There is ONE WAY to make that hydrofoil sailboat invincible: Computerize the controls of the foils. Add a form of 'auto pilot' to them, so that the computer maintains the foils at a near-constant depth in the water. As the wind picks up, the wind-side foil will actually start to pull 'down' instead of giving lift, thus preventing the boat from flipping over in high gusty winds. With such a control system, a very lightweight hydrofoil boat should easily be able to cruise at 60 mph in 40 mph winds.

Fantastic boat and team. I have followed this design since the beginning.
Not the first foiling trimaran to cross oceans though. Éric Tabarly crossed the Atlantic in Paul Ricard a foiling trimaran to beat Charlie Barrs transatlantic record in 1980

I wonder if a weight distribution system like they use in aircraft to test passenger movement using water pumps woyld help keep the weight balanced ? Dont know why point you would be taking away from the spirit of sailing but a legit question

Simon WoodburyForget the water would be to cut down on the amount of people running back and forth. You wouldn't add 150 of water until you removed 150 pounds of person.
