- I was invited to join a group from California, Washington, Texas, Oregon and, of course, Oklahoma, traveling the Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route (AZBDR). I would meet up with my friend, Dan, in Chula Vista, California, where I was visiting my mom, and we'd join the rest of the folks at Gila Bend, AZ.
The AZBDR is a fantastic route. I'm certain that we saw places in Arizona that lifetime residents have never experienced. It is a somewhat rugged route, but there are amazing views and great campsites all along the way from the US-Mexico border to the Arizona/Utah state line. Come join us as we experience the best The Grand Canyon State has to offer.
Part 1 covers the drive out and day 1 of this six day adventure, beginning at Coronado National Monument at the beginning of section 1 to a canyon just south of Pioneer Pass near the end of section 2.
The music is "Depth Fuse" by French Fuse. It is available in the CZcams Audio Library for use in CZcams videos.
This was a fun trip! Thanks for making these videos of our adventure Mark.
I had a great time, Adam. Thanks for having me along.
The outtake at the end was funny.
Glad you enjoyed it. ;-)
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
You're quite welcome, André.
Thank you for visiting my corner of Arizona.
You're quite welcome. Arizona is such an amazing place to explore.
Thanks for another great video Mark!
And thanks for watching and commenting, Mike.
What a fun looking time! Every time I see one of your videos from out there, it makes me want to head west more and more.
You definitely need to; great times being had out that way!
@@DxDOverland one day!
Great trip! One of the better BDRs.
I agree on all counts. :-)
A lot of great footage, Mark!
Thanks much, Roy.
Was wondering when you would notice the broken antenna. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, there was a lot to keep an eye on while in that section. Until we started discussing antennas.
Pretty diverse terrain. Love it. Quite a bit of pavement on that BDR route it seems. Looking forward to more. George.
There's a bit of pavement. But the dirt parts do make up for that. And keep in mind there are several route options. We kept to those rated difficult (also that those ratings are meant for ADV bikers).
@@DxDOverland aware the BDR's were designed by the Dual Sport crowed. Overlanders just adopted them.
This BDR looks pretty interesting. Idaho's looks pretty boring, road condition wise that is. I like rougher roads, more entertaining. I think the overgrown trees would have turned back a lot of "overlanders".
I do believe that you are right about some folks choosing the alternate route.
Brings back memories Mark! I did the AZ BDR several years ago with two friends. One of the best trips I've ever done. Funny the comment about the Mexican side by the border looks better than the American side. I thought the same thing as we went by.
That's got to be rough on a bike. We saw some bikers the first couple days, but one of them was struggling a bit. We never did see them in the latter part of the trip. They may have opted for the main route when we were on an alternate. Hopefully they accomplished their goal. Anyway, hat's off to you, Bob, for your success.
