      I’m convinced that they don’t care. I worked for a company that used to do some of the hauling for FedEx and cannot tell you how many guys I’ve seen the guys unloading packages by throwing them marked fragile or not, while the sniffer dog is walking all over packages. People don’t realize just how lucky they are that they get a package in one piece.

    Messaging from the UK and I know bike prices might be different here so forgive me if i'm wrong... but this seems like quite low spec and old standards for the price. You're talking about upgrading a lot. It needs a new wheel, new groupset, new brakes, new fork, new tyres to make it useable, square taper(new cranks if you wanna upgrade that). Its a nice looking frame, geo looks good and has routing for dropper post, but it also has quick release drop outs and short seat post insertion. Seems like an expensive upgrade route for a bike thats not too cheap to start with. Love your vids guys, but think this bike is a miss.

    I remember my first Mt. Bike was a Mongoose. It was around 93' so it was actually made by Mongoose. I also remember my neighbor back in 80's had a Mongoose bmx bike. Mongoose unfortunately had to sell it's name. Do not know how quality is now of Mongoose. I am sure it is not the quality it use to be. Unfortunately. My next bike after the Mongoose was a Proflex 854. Another company that sold out.
    Today I have two bikes a Trek TopFuel and a fat tire ebike FreeSky Swifthorse. Still I miss the 90's for Mt. Bikes.

  • @LebronPhoto1

    The Switchback expert at $699 with a tapered head tube is a good value when compared to an equivalently priced Trek Marlin. This one, not so much. Given the Ardor has a tapered head tube, not having it on this bike puzzled me. Since you have a free wheel on this and no tapered head tube, wouldn't the Schwinn Aluminum Comp be a better deal? I bought the Aluminum Comp at $225, replaced the Crank set with another tapered crank and the 34T chain ring ($40), Replaced the Derailleur with an Acolyte ($60), Replaced the real wheel with a Cassette type wheel ($89, and I already had a used cassette), Replaced the brakes with TPard hydraulic brakes ($42), and replaced the fork with a ZTZ Air Fork ($119). So for $575 I have a 1X8 hard tail with a Spring Lock (clutch), cassette, hydraulic brakes, air fork and tapered head tube.

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  Před 25 dny

      @LebronPhoto1 Před 24 dny

      @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS at $298 and f you need a medium it may still be a good deal. At $349, it’s a harder sell. With their move to Ozark Trails and the newer Axums, seeing AL Comps on sale may be reality in the near future. The Walmarts around me seem to have a good supply of them.

    When I ride offroad with a 2x or 3x I use the big ring to get to the trail(road/gravel) then I use the small ring for most of my off-road action and every once in a while I will go big. Admittedly with a 22/36 you might ride in the big ring more and then just drop to the small ring when it gets steep. On 3x I stayed middle ring 75% of the time on the trail. I think the groupset is perfect for the target market of road/mup/gravel/light trail. I do agree a 1x with a cassette/freehub would be better but I don't know how much more it would cost. I do like that the parts come assembled decently. No upside down bars/stem/forks or seatpost.

    Great channel! Fun banter. 1. Since dicks SG is a big box store but has a bike shop inside, in store customers will Not have to deal with warranty or shipping damage or bent rotors and will receive free adjustments. You also pay a little premium for multiple bike sizes and colors 2. Please call your bottom brackets “ square taper with NON sealed ball bearings. IXF cranks are a “splined” hollow style with outboard sealed bearings. Square taper, old style and cheap can fall off and come loose and were invented over 70 years ago.

    I think the price is high, maybe I am out of touch w recent prices. Aggressor Pro was typically $350, so what do you get for the extra $200? Internal routing and a 44mm head tube. But, you are paying more for a freewheel instead of a cassette. To upgrade the drivetrain with a 1X you need to fork out $$$ on a new rear wheel. Huge mistake not putting a cassette on this one, especially for the price.
    Good looking frame and the 44mm head tube helps greatly with upgrade options on the forks.
    IMO this should be $300 $350 max.

    The color is 🔥. Why the 2x drivetrain? Get that front derailleur off and the dual rear reflectors...is it a fat tire bike?
    That front rotor looks like it was in an accident lol. Not Mongoose's fault but you can't swap it for the realtime review, you rode the Sidewinder with backwards cockpit.
    Freewheel no big deal, just swap them out with the cycling deal wheelset. Or now that you're a wheel building expert, just swap out the rear hub.

    Freewheel or cassette? It really isn’t that big of a deal, most people are going to change the wheels out anyways. Believing that stock wheels are junk, it’s pretty much the first thing to go. Do you get the feeling that you are seeing more bikes with cheaper parts because they are getting a better deal and so that’s what they are using? $549? You are quickly approaching “bike shop” entry level bikes, most of them have a cassette.
