    The thing with budget bikes is that once you invest in certain upgrades (drive train, wheelset, bars, brakes, etc) you can move them around to upgrade new big box model offerings as they come out. The key is to not spend more money than you could just buy a smokin' hot used big name bike for on the secondary market.

    Not bad I like the way the bike is shaping up... May I recommend some Shimano mt 200 brakes and some Maxxis minions on a proper tubeless set of rims and I think that bike you will want for nothing... That shock looks like a RockShox Judy silver which means it has steel in it that's why it weighs so much and you didn't see a huge reduction in weight but bike weight doesn't do much to affect how fast you go except in the climb minimally... And with the tubeless set up you'll stop getting flats I remember when I first went tubeless the month's prior I was constantly getting flats I have even had situations where my tire sealant was completely dried up probably for months still never got a flat... But then again I ride in Florida and they do make limerock rock gardens here

    • @Lord_Vader_FL
      @Lord_Vader_FL Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry 1 more thing your Rockshox Judy can probably be adjusted to 130 mm easy and because you are riding a hardtail i would recommend 2.6in tires (wider the tire the less air pressure and the softer the trail feels on your body the vibration is dampened by it) Maxxis minions have a soft rubber compound to greatly help with grip and stopping power.... Bro you ride hard please be safe couldn't comment on the other videos because I hate seeing you crash its nice you show your fails along with your wins but i hate seeing any crash... Budget MTB is awesome for 90% of people but... brother you are the 10% that needs a bike to handle your riding style and I can tell you want a bike that can handle what you truly want to do i put you on my Trail bike i promise you will send harder than you ever have before

      Well man, we have a lot of the items or similar that you listed but this is a sub $1000 dollar build including the bike price so we can't just go crazy. We have a lot of experience with the MT-200 since we had them on the GT until we upgraded to the MT-420 and we like them but the price has gone up so high it would just blow the budget. We also have some 2.5 Minions that we reviewed a while back and we might end up using them at some point. We appreciate your concern but we have this budget channel because we like trying and reviewing budget stuff. Hopefully you wont be seeing anymore crashes for a while🤞🤷😆. 6:23 Pro tip, always press one bearing cup at the time, to avoid it them going in skewed. That can easily happen. Always use grease.
    You did a mistake and it happen just like knew it could, I keep warning people about this. But of course another reason for a cup to go in skewed is ovalized headtube if head tube was so weak it deformed, or if the headtube just has so bad tolerances. It's not a surprise if this frame has horrible tolerances. I had those issues with Trek, I had to use a hammer, cus it headtube was undersized at a spot. Stock headset was bit undersized made for bad tolerances but Chris King is perfection, so was so tight.
    Really should never hammer it in headset cups, I jus thad to, but if headtube is not too tight and you have no reaming tool, you might need to, but on new a proper frame please don't do this you can damage the headtube if it's very skewed, mine was not that skewed, but had to help it with a hammer, until I could press it in flush.
    Stock Vp components headset made for cane creek was super easy to knock out. B

    @luislebron4785 Před 2 lety +2

    Another cool review. Not sure I like the spacers above the stem sticking up like a nub. I've seen other reviewers do the same thing and I figured it's because they don't want to cut the fork tub down in order to use it later on other frames. Is that it? If not, why shouldn't the stem be on top? BTW: Cats meow seems to have more radical jumps, while this trail seems to have more rocks. Which one is harder on the bikes?

    • @Whitelight72
      @Whitelight72 Před 2 lety +2

      spacers add a bit more adjustability to body setup: ie: lower for cross country(more aggro for attacking), higher for backpacking(more upright position ,;less aggressive). Myself i keep high because it reminds me of B.M.X... .

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  Před 2 lety

      Exactly right, we just use all of our forks and want to keep them as universal as possible:) Learned that the hard way....Also in my opinion the stem being on the top keeps the feeling of being lower on the front tire and a true feeling at minimum, so I figure lower is better?? IDK??? LOL I would say the Cats meow is way more of a softer trail, it is way smoother and if you hit all things just right no problemo, but the hayes creek is so fast and rock gardens rule. A few natural features but all in all a great fork and brake review trail. We like it as well because you can review multiple things on it at once, it is a long 2.13 mile trail and gives you time to think, well sort of! The Cats meow is a fast and shorter trail which sometimes feels like I miss alot of the points I would like to make. But which do you prefer??

      @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS You really don't like that huge billet aluminum stem eh? Look on Amazon. EC90 has a nice carbon fiber/aluminum one for cheap. I think my carbon bars were like 35$ and like 800mm. Had to cut them.

      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  Před 2 lety

      @OktaFierce well we would still have to factor the tape we bought $15 plus the sealant $16-$20 and don't forget tubeless ready tires $$? it all adds up quickly. We have $1000 dollar budget on this bike and we aren't going to have enough to do what we want as it is. We did try to do a ghetto tubeless setup a few years ago just like you put and it was a major fail. We tried without proper tires and sealant was leaking through the sidewalls. We appreciate the advice but I'm not sure if you know about our budget. Thanks man👍

    To anyone out there using this bike in this manner. DO NOT PUT A ROCK SHOX JUDY ON A TRAIL BIKE MEANT FOR DOWNHILL. Even a Judy gold has 30mm stanchions and 120mm maximum travel. We are already in the age of 34mm upper stanchion diameter and 140mm travel for BUDGET FORKS. The DAMPERS are larger as well, and retain more hydraulic fluid. Judys in 2021 are XC based trail forks that simply are NOWHERE NEAR Suntours Epixon performance level for XC trail riding in the budget category. Judys gold are 458 bucks worth of RIPOFF if you know budget fork prices. Old Judys are legendary because EVERYONE HAD THEM, and the Marzocchis COST TOO MUCH AT THE TIME. By todays standards, BOTH WERE COMPLETE JOKES for hardcore trail forks. Get what you want, but this style of bike REQUIRES a different standard of fork in 2021.

      @Thiosemicarbizide Benzoyl Alcohol You are correct. Is someone claiming otherwise? I have not read any comments on here that I can remember that claim it to be anything other than a good value XC fork at $169 dollars.
