was doing what he was supposed to be doing to avenge his family.

@@CooManTunes You're the idiot. Cast and crew spout disingenuous bullshit in order to promote their project all the time. It's part of their job.
DiCaprio, although I like and respect him as an actor, is not in the same league as Del Toro, even just in terms of versatility. He's good and he's watchable but he isn't great. I like to think of him as a thespian's Tom Cruise; bankable, dependable acting talent.
That said, Del Toro is great but he can't stand up in the Brando, De Niro, Oldman bracket. The game's changed and that level of talent just isn't in demand anymore. The rationale being that the performance draws attention away from the piece and the piece cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make. No one wants to back a film to that tune just to showcase virtuoso acting performances. No one goes to the cinema to watch good acting. Nowadays it's more about picking a killer script, director and d.o.p with relatable, bankable actors that _can_ act.

Films like MCU on the shallow end of the spectrum and Nolan on the deeper end.
Scripts, direction and photography that are all mind blowing in terms of the history of cinema but none of them focus on acting or or the human element. Just the spectacle or experience. It doesn't really add to cinema, it just extends it.
Happily, there's plenty of cinema outside of Hollywood, but no doubt inspired by Hollywood, being made.

**SPOILERS** **SPOILERS** lol the interviewer wasn't really listening near the end. Asking if he thinks Alejandro would have pulled the trigger in the last scene, Benicio indicates that yes he's convinced he would have. "I don't think this guy pulls out the gun and then just puts it back." As in Alejandro never "bluffs" because he's always 100% serious. Benicio just essentially said "Yeah there's no ambiguity with this guy's threats/actions, he is 100% serious. He doesn't fuck around". Then the interviewer confusingly says "Well that's what I really like and what's great about your performance is you could not tell what he would do". Like bro seriously? Alejandro followed through on everything he had said, and he had ALREADY SHOT KATE once possibly twice in the border tunnel scene. Yeah obviously he knows she's wearing thick body armour that would certainly repel small arms fire, he still fucking shot her. Personally watching that last scene, 0% of the tension came from "Ohh jeezz will Alejandro possibly do such a bad thing oooohh nooo will he??" and 100% from "Oh fuck will Kate sign over her principles? Will she try and argue with him?" Kate had been the one facing tough moral decisions, and bit by bit her soul geting chewed away.
/rant Idk, his opinon and subjective experience with the film is obviously his own thing that's cool. But objectively his interview/listening skills need improvement lol I mean Benicio starts stumbling over his words cause the guys contradicting him but implying like Benicio is agreeing with him? He doesn't know wtf to say lol so he says "yea.... thats.. cool, yeah that's cool"hahaha.

I guess cuz he's kind of a method actor. He said so in an interview before that when he does a movie so soon after just filming a different one. He gets reminded of his other characters in past films. He has to be conscious about it the back of his head or else a character will come out while filming a scene. Some actors carry their characters with them for a good 2 years before they completely drop the act.

Buy an island. On that island, drugs would be offered for a relatively affordable price. The island would have farms. People could earn money growing food, and use that money to buy the food and drugs. Light legalization of drugs throughout South America would also help. Allowing people to buy enough for personal consumption, and to grow, manufacture, and sell drugs in legitimate commercial operations would help decrease crime dramatically. If they set up special clinics on the edges of town, drugs addicts could congregate there, making them easier to police, and REHABILITATE. Cities in Canada have found that it's actually cheaper for their government to provide free housing to the homeless in a special city, because the resources are much more easy to distribute appropriately. If you legalize drugs, you strip the ability of underground organizations to easily profit from the sale of those drugs, because they simply won't be able to compete with corporations that have free-reign to manufacture their product en masse. The money you save from the war on drugs could be used to improve education, create after-school programs that draw children to learn rather than join street-gangs...etc. We obviously know now that military hardware and intelligence agencies are ineffective at stopping this, and at least in some cases, are intentionally trying to keep the issue unresolved. It's time for a change.

He needs to think of it as it was a real person, with real emotions, why would he do this or that, how that kind of person moves, or dresses, thinks, eats, the little gestures and details that make that character believable and not just an actor readnig a script... and they live with this character for months until the movie is over.
